- We were always wondering, is the HOBBITON MOVIE SET WORTH A VISIT? As you may already know, the Hobbiton Movie Set is a 2 hour ride from AUCKLAND, New Zealand and it can make for a GREAT DAY TRIP, but should you visit?
Steve is HUGE TOLKIEN fan, having read the books and watched the Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit, so this was a huge bucket list item for him when we visited Auckland, New Zealand. I had not seen the movies in a while, so he wanted to see if I would appreciate it as much as he did.

Growing up on the LOTR series, going to Hobbiton would be an absolute dream come to! Seeing Steve so excited made me so happy. And seeing Gokce being so engrossed with those butterflies made me even happier! 😄 Great video as always guys, cannot wait for tomorrow - Sunday - when you’ll upload the next video of your adventures. I have been binge watching all your videos since yesterday and have spammed you guys with comments on every single video, I apologise for the spamming. But it’s just that seeing you both travel makes me SO HAPPY! It’s as if I am vicariously seeing the world along with you both. You both have become my favourite travelling couple now. This is the episode I am so excited for. Really high on our bucket list. So cool they kept this place after the movie ended. We love movie tours. We try to go where ever we go.
Steve had this added the moment we added New Zealand to our list... he knew he couldn't miss it. There's only a handful of "real" hobbit holes to enter, but they put in so much effort to the set still. Really hope the Santos family can go one day!
Travel Interesante Goal is 1-2 years. Key is for Rosalie to be able to sit through that long plain ride. That will be our first international travel for the clan. Along with Australia of course. Thanks for getting me super excited for this.

We've heard so many great things about Hobbiton and would definitively be a stop if we visit New Zealand. Yes, nothing goes better with a beautiful day like a cold beer. That's cool that they're actually growing veggies there. Looks like they really thought of everything.
They have literally prepared everything to make the tour as authentic and joyful as possible! It's a must visit spot in New Zealand for sure!! 🥂

We were there too on our way to Rotorua!! But it was super gloomy and drizzling! Good weather you got there.. the price was kinda steep (when we converted it back to our local currency) but definitely worth a visit!
We booked things too back to back and missed out on Roturua... there's soo much to see in New Zealand, it really is an amazing country. Totally agree on the pricing, so glad we found klook to save a little bit more on the ticket.

The drive down from Auckland was also a cool way to see some of the New Zealand country side, but definitely nothing like the South Island, so we need to go back for that... and free beer makes everything better haha!

It was the end of summer (in March) and fairly crowded. They have allocated hours and quota for each time slot so it might be the same every time 🤗

Would visiting Hobbiton take a full day from Auckland’s waterfront - after picking up a rental car. Or could we see another site near Hobbiton?
Yes you can see another site near there but then you should visit Hobbiton early in the day as the tour is only around 2-3 hours. Thanks for watching 😊

We miss you both too! Can't imagine "fat" Nick haha. Even at the end of summer you could still feel that heat which was a nice change of pace from the NYC winter for sure. Still holding out hope George Martin will finish his books since GoT ended poorly in our opinion, any new LotR stuff would be a nice bonus... I kinda wanna re-watch the trilogy now!
