Cockatoo Meows Like a Cat

- This cockatoo just wanted to fit in with the group of cats that were living with him. He tried to be a part of the group by meowing like them as he paced back and forth across the bed.

Cat: hmmm... That's weird... This bird is meowing... Let me check if this is a bird or a cat
*Proceeds to approach*
Bird: don't you dare come closer to me... *Continue to meow*
Cat: ummm okay?
That hissing was the best part!
Coincidentally, hissing is actually a form of dissatisfaction in cockatoo (includes cockatiel) repertoire.
0:10 lol
😂😂😂😂😂😂
The hiss proves the bird's intelligence. It wasn't just mimickry or "monkey see monkey do".
The bird used the hiss, with pantomime threat of biting, in the appropriate context and meaning. A threat. This is a sentient, intelligent being attempting trans-species first contact.
Fair enough, but the meowing makes no sense in this context. Cats meow for food or for their mommies.
Humans realising non-human species aren't necessarily dumber than a snail
@@destroya3303 The bird hears the cats meow, who meow because they are owned by humans.

Cockatoos are crazy. Literally insane. I knew one that hung around in a lady's pet store. It would do the same thing to attract the cats, and when they came over to it, she'd bite them really hard, and the cats would run off, then the bird would actually LAUGH its ass off.
Very funny. Love birds. Look for the videos with Max, a cockatoo. He walks around muttering and it is dialogue from some movie he has seen. One can't tell what he is saying, but it is VERY funny.
My aunt and uncle have a cockatoo that does nothing but screech when visitors come by. Cockatoos are fucking nuts.
Cockatoos are basically 3 year olds that you have to deal with for decades.
Taylor Lords yeah my bird trigger used to do stuff like that to the pet store owners dog by whistling for it but since ahe cant fly they decided to sell her to my dad since he came into the store to see her alot
My friend has 2 of them. Has had them for 20/30 years. One of them she had with her everywhere earlier, and lived in her house. He understand most everything you say to him, he eats nicely of plates without making a mess, she can hold him over a bucket and tell him to "go" so he doesn't mess up the house. When he got sick and didn't want to eat, no mater what she fed him, she told him that if he didn't eat she had to take him back to the man in the white coat that stuck needles in him(the vet, he had been attacked by a raccoon,. He went over to his food bowl, put his head down and pretended to eat, while looking at her to see if she bought it. They really do have quite some intelligence. She can even ask him questions, mostly yes and no, since he doesn't talk much, and he will answer correct. Ratted out her niece for drinking beer once.
He gave the cats a taste of their own medicine!

He probably is, the walk up and down is a good sign of it. Smarter birds like Corvids and Parrot relatives understand humour and trolling, they do it mostly to each other or humans but often other animals around them as well.
@Josh Franklin Seen it so many times, both from pets and the wild birds I feed and provide nest boxes for. A recent example was a Crow just before Christmas, the Crow was safe and high up the tree and didn't have young or anything but it had decided to irritate and annoy a local cat. For a good few mins it pecked off bits of twig and hurled them down at the cat just to annoy it, I have seen other Corvids troll all the other birds around by suddenly letting out a loud warning call. Birds tend to pay attention to the warning calls of other species as they share predators, if one bird panics and cries the rest will scatter and Crows and Ravens "cry wolf" just to be dicks and I have parrots do the same.
My last pet bird learned to perfectly mimic the beeping of my microwave, if I had the microwave running and left the room he would do the ending beeps so I would come to look and then bounce around squawking in amusement.
