Laurie Daley was and is the greatest blue ever. Johns and Fittler and Kenny may have had more skills. But none of them had the same impact daley did. He was Wally Lewis like. There have been more talented maroons. Lockyer,Thurston, langer all more talented than Lewis but Lewis was just built different. Daley is that guy in blue.
Well I was there and QLD won 5-4 thanks to an Allan Langer field goal. At the end of where the field goal was kicked and that there was where my family was situated. My father was the only one who didn’t go up when the field goal was kicked.
the blues need another leader like Loz. He played all out with his heart on his sleeve and his team mates played out of their skins for him. Cordners a good captain but he needs that fire like Loz had. Heres my thoughts - 1. Tedesco/trbojevic - fire 2. mansour - fire 3. dugan - game breaker 4. jennings/latrell mitchell - fire 5. tupou - leaper and scorer 6. Moses/maloney/cody walker - fire 7. maloney/cleary - organiser 8. fifita - passion 9. peats - tough 10. campbell-gillard - tough 11. cordner (c) - tough 12. graham - skills 13. jackson/finucane/de belin - tireless 14. klemmer - tough For the remaining 3 spots the 2 workhorses who miss out on lock forward and the remaining spot for the guy with the best utility value that misses out in the halves (walker most likely). I know moses is young but hes the type of player who doesnt get over awed, is passionate and is the future. Cleary also and would compliment moses as an organiser. Get the young guns in.
Back then they played and valued each other as a team, the last 10 years was built around individual players such as Gallen and Hayne. Hayne was a freak but Gallen was all hype. Gallen was just a slow get in the road player.
Right coach, wrong players, they looked good on paper but you can't predict when they are going to feel pressure or switch off. I don't think the culture is wrong, I think the passionate and vocal leaders on the field are not being selected. The best centres, wingers, halves, forwards in the game who are hot being selected now, we are selecting the old, not the current game winners like Addo-Carr or Jimmy the Jet. Half the team should be dropped next year for the absolute best we can put on the field in every position

I met him once, back when I was working security at Southbank (Brisbane). He seemed like a decent enough bloke. I got to tell him that he was an inspiration to me when I used to play footy. He was even polite enough to ask if I still played and how it all worked out for me.
I met Laurie Daley when he first started out for Canberra in the rugby league sevens tournament. It was in a tent for a meet and greet. And my timing was perfect as it ended up just me and him. What a decent bloke he is. He truly was interested in having a conversation. And he wasn’t fake, what you see in interviews on TV is exactly how he is overall. I find it hard to believe you think he’s a tool. I think you misjudged him. I don’t even go for Canberra either, I’m a Bulldogs since I was young. Lozza is a legend. 👍
He was a fierce competitor. I'm a Queenslander but I have so much respect for This champion.
