The GWM acts as the interface between the various independent data bus systems and ensures the distribution of the communication data between the individual data bus systems in the vehicle.
The individual data bus systems transmit their data to the GWM. It ensures that the cross-system data is available throughout the integrated network, even through the data has different communication structures and speeds. It additionally fulfils the function of a filter if one bus system fails or when forwarding data. It can filter faults and quantities of data.
The GWM (Gateway) is integrated on the front of the DLC

Swapnostics 😂😂, my mate did that on a range rover with a fuel gauge fault , swapped dash cluster to try it , and it added the 2 mileage from the cars together, he pooopped in his pants , put the doner back in the doner car and 3 mileage added now , 250 quid later and the dash correction man put it back to the original mileage , scary vehicles , great video , cheers
ha ha , thats an awkward situation
Your sense of humour/sarcasm makes the videos for me 😁😁
Coming more into each video now 😂
Wow this has help me out massively! Got same van same symptoms no crank no start . Tried another GWM no difference. Tried all fuses in bcm all good. Scan tool lights up there is hot live but no switched live I don't think. Could do with knowing where ign live comes from. Gonna use this video to help me suss it.
I found this channel not long time ago, and I think someone from another channel had recommended it. It's great channel... I think of myself as one of the best diagnostician, although I own small garage. Everything I know is from channels like this, google, forums, and a lot of practise. You need to love this job to be good at this. No other way.
Thank you for great videos. As I folow several channels, woun't be able to watch all of your videos quickly. But I'll watch them all for sure.
Greeting from Serbia.
Many thanks for your kind comments and support for my channel
Some great British terminology in this one :) Good job
😂
Knowledge and entertainment - what more could a chap want 😂👍🏻
Thanks for the comment and for watching
First class as always, good to see some new stuff on test as well, for when it hits our shops.
Thanks again!
Once again a great video with logical approach and explanation. Topped off with a Grimsby accent . Love it
Grimsby accent?........not me mate, Im from darn sarf!! 😆
Hello mate nice diagnostics
I’m stealing this one “swapnostics” 😂
Thanks for the video
Thanks for your continued support, I doubt the saying is mine..... Im trying to be more "me" in the videos..... I've plenty of sayings yet to be aired 😂
SY Diagnostics well allow me to thank you your videos are a great source off knowledge thus priceless for everyone
Also your style and approach to the problem is second to none
In this game everyday is a school day especially for us small independents where’s dealer level knowledge and access to databases more or less out off reach cost wise so every drop of such info worth a lot to us if you getting my drift
Again thank you sharing
Beautiful well done ❤
thanks for sharing looking forward to pt 2
Unsure whether there will be to be honest, fitting the gateway wouldnt make good viewing and the engine is down on 3 compressions so looks like its game over
Loving your videos 💖. Really interesting and so well explained. 👍
thanks for the comment and for watching
Your AWESOME!
Good thought process enjoyed the diag so far keep it up nice video
Thanks 👍
Wow I’m glad I watched the training video 1st. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 great vid 🚞🚞🚞🚞🚞🚞
Thanks 👍
Fantabulous . Love it
Thank you! Cheers!
Good work! Kinda like a tipm set up on Chrysler’s but I like that the dlc is a part of the module
Loving your videos
Thanks
Keep it up Sy like your videos short duration but informative ! 👍
i try to keep them short otherwise people lose interest. Others i feel are guilty of dragging a video out far too long
@@SYDiagnostics its ok if long but make sure it is informative 👍
Great stuff , good timing too having a curry and a few beers! would be nice to take that GWM apart and find the fault with it .
Thanks .
nothing to see, i stripped it on the bench, nothing visible that i could see
cant wait for the second vid, i have seen something similar on hgv's basically a box behind dlc that has the terminating resistors in, really enjoyed this :)
The engine has low compression on 3 cylinders (can be heard in the video) so it's game over. Fitting the new gateway and coding it wouldn't make a decent video to watch.
@@SYDiagnostics thats a shame. It definitely didn't sound great 😕
“Bellend” 😆😆😆
Nice job 👍
Great diag as usual Sir. Love your data bus “train”. F@#£ me there’s some traffic on there, wonder what that looks like on the pico?
Superb video once again. Best man on youtube for modern ford stuff. Haven’t come accross any with the gateway module yet. How did you find out the resistance for hs1 hs2 resistance of 60ohm?
I dont think it was a valid test to be honest at the diag 1 and diag 2 pins. But fir the test at the Multiplug it's a basic and valid test for circuit integrity
SY Diagnostics did you just know that figure of 60ohm as an experienced tech or did you get it off autodata/etis etc? Thanks for the quick reply
@@dylangriffith6662 approx 60ohms is the figure for a good can network once shut down. There are two 120ohm terminal resistors in the circuit connected in parallel. So the resistance value is 60ohms. I put a training video on here last night for can.... Its interesting
SY Diagnostics thanks for the info. 👌👌
I cant seem to find any service info regarding programming of the gateway module of a transit. Would forscan be able? Install and load the asbuilt?
Fantastic work again buddy 👍
Anyway, what do you mean "Not going to bother scoping yet". Is that because you're only a dealer tech and can't? 😂
you got it......i just rely on known cases and TSB's......then Tech Support, but hey, i can still video it 😄
@@SYDiagnostics I thought as much. I mean I have seen the comments from the "invested techs".
You just carry on as you are, you're in a league of your own 👍
Can you explain me why didn't you suspect on short to ground on one of can wires
Very informative video, thanks!
Currently dealing with a non communication fault on my Transit, believe it to be the Gateway Module at fault like this one. I have got a replacement module on its way. What is involved with programming the replacement to the van?
Thanks in advance!
It will need programming with Ford fdrs diagnostics
Thanks for your work with tis videos. Just a question, was it due to the fact that you have all the right reading at the "obd-side" of the GWM, you know its broken?
The gateway is a module and is the method by which the scan tool communicates with the vehicle. The power and grounds where present and the can networks "ohms" tested OK. The test I did on diag 1 and diag 2 I feel aren't relevant. With all inputs present I felt it could only be the module at fault. Swapping it confirmed
@@SYDiagnostics Thank you.
when you swapped the gateway module, did forescan read the correct vin number for the van?
Yes with the donor gateway the vin of the "video" vehicle was displayed. This is through pcm communication
Hello I have a problem with a ford galaxy 2010 petrol engine, on the dashboard , key not detected, immobilizer active, engine malfunctioning, none start, fob key not opening car i need help , i have used 2 electrician who have diagnosed and promised to come back till today I am yet to see them
Some info in there, thanks for sharing
Cheers Dave
Do you think the previous tech has caused the gateway fault with probing stuff?
I don't think so. I'm sure he was probing to check ground (hopefully 😂)
Did you programed this getway module?
yes i did
hi i need a wiring diagram of module communication network of a ford ranger 2019 2.2l diesel ...... can you help me with that
You can get them through ford etis for an hourly subscription once you've registered
I had that subscription and this model haven’t is Available
I need Ford scan what’s the costs involved ball park please
the cable can be got through my amazon store, i have the cheap one for around £20 or the official one for around £70. The program has a free 2 month trial or a lifetime licence for about £40 (also available is a yearly licence too )
@@SYDiagnostics thank you
@@richardpinson1234 just got forscan for my mk7 transit, diesel ,nice bit kit ,plus forscan forums are good too, some one got me my radio code of the serial number ,on the sticker on the radio, nice chap on the forum ,van fixed and radio works ,happy days
Where is the TERMINATING RESISTOR located on this network?
one resistor for each network in the gateway and the other in individual modules for each network
Lol009
Faut
hahah "bellend"
Great video, thx for sharing, looking forward to the next one. How many of the current Ford range are fitted with gateway modules that you've come across?
mondeo, fiesta 8, focus 4, i think the mustang too
