  • OS Giken Superlock Spec-S vs TCD Spec-S. These units are both BMW 210mm units to suit E46 M3, E90 M3, E60 M5 etc, and are otherwise the same unit save for the TCD inner plates, which have a much different oiling system vs the Superlock inner plates. This is a dry tech talk, and only useful if you specifically want to see the internals of a TCD.

Great video mate! I really appreciate the in depth explanation!! I have an Lexus ISF and trying to decide between the Super Lock and TCD. Any thoughts on whether the TCD is worth the extra $800?

In terms of performance is one better than the other? Is the TCD just as strong and durable as the super lock? Is one quieter than the other? Thanks in advance, this was a great video.

I believe the TCS has better cooling characteristics. I’d imagine that with the extra grooves and cross drilled holes, that the TCD would also give up a very small amount of ultimate friction since it has less surface area on the contact patches.

      TCD is smoother, less "harsh".
Super lock is more if you want to track it, it's more "raw" while TCD will do both street and track a little more progressive, linear.
It's hard to describe, both are great quality product anyway. Let's say the TCD is 100% and Super lock is 95% of the TCD. I do prefer the superlock, because I like my metal plain and ungrooved.
