    Mates just had an F20 M135i built with a g35-1050, bottom mount, built trans, fully built and closed deck modded N55, upgraded crankhub, his engine originally spun the crankhub at 22psi with the PS2 turbo, so not just an S55 issue. Tuning still in progress, but on E60 it made 667whp at 25psi. Goal is 850whp, its nice to see some decent N55 builds, so will be watching your progress.

      You are very right its not just an S55 issue. I did upgrade my crankhub as well and should have mentioned that in this video. I did talk about it in my previous videos tho. Awesome to hear other N55s being pushed as well!

    IHP you came in CLUTCH with this review. I recently got a Pure750 and 8HP70 installed/swapped onto my 335i .. Although the custom tune 93 tune is fun, I knew I skipped some preventative checks / I could squeeze more power than what I'm pushin now. Thanks for the insight, will be tuning in consistently ✅... I have a question, when you first swapped the turbo on did you run 93 octane and experience throttle loss at 6,000 rpm or very high speeds. My build pulls, but when I get up in the RPM above 6k while going 90ish, I loose throttle if I don't shift fast enough. Again thank you! Maybe one day I can get some content out on the my build as well. Keep living the dream !

      Thanks for the awesome feedback, this is why I do it!! No Ive never ran anything other then Ethanol in my car as its very accessible here in Az. I would defiantly speak to hour tuner about that or look at your setting in your tune program or your xhp flash. Sounds like maybe you are hitting a torque limiter or an actual RPM limiter. Start there. Shoot me a message on IG and Ill happily try to give more help!

    looking for a little advice here. f30 2015 335i auto. 100k miles. oil feed oring for the ring will have to be replaced.. thinking might as well upgrade the turbo. I see three options in pure turbos website, 1k, 2.5k and $3k. just looking for a tune after install with 93 octane, I guess boostane is an option too, one 32oz bottle would be enough for two full tanks to make it 100oct. though ill stick to 93 for this example. if I'm looking to make the most possible with 93 octane without meth or anything else, should the first option (1k) be enough or if money isnt too big of a deal, should go ahead and get the 3k pure turbo 750 option, which comes with the different manifold which supposedly lets the turbos spool quicker by 400-500 rpms? what do you think? thanks. by the way, car already has a big ol aftermarket aluminum intercooler, I think VRSF or something, injen CAI, no mufflers, not sure about the downpipe, will need to check, got it this way. thanks again

    • @Inhouseperformance
      @Inhouseperformance  Před měsícem +1

      Sorry for the late response but personally for 93 or pump gas I would just run the pure750. You would still make high 400whp and stock internals and trans will handle that. Dont waste your money on the smaller turbos its not worth the labor or hassle.

  • @federicosuarez1714
    @federicosuarez1714 Před 2 měsíci +1

    Hey i have a question. I know that the pure 500 and pure stage 2 use the stock turbo manifold so they are still twinscroll turbos.
    This pure 750 turbo that uses a new turbo manifold is still twinscroll?

    • @Inhouseperformance
      @Inhouseperformance  Před měsícem

      Yes I believe the Pure750 is still a twin scroll turbocharger.

    Just wanted to add for anyone worried about N55 rod bearings -in relation to rod bearing issues on n55, there is a ista bulletin that highly recommends oil prime procedure for OFHG or after any repairs. I think most I seen are because people either sat too long or forgot to do oil prime after OFHG. I lost my bearings cause of this, and after I read online it says because they need oil priming more than N54 or others due to electronic sump not pulling enough pressure on first start and it sucks in air. N54 doesn't have this issue or S55 ect from what I read.

    • @Inhouseperformance
      @Inhouseperformance  Před 3 měsíci +1

      These failures are all over the boards and FB groups, likely a couple hundred of them. Lots of people have experienced this issue from incorrect repair procedure, neglect and excessive beating or a combination of these. Its hard to tell what 100% is the issue other then BMW is known for bearing issues with many previous engines.

    • @00000005547
      @00000005547 Před 3 měsíci

      N54 was worse. BMW just has way too tight tolerances and way too thin oil. Their solution has been I believe in the S55 they began using coated rod bearings so when they inevitably break through the oil film b/c of the watery ass oil, it wont be metal on metal but instead metal on low friction coating
      The permanent solution is to put extra clearance bearings, be it ACL or King, and use a slightly thicker, preferably diesel oil like a 15W-40 which will have a much stronger boundary layer. And as with any engine you HAVE to let it warm up to operating temperature before you load it up, especially if you're running a thicker oil. Not necessarily saying you gotta idle the car for 15 minutes before hitting the road, but at least like 30 seconds before accelerating and keep it below 2k rpms for the first couple minutes of driving.

  • @Youngtruckerdee
    @Youngtruckerdee Před 2 měsíci

    Has anybody had a weird stutter while accelerating in the n55? I checked sparks, coils, no miss fires or anything but I get a faint stutter under acceleration but it’s coast just fine. Just looking for insight from my n55 brothers 🤙🏾

    I know with a bigger turbo the spool time may decrease a bit vs stock, but if you floor it from a dig, would you say it still performs pretty well or can still give that good adrenaline punch? Or would you really recommend opting for the pure 500 instead

    • @Inhouseperformance
      @Inhouseperformance  Před 3 měsíci +1

      Pure500 doesnt even come close. Youll be very happy with the Pure750! Its lag is minimal compared to the Pure500.

    Who is the manufacturer of the head gasket, what is in the car? Elring? I have understood that in N54 engines, Elring is not the best option with high power and high boost pressure. Is an Elring head gasket a bad choice for a tuned N55 engine?

    • @Inhouseperformance
      @Inhouseperformance  Před 3 měsíci

      This was a genuine BMW head gasket from FCP Euro. Going forward I think Im going to be switching to a Cometic head gasket. But this issue was not due to a failing head gasket so much but from the head studs being stretched past their yield point due to high boost. Torque to Yield application hardware has a specific yield point where the material will deform elastically and return without failure. In the case I appeared to have gone past this yield point and now the proper torque is no longer being applied to the head in the correct areas causing the leak.

    Send the block over to LA Sleeve and have them sleeve it. it's not $$$ for what it is and takes around 3 months. Dave is the man, block will be good fo 50+ PSI and 1600whp with their open deck version...

    • @Inhouseperformance
      @Inhouseperformance  Před 3 měsíci +1

      Yeah theres a handful of different paths I can take but right now Im trying to go the more diy and stay with the stock block as long as I can to see whats really possible for the average builder. But great recommendation!

    • @the_g1254

      Where'd you get the numbers from? 1600 with an open deck is crazy

    • @Sqwin_n20
      @Sqwin_n20 Před 3 měsíci

      @@the_g1254 LA sleeve has been doing this for a long time. So has Darton. LA sleeve is the biggest manufacturer for those 5 cylinder Volvos in Europe. They are more known for their work on air cooled Porsches. 1000whp+ builds.
      Seriously, give Dave a call at LA sleeve if you are considering this. Send them the block + piston and manufacturer piston specs for clearances you are using/plan to use. For 99% of people who won’t see over 1000whp, a la sleeves vs Darton sleeve install is overkill but you’ll be safe. They can do open deck or closed deck sleeves. Not this CSS/DIY Devcon closing the block route.

    Just found your channel as I'm about to put the pure750 in my N55 M2 any suggestions? I just got a new long block as my last one killed itself, spun crank 4th piston obliterated everything. Currently have Dorch stage 2 hpfp, fuel-it stage 2+ lpfp. Bm3 ethanol sensor and all the other bolt ons. Do you think the head studs will be a problem?

    Keeping 500whp and 600ftlb is relialbe for trans no upgrade ?

    • @Inhouseperformance
      @Inhouseperformance  Před 3 měsíci

      No my transmission was struggling with only 500ft lbs of torque. These cars were rated to have 300ft lbs of torque from the factory. They dont all fail at 500 ftlbs but going to 600 ft lbs is on the edge of possible internal failure and almost certain transmission failure.

  • @ST.G8x
    @ST.G8x Před 3 měsíci +1

    I can highly disagree about the reliably part on single turbo. If the car is BUILT RIGHT you won’t have any reliability issue when single turbo. Especially when you have a good tuner. With my personal experience, my car was LESS reliable when it was stock turbo on BM3 w/ off the shelf tune. Car was always misfiring, running through plugs left and right, and other issues. Then I went single turbo and built the car myself. (I’m a performance technician). I had a Bigboost 3.4 kit on my m235 N55 and was running 26-28 PSI on the street and 30-32 PSI when racing/events. Which was around 700-720. I NEVER had any ISSUES at ALL when going single turbo besides coupler clamps coming lose. Which got fixxed when going to t-bolt clamps. No fuel issues, no boost leak issues, no misfires, no plugs getting fouled( only needed to change spark plugs one time) no back pressure issues. Wedge was my tuner, also the motor was stock and only had VAC coated bearings w/ ARP rod bolts. The car was very reliable and was on that set up for a couple years w/ no issues.

    • @Inhouseperformance
      @Inhouseperformance  Před 3 měsíci

      Thats awesome to hear but you should know with your back round that the performance world its all about data and in collecting data there will always be outliers. And you my friend may be one of them. I to have been working on and building race cars and trucks for over 20 years and when you relocate a turbos, move factory expansion tanks, put hot parts in locations that werent designed to with stand the heat, change clamps and so on theres going to be a lot of room for error. Now being a performance tech you have the benefit of knowing what is right and wrong and correcting it, not everyone who gets a single top mount turbo is on that level of mechanics and understanding. Also being in the performance world you should know how often we see shops throw together cars and take short cuts on completing these installs. Also How often does the owner go over the car and prep the car before or after beating on the car and check for possibly failing components, loose clamps and recognizing something is a miss before failure like we might? Its probably rare . Spark plugs need to be changed more frequently, custom headers crack and break along with tunes constantly needing updating. If performance cars were built and always ran perfect then we would never see people at the track always working on their cars.. Now OTS tunes tho they work well on some cars other cars they dont cause as you know no two cars are ever the same. So maybe going custom tune with stock location turbo may have helped your situation but again you are providing a very small data sample compared to the data Ive seen and experienced. But you do emphasis built right but I think its a combination of built and maintained right and most dont understand those two concepts. 🤙🏻

    • @Inhouseperformance
      @Inhouseperformance  Před 3 měsíci +3

      Never considered it, the close deck is the only major benefit at this point for me. The N55 is actually cheaper when it comes to parts and the fuel system, they have the same displacement, same valve train when it comes to valve sizes, maximum valve lift, vanos and opening period degrees, crank hub issue is the same ect ect. Ive always said if you spend the money and open up any of the modern BMW Engines and close deck it and replace it with forged internals the playing field is pretty level at that point. Just a matter of turbo, tuner and traction.
