British isn’t a ethnic group because it’s a term to those who were born or have citizenship in the UK. English, Scottish, Welish and Irish are ethnic groups and were the original British before they started to expand all over the world. Once colonization was over they still have all this left over land and those people who were mostly not white on those land automatically became British and the immigrants kids that were born there became British.
This is coming from a non-Brit but that’s the best I can explain it.

What’s the problem with being white
Nothing. There is a problem when a government is entirely of one demographic while the people it serves is not, that goes for ethnicity, cultural background, gender, age, education, etc. It 1) can't ever truly represent the people properly, and 2) suggests there are systemic barriers somewhere. That is what he wanted to say, but since he's a brown man and ppl are racist, that's not what ppl say he's said.

Greetings from India. There is some real danger to United Kingdom here. Things can happen so fast the country can be stunned. Having been through the pain of a partition in India, we're still dealing with tensions being inflicted on us by sections of people who want to divide us again.
