Peter Fox Just a theory of mine, really. I don't know if it's true or not. It would make sense though, I think, that the most elite soldiers, the leaders of this mission, who are enlisted military, would have something like this as an assignment.

Yes! Thank you that was the one thing I heard that I freaked out about when he answered in the positive! Me and friend are huge mass effect fans and I always thought it would be so easy for them to add co-op capabilities. You always have companions with you when you're on missions... even the most basic drop in/drop out functionality could work super easy. And then friends could experience the game together instead of just talking about what they did later
+Devin A well there is complications like what does the other player do outside of missions etc but overall it shouldn't be too hard, and their 1st or 2nd I'm not sure game ever had co-op at least I think it did..... I know Baulder's Gate 2 did.

To address some problems you guys are having; When he said companions cannot die, I took it as they cannot die in battle. if they actually cannot die, they never said anything about being brains washed, them betraying you, ext. To address the part where he said this will not be a part of a trilogy, who said they weren't going to have two games that connect, or four?? Exactly. Stop being so negative, but don't let yourself get to hyped for the game because no matter how good it is, it will never meet the expectations you created
if it helps they could also die outside of being a companion (either they leave or you fail to recruit them)

well I understand people who don't wanna buy something made by someone who is racist or intolerant towards their group. For exemple, jim sterling refuse to buy anything made by the creator of earthworm Jim or anything made by orson scott cards because both of them are homophobic biggots and jim sterling is pansexual.
So I get why he refuse to buy anything from them, and I would get why anyone would boycott MEA based on the fact that its made by an anti white racist piece of shit. It would not bother me as much if bioware and EA actually told him to shut the fuck up or actually do something, but they fucking stay silent and don't do anything about his biggotry.

i didn't like that he said no trilogy and that no one can die out of your crew members.
um? maybe because the companions will be in a 2nd game? how could they kill off cahracters if they NEED to be in the 2nd one? nobody died in me1 other then ashely or kaiden but that was something you COULDNT stop. in me2 you can obviously save all your companions.. the only companion i can see dying is your dad IF he a compaion since your father is the leader of an ark but then you become the leader of said ark so my guess is your dead dies in the game early on OR he dissapears

I think they will die but he said no so that we can be surprised if that actualy happens.
there is also the possibility of possible companions dying because you don't recruit them. It might be a situation of if they don't become a companion they die. The wording for that answer was very direct companions can't die...but perhaps they can die while not being companions. There will surely be characters you simply fail to recruit after all.

Fionn Corrigan Also the fact that this isn't a planned trilogy like when they were developing Mass Effect 1. I don't want a one-off or Dragon Age in space. I want this to be an introduction to something new with the grand scheme of the plot revealed in a sequel, while keeping this one more grounded, similar to how ME1 was more about Shepard vs. Saren, while Sovereign and the Reapers (who we didn't really know much about) took a backseat.

original trilogy? what you mean me2?i mean unless you were just fucking around in the game and and didnt evne get a high enough renegade or paragon which is impossible not to do i mean i maxed out paragon like not even half way through the game so by the time i got to legion and tali i was able to save both of them.. yeah jack dies if you dont come save her from the acedemy fast enough but shes still not a companion. in me2 only ashely or kaiden died but that was nothing you could do.. you HAD to pick one.. and with mac saying that no companions can die? this is hte first andromeda.. he said it wont be a trilogy but doesnt mean there wont be 2 games or even 4 games. so why kill off companions if they need to be in the 2nd one? idiot

perhaps they can die before becoming a companion. perhaps being a full fledged companion means you save them or something.

I guessed correctly about the place within the timeline where Andromeda begins! So the Initiative is a lifeboat basically, a worst case backup plan. Quite understandable with the Reapers poised to wipe everything out of existence.

Morinth dies in ME 3 if you pick her in ME 2, and Samara is already in her Matriarch stage in ME 2 and 3 so i doubt she could still be alive. As for Wrex he is known to be centuries old but we don't know how many. Liara could definitely be alive, she would only be 710ish

Cody Cooper I would honestly be quite disappointed by that. One of the greatest things about ME is that you get to be the same person over a large time span.
Even though everything is new and not tied to the original trilogy, I do want to see that approach change.
I would also be very disappointed (and truly shocked) if this did not turn into another trilogy. I don't want to get to the end of ME:A and think "its over. its all over." i wanna know whats next and want to be part of whats next.
And from a writing and production standpoint what the hell would be the point of stopping??? they put some much time into creating such a fantastic universe why wouldn't they want to keep creating and telling stories within that universe.

As of right now they are saying mass effect andromeda will be a standalone game. Maybe in the future they will decide if they wish to further Ryder's legacy or not.
