- The portal in the Whisper Mission has always been a mystery. Upon release it showed us a view to the Vault Of Glass, but in Into The Light, things have changed! A new image can be seen. Let's take a look.

The portal is terrifying in a way that no one seems to acknowledge at all.
In the Vault of Glass, they have full dominion of reality to the point that they can excise even paracausal threats from time itself. It's the ultimate mastery and weaponization of time manipulation that nearly borders on proper space magic, and it's speculated that the only reason we really have a chance is because the Vex never found a way to generalize that power outside of the Vault, before we destroyed Atheon with Kabr's sacrifice at least.
And there's a direct portal from deep in the heart of the Vault connecting it to Io? One small gateway separating absolute authority over time and the rest of the universe? Absolute chills, thinking how close they could've been...
Isn’t there always a fireteam fighting Atheon?
@acoustic_. yeah, basically. Because Atheon was the centerpoint of all the timestreams in the Vault, and it *was* destroyed, it gets defeated by every fireteam at the same time from our perspective (Time's Vengeance). But also always being defeated forever from its perspective.
Kinda like Brachion or the Dreaming City's curse, I guess.

I don’t think it’s a bug. With this amount of good shit coming up and already here, my hesitation is going away and I think Bungie has something planned here. I think it will be something small like the full circle thing that happened with VOG but with the Pale Heart, just like you said.
It might be a lead up to one of the new episodes coming out after the final shape?

It takes you to a small area for one of the shootables for the new ship. Theres a few other CZcamsrs who figured out where all the shootables are when you equip the exotic sniper.
You can then go through it and wave your reticle inside the room and itll auto-lock onto a invisble shootable for the sniper/ship

To me the portal image reminded me on the cutscene where we first saw the witness, long corridor leading to a triangular opening. Idk though why that would be being shown

@@JonathanGarcia-nr9yj Almost seems to be two ways, but the one I know is to walk into the blight area, when you walk out you have a buff for 5 seconds that allows you to damage the main blight. Keep doing that until the boss shows up.

In the final shape game play if you stop the trailer in the first seconds you can see perfect paradox. Maybe it’s coming back and we meet praydeth finally and he has a connection to it all. Just a theory but could be the area we see in final shape that looks like first collapse area. Really cool if you ask me

I think on nemuna/neptune there’s some of these areas that look like the 2nd portal image and would make sense as the vex do travel there often, the dark future on mercury also had this purple tint, and maybe it could be the ascendant plane
3:50 feels like the vault in the leviathan…… the entrance before entering the vault.

This explains why the oracles are in the whisper mission, also can confirm now, that new image is the black garden, took a look at it and it has plateaus and the river of radiolaria running between them in the centerjust like the black garden in the distance does.
But the begs the question, why the vault of glass and then the black garden? What are the vex planning and isbit connected to the future of D2 after FS?
The fastest way I have found to make the blight public event is to use xenophage.
Oh, and the ability to grab from your vault as a fireteam leader was originally a bug that was removed during the dawning but when bungie saw how popular it waa, they reverted the change and started worling on getting the bug implemented as a feature for after the final shape launched. They have allowed fireteam leaders to pull from the vault sunce either late January or early February. I thought this was well known since it was in the twid and the patch notes.

The new vex portal looks similar to the room unlocked at the end of the Wishkeeper mission to me, maybe someone should go do some digging into that mission to see if anything has changed.

I've gained depression over the years which has ruined gaming for me, but back when I wasn't depressed I played everything in D1 and knew every bit of lore.
I don't play D2 enough, I barely do, but seeing easter eggs like this is so cool. I hope I can enjoy games again one day, depression ruins everything.

My kneejerk reaction to the mystery image in the portal was the line on the ground that formed when you stepped up to Oryx' front door in the D2 campaign fight. The line on the ground moved forward and up the door and then opened..
Since when was regicide in destiny 2?
The image throught the reminds me of the Prophecy dungeon's dune section at one of the lit narrow passages to the concenting areas.

The thing with the vault is not a bug, when vault in orbit was added it was also possible, then Bungie fixed it (removed it) and then they put it back into the game and said that they are working on a way to open the Vault anywhere at any time
I explored first and I saw the portal as something different. My friends didn't believe me, but I knew something was different. Almost looks like a hallway in the Vex network in a pyramid environment. Thinking about it reminds me of season of the splicer. It would be interesting to see if we get a dungeon or raid that takes place in the vex net.
Through the portal the first time your shoes it reminded me of a broken road in the EDZ.

I remember thinking that, there may be a final sequence to enter at that portal after you entered the 'final', another sequence would play, and people just ignored that. I tried to decipher but I'm not smart enough to figure it out.
Im not sure if people notice but in dreaming city, the scorn ritual public event. For the heroic public event there used to be a big abomination boss but now its been replace to reanimated machinist.
Something is going down in the dreaming city by the looks of things...
Hasn't the public event always had multiple bosses? Abomination, Machinist, and a scorn captain?

The vault thing on activity screen was there a few weeks ago too.
Maybe it's like the original portal in the old whisper mission. You could find the other end of portal when doing catalyst run in VoG and see through it to see the old whisper mission. Maybe the other end is on some upcoming raid?
The vault access option from anywhere if you are host, has been a thing for a pretty long time now.. I think for as long as you have been able to access the vault from orbit, whenever that started.
At first glance, the new area inside the portal looks like the inside of a Pyramid with a river of radiolaria running through it
Kind of looks like the room at the end of the Starcrossed mission with the cat you needed to collect.
Is that not the image of the Wishkeeper missions after you jump through the portal at the end?
Makes me think of the hallway that The Witness is walking (floating?) down in their pyramid ship when we are first seeing them in Lightfall.
The 2nd image on the portal reminds me of the image of the possible tungsten Monoliths image of tall black structures with green hues.
It’s reminiscent of the dreadnaught, leading up to the fight with oryx in the taken king campaign.

The thing that kept catching my eye was the red object that was past the portal and saw whenever you jumped. The reticle even turned red when you FIRST got to the portal and it was in the area of the red box. What are those

@@feihnbuckland7011 the ONLY GLOWING RED ROCK? YOURE basically in a stone and Vex construct area and there’s only ONE rock that you can see THROUGH the portal AND is glowing red AND when the reticle hovered over it for that second the reticle turned red just like when you aim at an enemy. That’s not just a rock. But it could just be a bug
@@Lucky_Logan that was a red light shining onto a stone pillar. you can see it at 1:23. as for the reticle turning red it's been established that that happens in quite a few areas in the whisper mission (the current theory is that those are the oracles you need to shoot for the ship which have been time gated/ glitched) hope this clears things up and tempers your expectations.
@@Lucky_Logan can confirm that the reticle changing to red is the place of one of the next oracles at the place where the portal is, and the red lit rock is like that so you know how to return to the mission because you can't get back the way you came to the portal. I used that rock to get to the weakly lit platforms that return you to the normal mission path.
for some reason the inside of the portal kinda reminds me to some of the corridors inside the leviathan during season of the haunted
it also looks like a WAY darker version of the vex network, maybe that's how it looks for the xol divisive vex, or the taken vex

for the taken blight public event will the tormenter spawn up on any planet that has the taken blight or is just the dreaming city?

Portal was there in the original whisper mission it was either to get the ship or catalyst I can't remember for sure

EVAZE! Idk if you or anyone knows what Im talking about but I believe this could be io. In the PYRAMIDION STRIKE on io there was a a secret room I used to glitch into that had 2 VEX PORTALS. One was fully activated the other looked like it was semi activated but neither of them would teleport you anywhere. it was never used for anything and looked like it was dormant for future content. Also in the area before you jump down to the boss encounter if you just go around to the back side of the map theres an entire area that resembles the vault of glass I used have screen shots of it all on my old PS4. Now it doesnt look like the area shown in the portal from the new Whisper mission but that could be where it leads. They are both Vex portals and to me all of that really seemed like it was meant for something later on in the game

I don’t think it’s a bug, but I also don’t think that’s Radiolarion fluid. To me, it looks kinda like some rocky corridors from the Dreaming City’s lost sectors.
Ya know bungie teased that the vex aren’t fighting us for the witness and are off doing other things right now. So maybe it’s showing us a future area that we will get to explore. I think it’s a teaser. Maybe even a new vex raid.

The portal looks like it is to the entrance to the Shattered throne in the dream city.
If i’m being honest the dim white lighting and the angular walls make it look pyramid in design, but these are not the straight cut walls of a black fleet vessel. This is some o5er dark zone.
I'll bet we find out where that portal goes when Echoes comes out, or once all the oracles are available (probably not). There is no way that's an accident.

It looks like black garden or maybe some of the inside of the twisted world the witness is creating inside the traveller so there's many things you could take away from that portal

That is somewhere on the reef maybe look at 3:46 and pause quickly it looks like one of the lost sector areas anything special come to mind maybe Prison of Elders
The host being able to access the vault from anywhere has been like that in game a while now. I've known about it for at least 2 month

The image in the whisper mission is a reflection. Looks like we are looking at a pool of water and the fluid is on the roof
to me looks like a cave filled with water, with the white line on the floor being a reflection of light from overhead.
Evaze, that’s the inside of a Pyramid Ship. Or possibly inside the Witnesses Monolith. We saw in the Trailers, i believe this is what we see.
