চার দিনের সরকারি সফরে আগামীকাল চীন যাচ্ছেন প্রধানমন্ত্রী শেখ হাসিনা। ১০ জুলাই চীনের প্রেসিডেন্ট শি জিন পিং এর সাথে বৈঠকে ২০টি সমঝোতা স্মারক সই হতে পারে বলে জানিয়েছেন পররাষ্ট্রমন্ত্রী হাছান মাহমুদ। এছাড়া কয়েকটি উন্নয়ন প্রকল্প নিয়ে আলোচনা হতে পারে বলে জানিয়েছেন পররাষ্ট্রমন্ত্রী। এ নিয়ে কথা বলতে ধানমন্ডি থেকে আমাদের সাথে যোগ দিচ্ছেন সাবেক রাষ্ট্রদূত হুমায়ূন কবির।

বাংলাদেশের রংপুর অঞ্চল অন্যতম অবহেলিত অঞ্চল, বিশেষ করে তিস্তা নদীর দুইপাড়বাসীর বসবাসের আর কিছুই নেই। যার কারণে দারিদ্র্যতা কখনো পিছু ছাড়তে চায় না। তাই চীনের ফিজিবিলিটি স্টাডি রিপোর্ট অনুযায়ী তিস্তা মহাপরিকল্পনা বাস্তবায়িত হলে রংপুর অঞ্চলের নাম থেকে মঙ্গা নামটি মুছে যাবে।চীনের সহায়তায় তিস্তা মহাপরিকল্পনা বাস্তবায়ন চাই।
