“The Paradox of the Flame” is the second of a series of videos we have shot for “The Storm Within” album.
Working very closely with Patric Ullaeus and rEvolver Film Company our aim was to recreate the eerie and desolate sense we had while writing the songs for this - the 10th Evergrey album - One could say this is our first real attempt at inviting everyone into the cinematic world where we have been in mind and thought throughout this year while writing. We think the imagery speaks for itself. This is just the beginning. The storm is coming.

This band is one of most under etimated band in the metal music.
For me they play a different kind of metal it's emotional metal.

One of the most beautiful, moving and heartfelt songs Evergrey has written! I ❤ their heavy riffs and progressive tunes, but the passionate, emotional melancholy of some of their ballads is downright moving.
I remember hearing this when I was living with an ex of mine. We lived together for 6 months before I moved out. I really wanted things to work out and she didn't. This came on one night when her and I were coming home from work and I remember crying my eyes out. I won't get into all the details about it. Recently I've been trying to remember what song it was and finally did. This is truly a beautiful song and will always have a deep place in my heart.

Absolutely beautiful. I love Evergrey, and this song is a masterpiece. They harmonize so well. This is the perfect video for this song; the mood, atmosphere and visual imagery that helps to illustrate the message of desperation and loss amid the bleak hope portrayed. I couldn't imagine a better video for it. One of my favorites in a long time.
this song could be hands down their best tune ever ..not to mention the record itself could be their finest work.. tracks like Someday & Distance..this track alone is so deep, toms vocals have definitely taken a step forward. this video is amazing. the emotion in the waves, the color in the sky..Carina standing on a hilltop & Tom looking at her from the beach. mixed in with the music absolutely stunning! This song will always hit deep. From losing someone who was very close in my life due to cancer, losing my Grandmother due to Alzheimer's and fighting darkest of dark times due to my fight with alcohol addiction. I always turned to this song to find strength through it all. Evergrey will always be a band that I take to heart!

I particularly liked the video clip of "Distance" which in my opinion is more suited to the song (very good indeed, the best of Evergrey), although I must say that the images of this video are the most spectacular of Patric Ullaeus that I have seen and comply perfectly with the halo of mystery and desolation to be transmitted, but the idea of the video seems equal to "Distance".
