- Routing is the process of moving data between networks. A Router is merely a device whose primary purpose is Routing.
It's important to remember it this way because there are many types of devices that exist: Load Balancers, Forward Proxies, Reverse Proxies, Firewalls, IDS / IPS, and so on. Many of these claim to do Routing. Well, in each case they will follow the same rules of Routing which we describe in this video.

Hopefully you've come to realize that I put _a lot_ of effort into the content I create. I'm not a course creator that will simply turn on the screen recording and ramble, then call that teaching. I meticulously plan _every_ module and lesson to _maximize the learning and value_ for the student.

I firmly believe networks were modeled around a city plan. If you think about how our cities/towns are structured they are very similar. To send a package from one address to another you need a street number and name, suite/apt, city, state, and zip code. That’s for both the sender and recipient of that said package.
