You should really give it a run! My whole live I've been primarily about fishing the conventional way but I can say there is a serious feeling of accomplishment when you hook up on a fish with the fly.
I want to try, it seems like something you need to experience to fully appreciate. I'm down for a challenge it's a dope accomplishment. kfns
7citiesfishing if you do I would recommend a 5 or 6 weight rod, pretty versatile and easier to cast than a 3 weight
You really need to try. There is NOTHING like flyfishing. Its so......Zen. I flyfish fresh and salt. Bass, bluegill, TARPON...even carp. You REALLY NEED TO TRY! 6wt is about the best "all round " rod. Weight forward floating.

Lol your "micro tackle" is typical size for trout here in PA. Sometimes when they're finnicky we use stuff even smaller. People who primarily fish bass think all trout gear is "micro" lol

So cool. I love the Alaska videos. I used to work the summers on fishing boats in Alaska and on my days off I would hunt rainbows in the local streams. The largest I caught wasn't even as large as the smallest ones in your video. So cool. I also appreciated the can of bear spray on the hip of the guide - it never got old carrying that around.

I like the ole guide trick of measuring diagonally from the bottom jaw to the tip of the tail. “I’d give him 24” hahaha. Super nice fish but that cracked me up as a fly angler myself. Shoulda pinched the tail too!!!

A 4' ultralight spin rod with a micro reel and 4lb test line is all I need for trout.

The feeling of this type of fishing in just not comparable to others. I can relate so much the dad story taking you trout fishing with a power bait type set up and waiting for hours for a bite (what I thought to be trout fishing at a young age). Once I grew up and after many frustrated days on the river after buying a fly rod, its simply addicting once you begin to consistently land fish. This looks like a ton of fun and similar to remote streams and rivers here in Colorado. More need to be taught and shown how incredible fly fishing a river can be, rather than plopped on a lakes edge for three hours with a bobber and a box of night crawlers.
