- During this phone conversation, Reginald Dumas, former ambassador to Ethiopia (amongst many other portfolios), gives a personal account of his involvement in the orchestration of, as well as the circumstances surrounding the 1966 state visit by H.I.M Haile Selassie I , Emperor of Ethiopia to Trinidad and Tobago, and Jamaica.

Because I know of the history of these wonderful people and because I know of the sentiments the people of Jamaica entertain for the Ethiopian people, I have always wished to come and visit Jamaica. Now, thank God, this wish of mine has been fulfilled.

I am skeptical about the claim that H.I.M. told this man to tell Rastas to stop calling Him God.
He never told the Jamaican Fact Finding Mission Rastas to stop calling Him God and He never told the Jamaican Rastas that either in 1966.

"on this day which neither men of earth or angels in heaven could have known or foreseen, I give thanks, unutterable by the mouth of man, to the living God who has enabled to be present with you today"
How can Haile Selassie know what the angels in Heaven could not foresee??? ........ because he is God in flesh

"Peace, universally heralded by the angels at the birth of the Saviour, has become even more necessary to mankind THAN EVER BEFORE. The alternatives confronting Governments of today are no longer peace or war, but peace or the annihilation and complete doom of mankind"

Bullcrap, The reason His Majesty was in the west because Canada had invited HIM to attend and be the guest of honour for the opening of Canadian EXPO Celebration that was held in Montreal that year. There was even an Ethiopian exhibition. Visiting the Caribbean was a last minute stop over thing. Thus it was not as if HIS Majesty left Ethiopia to go to Trinidad or Jamaica. He not telling the truth, google Canada xepo 67.
It was in April 1966 that the Emperor visited the Caribbean, not 1967.
