- Have you done this route yet? Done it in the summer and thinking of trying a winter traverse? Let me know! I think this video could have been more informative if things had gone wrong, but it was a pretty near-perfect day.
Comment if you want a gear/clothes/food breakdown video!

What an absolutely beautiful view! No wonder you pushed thru! WOW, nice job! Oh, and the filming was ON POINT! Knocked it out of the park! Keep up the great work!
I've watched this video a few times and I am still blown away at how your pulled this off in the winter!!!!! I've done it in the summer and really want to do it in the winter. Simply inspiring, and the views of the clouds hugging the ravines is just amazing, well done!!!!!😁😁😁😁 I will be sharing this with my CZcams partner and try to make this happen, thanks for the inspiration!!!!
Loved doing that route in the summer but it took us MUCH longer (Started at 6AM and finished at 10PM), so I don't think I could do it in the winter. Then again we stopped at both huts and the Washington summit for snacks and pics with the summit sign, so that could have added quite a bit of time. But I loved the scenery up there, especially the undercast early on.
wow, I'm impressed. nice going abby, thanks for sharing!
This was great. I did it in summer… You got amazing weather!
I just happened to run into your video and was blown away that you did this by yourself. This is epic. Cheers to you.
Omg, this looks incredible! I've hiked it a few times in the summer but never in the winter! I can only imagine how dicey it gets at times, especially given the dramatic nature of Washington.
I love being up there in the winter. Summer is too easy😂
Awesome-thanks for bringing me along
wow! you are really good at what you do. I worked on the Cog for the past 3 years I miss those views.
Awesome that hike is serious Especially alone !!
Amazing...you killed it!!
Just finished this traverse over president’s day weekend. Those conditions looked great! Great video! Thanks for posting up!
What a way to spend the day!!
Rocking the presidential’s in winter who would have thought.
Wow...you got some great video.....but what a scary hike to do solo.
Beautiful scenery
definitely interested in your gear and clothing list - going second weekend in December
Amazing! Your dad speaks highly of you, I can see why. Thats quite the hike. I would like to hike some of those someday. I'm only 19 so I've got time.
Epic. You didn’t need crampons & an axe?! Only done this in the summer but planning on this and huntingtons in the winter. I am psyched. Subscribed!
Beautiful views 💕
Absolute Savage! Great footage and fantastic weather. Heading up this week to attempt a traverse. I feel like im overpacked but definitely want to be ready for the weather.
Glad I found this channel. We do these things 🤓
Just came across this video watching similar videos. I must say that you are really brave to do this hike in the winter time. Simply amazing 👍
Looked like a nice day 👍
Beautiful Views!!!
Amazing weather window. Good call on the timing. I have never been on Washington when it wasn't windy.
Beautiful! This lit a fire in me to get out and do more winter hiking. Thanks!
Wowza times 3.14 and beyond...BRAVO!
Summer of 1974 for me and wouldn't try it now or the wintertime or solo now that I'm 61 years young....Bless you!
I love those tights/leggings - would like to get some, brand name? Please? Are they made for hiking or just normal tights?
TY
Was this one day? How far is it?
Great cinematography, Great Trip, awesome views BUT Dear Lord, that backpack is tiny. What did you bring? Where is your tent and sleeping bag? Clothes, Stove, etc????
Yes, one day! It's about 19 miles with 8500 ft of gain. Didn't need anything else for a day trip. :) Just completed this route a month ago in 5 hrs 49 mins!
@abbyjbennett thank you first view I skimmed through, didn't realize it was a 1day trip. 20 miles a day is a good pace.
@abbyjbennett 6 hours is great. (In case you did not know ) a LEAGUE is 3 miles, it is the distance a Roman soldier is supposed to travel in 1 hour, under full pack. They were supposed to do 20 - 24 miles a day. (If you knew that I apologize for being pedantic)
💥🎊🎉 happy new year 🎉🎊💥
Commenting because it's good for the YT algorithm.
JOEY !!
Awesome job. Thanks for sharing.
Waaaaw soo freezing 😋😍😍 nice 👍🏻 work
Great job ! Wish I had better luck w weather on 2/19/22. Too much wind (over 70 mph) over Madison to complete 10 peaks
Wow, awesome video. I expected longer video since you hiked 3 great mountains. But keep up your hike.
Beast mode! Great job 👏 That traverse is no joke
Hard Core!
Awesome vlog, great job
I must know...were you prepared for an overnight? that pack looks a little small...enjoyed the vid though, good work...see you on the trail!
In light of the recent Chris Roma tragedy, you make an excellent point, even though I would guess the weather forecast was more benign. That said...Abby - you crushed it!
Awesome! What did you use for footwear? I've tried the winter traverse several times (as a backpacking trip, not in-a-day) and had to bail each time due to wind/weather. Always in mountaineering boots, but I assume you were wearing something less clunky? I'd love to go for a winter one-day if I get a weather window someday.
Beautiful
Attractive places dream country love to live there
I see the cats awake at 4:00 a. m., lol...
Would love to know what gear and clothing you used and how you layered up. Only done Washington in the summer. Thanks.
Did you need snowshoes? What was the total time? Also - was it faster or slower than summer? Sometimes it seems like winter can be faster especially on the downhill.
✌😘
This is great, but a word of caution to others: (i) you had good weather, which is true of most youtube videos but is not the case for all mountain trips; anyone who gets into serious trouble is probably not recording, and won’t be posting their videos on youtube. (ii) it looks like you are an accomplished mountain athlete, and most people watching this won’t be able to match your pace or finish this route in daylight during winter. (iii). There is not much room for error here, and if anything had gone wrong you could quickly have been in serious danger as a solo hiker in winter conditions. It happens to less experienced hikers (eg Emily Sotelo, who died on nearby Mt Lafayette last November) but also to those who are more experienced (eg well-known actor Julian Sands, who died on Mt Baldy in CA, having climbed it many times previously). So please encourage people to be cautious and not try this alone unless they understand the risks and are well prepared.
Thanks, but I expect people to be able to figure this out on their own! If people truly want to be safe, they will do the research. Me throwing in a thousands disclaimers won't help someone who doesn't want to help themselves. I already noted that the weather was ideal in the video.
You seem offended somehow
Would luv your recipe for the power/carb bars.
I don't really use a recipe, just kind of throw together a mix of peanuts, dates, coconut oil, maple syrup, vanilla, salt, and chocolate chips! You can't really go wrong, you got this!
you are one badass woman! great video.
Er.Isn’t this really hard. Like people die on it hard? 20 miles up and down all day in minus 50 hard ? Fastest wind speeds in the world hard.? Not nice stroll with a biscuit and touch up my mascara easy?
You can die if you make poor decisions and go out in the wrong weather! Also, I was referring to the ice on my eyelashes as mascara though I did have eyeliner on as I like to look fabulous when I do cool things ;)
