設計師夫妻陳顯貴和王慧，結婚已經10年，2015年，他們租下了寧波郊區一幢老廠房，耗時2年，打造了一個超美的家。陳顯貴喜歡收藏藝術品、雕像、古董家具，王慧擇偏愛輩子、碗、器皿，但對於買什麼，夫妻倆從來沒有分歧，陳顯貴說：“我們總覺得對方買得對，我有多愛藝術品，也只有我太太一個人懂。”
Chen Xiangui and Wang Hui, both as designers, have married for 10 years. In 2015, they rent an old factory in the suburbs of Ningbo and spent 2 years creating a wonderful home. Chen Xiangui like collecting art pieces, sculptures and furniture, while Wanghui takes a fancy into cups, bowls and utensils. But they’ve never got differences. ‘We always think the other buys the right thing. My wife is the only one who understands my love for art pieces,’ said Chen.

It's great that such a lease agreement is possible. You'd never get such a chance in the UK, for example
its not just a rental space, its a physical business card as designers. Also, any and most industrial/commercial spaces will allow you to modify the property as needed
It’s a live-work space and also their portfolio of actual work experience/ business project .. that’s they can boast / advertise - Infact.. right here.. 😂

This is definitely not normal. Your worry does make sense.
only very few will spend so much on the renovation of a house you do not own, and most of the ones who did spend a lot are the designers.
IMO it is kind of strategy stuff. For example, if you rent it for 10 years then you may will have chance to extend another 20 years afterwards, I'd say they're waiting for new policy instead of simply rent it.
