I don't think it was a fair battle only because of how different the genre of music and dance. Both groups delivered their respective energy and intensity that suited the song so I feel like you can't compare their energy and say that one didn't match the other. Deja Vu is more scandalous and vibey whereas maverick is up beat. Respect y'alls opinion tho, i think it was just a weird battle. Deja Vu would have been great with The Stealer for example.

They are not only fantastic dancers, but amazing performers too. I don’t understand some comments here in the comment section trying to compliment The Boyz synchronization but at the same time downgrading The Boyz stage presence. When it comes to synchronization, it doesn’t mean that a group does not have a great stage presence too. Did they even see their live performances? They won Road to Kingdom for a reason. I hope those comments will not give people thoughts that The Boyz only have good synchronization, cause they have more than that. :(

As a dancer, I’ll have to say maverick is WAYYYYY A LOT more harder to do, the moves are very detailed and requires so much control and for idols, theyre more hip hop based but maverick had a lot of krump elements them singing live doing hard choreo and being SO synchronised too is mad respect. Learning maverick was insanely tiring but fun btw. im not being biased tho atz are great dancers but the choreo is easier to master

Maverick choreo is definitely hard so I wouldn't mind if they actually lip sync during the performance cause I know full well that tbz can definitely sing (you can look at maverick encore performance. Raw vocalsss 👍) For maverick stage, I notice that they do use louder back track to aid their live singing, which is totally fine with me. Dancing while singing is indeed hard. If you wanna hear live singing while dancing then I recommend Maverick music bank stage. The live vocals are much more clear and the back track is minimal on mubank (and needless to say, THEY SLAYED).
Tbh for me in 4th gen kpop ateez is king of 4th gen stage presence/performers while the boyz is king of 4th gen dancer. Both of them are really great. For synchronize , the boyz are the most perfect in 4th gen followed by enhypen. Also ateez have said that they dont put synchronize as their most priority bc they said they want and love to show their own dance colour each member. They have showed their synchronization before this like say my name and kq fellaz performance. Ateez stage presence is top tier.

when you do these dance battles you should definitely try and match the songs together so its not a "slow" song pit against a "upbeat" song. when you do battles/comps you never put contemporary against hip hop. just a suggestion, loved the reaction though

There are diff types of kpop choreos...the boys are synchro kings..ateez are performance kings. If you put ateez against someone it should be someone like Oneus or CIX because the choreo isnt high energy synchro acro based..their choreo tells a story while being heavy with character that shines from each member.

I prefer Ateez because each member is their own character-plus they can do perfect choreo in sync-they choose the acting over synchronized.
Also I wonder why you didn’t choose one of their harder dances? I don’t think the songs are comparable. Fireworks or Wonderland are more energetic.
Ateez always sings live-but if you notice the choreo with Ateez the people singing are often featured with less aggressive choreo.
Check out Ateez Immortal songs performances. They are live on that show (no lip syncing allowed but back tracks are permitted).
THE BOYZ are known for their performances and synchronization. Road To Kingdom and Kingdom are examples of their amazing performances. They have won end of the year awards for performance.
Wish u had picked a different choreos that matched eachother well- eg. A hard hitting one with a hard hitting one. I still prefer ATEEZ since I love how they show of their different dancing styles and the deja Vu choreo is really unique - but thanxx or wonderland, or say my name choreo would have been better to put against the Boyz maverick I think.
Though I really appreciate more ateez content- it’s just a bit risky to put these two together as fandoms aren’t too friendly with eachother after kingdom survival show
Also I recommend ENHYPEN’S “Go big or go home” for a high energy choreo which would have probably went better with maverick in energy ! Choreo is really good and synchronisation is crazy
As far as I know The Boyz still sing live to some parts of maverick. Of course they are backed by the tracked while performing but I think Sangyeon still does the high note near the end live.

I am atiny and we all know the boyz are the kings of choreo in this generation of kpop. But ateez come right behind the boyz. These two choreos have a different concept so it is kind of on what concept you prefere. Sexy was ateez. Powerfull was the boyz. Nice video tho, i like this idea of dance practices against each other

I'm going to give this one to the boyz. The choreography was everything. We have to keep in mind that these are two very different styles, and both choreographies suited its song well. Wonderland vs The Stealer is a tough choice for me, but I look forward to it.

I dont think any 4th gen group is on ateez’s level when it comes to performance. They are so good at expressing themselves, even if its a dance practice. Its shocking that theyre only 4th gen. They were born to be on the stage. But tbz is very good too! Their dances are so good and nice to watch, im seeing them live next month!

Just to let you know #THEBOYZ are ATEEZ SUNBAES who are under a different agency since they debuted long before ATEEZ, even though some of the members maybe around the same age and older. THE BOYZ are still very underrated which hurts my heart & angers me deeply to see them working their butts off with little recognition and promotions etc.
They are not underrated anymore too they are literally one of most popular bg/most popular 4th gen bg and best charting 4th gen bg in korea.Also their intl fandom is growing bigger

14:13 i think he made a very good point. ateez storytell a lot through their choreography, which can get missed, but even from the beginning, the centre members where dancing at a fast pace and the posterior members were doing the first move in slow motion, as if they were disoriented. this is can be applied to other moments like hongjoong sinking to his knees whilst everyone moves around him. with the amount of pauses, the quick and slow pace throughout, it’s almost like a video being played and it being paused, slowed down, sped up, rewinded etc. like deja vu, it’s the feeling of experimenting something again without fully remembering, fully being sure.

Absolutely love the hell out of both of these groups, so this was tough!! I feel like they both always bring something fresh and fun to the table with incredible energy, and I think solely focusing on the choreo (despite the differing style of both that and the music that they've been tailored to), TBZ takes it for my personal taste. The Maverick choreo had me in awe from the first time I saw it. I do love the more sensual nature of Deja Vu, but the sharpness of Maverick is just...maaaaan. They had me considering risking my knees to learn it😮💨

I likeboth groups but I'm gonna go with Maverick. TBZ was a lot more stable. Deja vu is still so good though. Someone get KQ a new floor because the slipping was giving me so much stress.

Synchronization, stage presence, expression, energy, creativity, vocals, raps, versatility, storytelling and also visuals; they have them all and not lacking in anything, other than less recognition from international kpop community.
I prefer deja vu more because it's a lot more sexy and charismatic.
I’ve seen both Ateez and The Boyz live on multiple occasions, kingdom, and have covered both groups (and it’s so funny that it was both of these songs I’m screaming). They are SO different from each other but they’re both fantastic.
The Boyz have a lot of members and their choreographers use that to their complete advantage when making formations and choreographing visually pleasing moves. They’re so synchronized and uniform it’s almost like they have one collective mind when they’re dancing. They can move around a lot more because only a few of them sing the most while the rest of the lines are spread out so a lot of the members focus on dancing (although I wish the members who don’t get lines could get some more) and there is never a dull moment on stage and watching them is just at it’s baseline so fucking cool. Every time I go back and watch there are details I’ve missed and sequences I love to watch and their choreographies are so fun and full-bodied (read: nearly made me pass out after our first take when we filmed the cover) and I hope you can check out more from them.
Ateez are stage giants. I have seen a handful of groups amongst their peers with such stage presence and commitment to character but Ateez is so special. They’re also very synchronized but they tend to focus more on individual styles while still being cohesive as a group to show you their personalities; that they’re up there because they deserve to be on stage and that they love every second of it. They’re an average sized group, so the choreography is usually going to be in the actual movements rather than formations and their vocal line is very stable but there are less of them so formation changes are usually resting periods. Deja Vu is probably the absolute tamest of their choreo and I’d be excited for you to see more from them.
I really highly recommend watching Road To Kingdom and Kingdom if you want to get a good standing of what both groups are like (as well as the others on the show). The Boyz were on both while Ateez was only on Kingdom, but they were both groups with phenomenal stages (especially Ateez). Thank you for reacting!
I love these Kpop choreo battles you guys do, but if I were to make one suggestion, I would ask whoever chooses the songs to make sure they have the same vibes if that makes sense, so like for example, ateez’s wonderland would have been a great choreo to compare to maverick because it gives hype and epic vibes. It’ll help with the bias in my opinion and give the 2 artists that are compres a better playing field if that makes sense. Otherwise love the content!!
Ateez definitely took this one for me. There is always a story in their dancing and each individual gets to shine.
I think you should compare groups with more things in common or at least use similar sounding songs. As everyone has mentioned- ATEEZ has crazy choreo and are well known to sing and dance live (hence their title as 4th gen performance kings) while The Boyz are known for their intricate choreo and crazy synchronicity with a lot of members, similar to Seventeen.
That being said- I’d have to go with ATEEZ. They bring something very raw and real to Kpop, focusing on storytelling, facial expressions and individual flair in choreo while staying as a very cohesive unit (another reactor/pro dancer always refers to them as a wolf pack which I find fitting). And while The Boyz choreo is VERY satisfying to watch, it’s not something I haven’t already seen in Kpop already imo.

i think that Hala Hala would have been a better match with Maverick than Deja Vu, just cause of the energy level in them both is similar ( Maverick and Hala Hala both have similar up beat kinna hype energy ) whereas Deja Vu is more on the "smooth" side. i love both ateez and the boyz so much but The Boyz will always win in the dance category for me. live vocals wise? Ateez definitely, Ateez has the best live vocals of 4th gen imo, but dance? 100% The Boyz. Ateez are incredible performers and incredible dancers, but their choreos aren't as complex (They obviously aren't easy but I'm sure you get what I mean lol) and they aren't as in sync.
You should check out both groups live performances on Kingdom. They're both amazing performance groups but ATEEZ in my opinion just has everything😊

y’all gotta remember they make these choreos for stages when a member leaves the stage they will be hidden at the ends of the stage away from the camera and stage, they can be swaying and shit cause they do these dance practices as they would perform it at any music show. plus the reason why not all members dance at the same time is it’s very hard to choreograph group dances with over 4 people having to highlight the center person while making sure everyone in the back doesn’t take away the spotlight is a very hard task aswell as the people who choreograph these dances are usually professional dancer who are used to choreographing for one person and presenting it in a workshop environment. plus the way kpop songs are in these verses and quickly switching between members it’s going to be very hard to find a way to highlight those singing/rapping while every single member is there sometimes it’s just not possible especially if it’s a vocally hard song or even physically challenging in the dance they need time to rest overwhise they would be dancing full energy for 3-4 minutes which is very very hard. just wanted to say this as it’s a topic brought up almost everytime in these dance battles

The Boyz don't lip-sync however, to sing with this choreography, they divide up the song well enough when there are these many members as well. Synchronising the number of members together as well.
