My Rush Playlist! • Rush
In this La Villa Strangiato guitar lesson video series, I will take you note-for-note through this instrumental masterpiece by Rush.
There are 12 sections total to this epic piece of music, so because of that, I have broken the tutorial up into two separate videos. The first video will cover the entire song minus Alex Lifeson's two guitar solos. In the second video lesson, I will tackle those two solos.
I will call out the minute and second mark as well as the name of each section I am covering during the course of the lesson.
This instrumental starts with a cool flamenco style guitar intro. I will grab my nylon string acoustic for that part of the lesson.
For the rest of the track, I will use my strat and take a look at every section of the song in the order that each appears.
If you ever get this song down in it's entirety, please send me a video link of you playing it. It is quite the accomplishment! #lavillastrangiatoguitarlesson #rush #guitarcovers
Enjoy! Carl - Hudba

I haven't even started this lesson yet, but I'm so incredibly grateful and surprised that you took the time to put this together. You are a gift to us all who love the guitar but don't have the time to slow down tracks and meticulously break out every note. I'm sure you receive a lot of love in the comments, but I hope you know how much your contributions are appreciated.
I didn't see that coming!!!!!!!!!!2112 next please???????
These kinds of breakdowns make you realize how genius Alex is. Unreal job making this usable! 🙌🙌🙌
As much as how amazing and great this lesson is, it only makes me long for the day you make a 2112 lesson haha! But great work here indeed!
RC32 that’s gonna be like a 4 hour video haha
@@rickgrimes2056 And ye know what, I wouldn't mind at all lol. It's a song I've always wanted to learn completely, and Carl just always knows what he's doing
I never did finish this song from beginning to end. About 30 years ago i spent 6 months or so on it. Got most of it but it wasnt easy. Now there is the internet and youtube. This is in my top 5 Rush all time favorites. Thanks for posting man. Well done.
I wasn't expecting this masterpiece - thank you so much! Do more rush songs please... starting with the trees.
Aside from the two videos of Lerxst himself showing how to play Limelight and Tom Sawyer, this is hands down the best guitar tutorial on CZcams. Thank you for all the hard work that went into this!
I've been waiting years for this!
Please do more Rush songs. I know how to play most of them, but it's awesome to see a professional show us exactly how they did it. Thanks so much for the great work!
"For my own personal sanity". HA! One of my favorite lines to use. Nice job, btw.
WOW! Like the Heartbreaker solos... I never thought you'd do this.
How about some 2112 next please??? and thank you. \m/
Can u please do a video on Working Man by Rush?

Carl you are an absolute legend ! We need more RUSH !!!!!!!!
Brilliant guitar lesson thankyou so much! Love it how you don't talk for half hour before you get into the lesson to!
Guys, i was waiting for this. I love you
I cannot thank you enough for doing this!!
Great lesson,Carl!! Alex Lifeson is so underrated!!
YES!!!! Thank you
Hell yeah. I sorta played the whole thing kinda! Thanks!
Sounds incredible Carl!
You have been a great help to me. Thank you for making a childhood song that I've always wanted to play easy to understand how to play. I'm still practicing it, have work to do but having fun now doing so. Im new to this utube thing. I've subscribed to your channel I think that's what you call it. Any how many time I want to learn a song I'm going to look you up first. Thanks again.
You definitely put the extra work in this one. Sounds like you helped a few people including myself finish this one . Herculean effort .
Maybe a ZAppa song in the near future ?
i like your videos brother, keep em comming.
Thanks for the Rush lessons. Time Stands Still was my class (‘93) song and their music was a major part of the soundtrack of my youth. The passing of Neil Peart hit me like a ton of bricks.
Rip Neil... Heart broken
A little tip , when sliding in the A D E barre chord progression as you show at 16:15 , barre across and play the 6th string on the D and E chords . If you listen on the record you can hear that doubled 5th on the low end of those chords. It’s a common Lifeson technique that gives a richer sonic palette and fills in space in a 3 piece. So play a regular A barre , but for the next chord when you barre the D chord at the 5th fret the fingering is: 6th and 5th strings at the 5th fret, 4th , 3rd , 2nd strings at 7th fret , 1st string 5th fret. Slide the whole thing up two frets . Playing that bottom string really adds some chunk to it. Have fun.
There is a live version on Exit Stage Left. All electric, notes are clean as well.
Thank you man!
You’re a legend
Alex was definitely a phenomenal guitar player. I feel that he never really got the recognition that he truly deserves. Kinda the same way that Triumph was overshadowed by Rush. Great vid anyway. 🤘🤘
Dude you are talking about him like he's dead?!?! You know he can still play right?
I don't know dude. Rush are more popular today than they ever were. I think alot more poeple recognize Rush than ever. He's even got guitars done in his name lol.
@@jasonbeansguitars yeah but Rush is of the rare breed of rock band in which the guitar player is probably the least popular member. Peart and Lee are hailed as a couple of the best in their field more often compared to Lifeson. It's pretty crazy considering how unique and amazing his parts are. He can write great riffs, great progressions, and great solos. I'd still call him underrated.
Again with 'this player is so underrated or not appreciated'...everyone knows how good he is
Rush!!!!!!! Fantastic.
I'm so happy with this.
Carl, u da man! Thanks soooo much. BTW, Danfoth and Pape is an intersection in the east end of Toronto .
Hey Carl, I looked up your most recent upload to say Thank you. I have played for 30 years, really, and never had a lesson. In the last 1.5 years, You have really Helped Me progress, and reach a level I didn't think I could. Playing these song's until it's smooth, from G.N.R to Zeppelin. I have gained these different styles. I free styled for like 3-4 hours the other night. My wife of 15 years, says" I don't think You realize how far you have come to Me. Thank You Very Much!
Clay
Awesome Clay! Thanks for the message!
Thank you!!!
epic indeed!
Awesome video Carl, as usual. I remember you saying you wanted to do more early Megadeth stuff in a live stream once but the audio was too bad, but the latest remastered version fixes that, so could you maybe check out "Looking Down The Cross?" Thank you!
The 79 pink pop live is insane. That brought me here
Dude you are badass🤘😆🤘🎸🤘🎸🤘🤘😆😆😆🖤
This gonna take some time
Oh my fucking god, the day has come.
YES I LOVE YOU
Could you do circumstances by rush? That would be awesome
Thank you for making videos. It really helps me as a guitarist. Without you I would have never learned Pull Me Under by Dream Theater (a song two months later, I still can’t play the solo parts at full speed but still your lesson helped me learn) One day I hope to be as good as John Petrucci, and I hope you continue to make lessons of the classic rock/metal bands I love. It has helped me immensely, also I know you probably won’t do it anytime soon since you JUST did a Rush song, but 2112 would be freaking awesome. Honestly Rush, Dream Theater, Yes, King Crimson, and advice on how to solo like John Petrucci would be super appreciated. Thank you for making these I hope you have a great day!
" i hope to be as good as John Petrucci" dat's imposible dude
I don’t think so, I practice six-ten hours everyday. With time, practice, and dedication, you can grow from a clueless person who never played a guitar, to playing Eruption like it’s easy. It
probably took Carl a long time until he could play the way he does now.
That’s the spirit!
Can we get 2112 next?
Thank you (:
Love this song. Can you do one on 2112.
The Strat is back!
Hey Carl lover your channel! Could you please make a guitar lesson on temple of the dogs wooden jesus, or other temple of the dog songs?
Can you please do a guitar lesson on unholy confessions.
F yeah!
Please do Mary Had a Little Lamb next, beginner version if possible.
Yes do a separate video for the solo too
@@sharkzoomer 😁
Definitely the Stevie Ray Vaughan version
Carl you are much better than you think
No way, holy crap dude
Monsters! Section is based on Raymond Scott’s ‘Powerhouse’. This theme was used on Looney Tunes Movies. :-)
Think you could do the solo lesson for "I am free" by Kipelov? That's
one kickass solo, but it's not very popular since it's a russian band. I
tried to learn it by ear, but it seems a little too complicated, so
really could use some Carl Brown magic here! Thanks a lot for your vids
and kudos from mother Яussia :)
Hello, Brilliant Video. Is there a Tab that you are following and where can I download it? Thank you.
Will you please do a tutorial on dollar bill by the screaming trees
Easier than I thought!, but I still wish I could play some jimi Hendrix

It’s a chorus pedal, I think.

Awesome job, the attempts to pronounce the most pretentious titles in rock made me smile.
"The Monster Part" = "Powerhouse by Raymond Scott"...or as I like to call it. "The Bugs Bunny Part."
