wasn't just flowers, or reawakening, it's also the passage of time. And although i've no knowledge of the associated book, that's something else that could've been taken from to assist with being on theme. Tiny pebbles could've hung from slightly frayed lapels for instance and it would still be on brand for Willow. A garden has trees, bark, soil, fruit, grass etc. Even anything recognisably associated with gardening would be on theme.
