They most definitely do. Sad to say, Andrew's voice is now shot. Anyone thinking otherwise is just deluding themselves. Wayne's voice has just got better and better with age.
Why ? Sure i prefer the Bass baritone vocals over this but even Eldtrich live sings it just like this but with more weeping. They did a pretty good cover of their own song and thats that
Is something wrong with that woman's microphone? Or is she just acting like she is singing at times when she isn't? There were times when her voice came through but much of the time she was mouthing words into the mic it looked like she was fake singing to me? Cool Goth dancing either way.
Yes, I understand... it's sometimes hard to listen to her even when you're there, at the concert. But I'd guess she sang the backing vocal line (the repetitions of "Marian") all too softly.
Yep, had a few mic problems at one or two of the concerts. The singer's Evi Vine, she was a subtle but very well chosen addition to the lineup for the backing vocals. Well impressed, her own band's good too.
Craig's German sounds different to Andrew's original, but I can't quite hear what he's singing ("Was ich kann, und was ich könnte, weiß ich gar nicht mehr. Gib mir wieder etwas schönes, zieh' mich aus dem Meer"). Anyway, this is miles better than the Sisters' current version. Thanks, Wayne, for giving us a great rendition of what is, after all, primarily _your_ song.
Wayne hussey version of marian good but Andrew eldritch is better live in 1985 in my opinion i find it funny because hussey was in the sisters of mercy and also Craig adams the song was written by Andrew and Wayne hussey
yeah sorry my mistake was by Wayne not marx still good song but i prefer Andrew version live when gary marx ,wayne hussey , Craig adams were in the band before they split in 85 I'll change it
I know it's blasphemy to say, but I quite like Wayne's version- both here and the 7". Andrew's is excellent, but tSoM sound hasn't aged all that well. The Mission... they've aged like fine wine imo.
You're quite right in your analysis Cyril. The Mission are as good live today as they were in 1990. Sadly, when I last saw TSoM in 2016, much as I like their albums, Eldritch's voice is completely shot these days, and frankly a bit of an embarrassment. He really should consider packing it in, it's THAT bad. I'd not go to see TSoM again live, much as I love their music, but will happily follow The Mission to whatever gig they're playing. The contrast is that wide.
Andrew Eldritch should have done done the backing-vocals on this... Haha(i'm only joking... Andrew Eldritch was the Brain in Sisters of Mercy, Wayne Hussey was one of their best guitarist, assistant vocalists and Songwriter.) I think.
Hussey wrote all the 5 first songs of First and last and always. (Not time to cry with collaboration) All you prefer from the sisters is Wayne's (and Adams') music... (black planet, walk away, not time to cry, a rock and a hard place, Marian,... ) Eldritch is only credited on Possession in cooperation with... Hussey and Adams. But Eldritch wrotes all the lyrics. I guess Eldritch couldn't cope with the growing implication of Hussey and Adams in the sisters of mercy. He was losing control, that was not possible in his sick brain.
Evi Vine's a bloody good backing singer for The Mish, and a good artist in her own right and band. Her vocals worked superbly live and she was anything other than what you claim.
I thought it was an improvement over when the Sisters played it less than six months earlier. Sadly Andrew's lost his singing voice these days whereas Wayne's has improved. Hearing it live was a much better experience than the video gives it credit for, they nailed it.
escaton74 Qué gracioso eres, tío! Todos sabemos de quién es la canción Y también me parece que esta versión rompe la original en mil pedazos (los coros son terribles!!)
But at least he has talent. And wrote the original music. I'd offer up Andrew singing as far more ridiculous - have you heard him these days? My mother sings better, sadly. :(
Yeah maybe he was lucky enough to be in the right spot at the right time, but with his vocals and own songs he NEVER showed any talent. I'd rather listen to the used up original voice of one of the most talented songwriters in that genre than to a lame pretender and his copy-and-paste lyrics.
@@HermannsTheGermans Errrr, hate to point out that you're totally wrong, but Wayne Hussey WROTE THE SONG. take a look on the album. He's credited with it. There in print, clear as day. I'm looking at my copy now. So, what did you think he did Hermann The Troll, stand there and smile? As for talent, well, you're contradicting directly the opinion of the man who you're so very evidently a FanBoi of: Andrew Eldritch himself has said on record that Wayne was the best guitarist the Sisters ever had. Feel free to tell Von that his own opinion is wrong ! 😀 So: Suck it up Princess. It's official. Oh, and the copy and paste lyrics you think are so "lame"? Bad news again fanboi. Andrew Eldritch wrote them. #knowyourhistoryfanboi
Not these days it's not. The original was good, but Andrew's not got the voice he once had. :( Given how low Andrew used to sing, Wayne did a pretty good job getting his voice down that low for an entire track - it's not easy singing out of your natural range.
This is like hearing Johnny Marr singing "how soon is now"... surprising, but awesome. But they need to plug that bird's mic in.
Marian is Hussey's song (except lyrics)
Different voices.. Hussey sings, whereas Eldritch only "speaks".
@@tricosteryl excused me? eldritch is hundred times better musician my friend
I'll plug her in. Give us her no.
I love the mission......but Sisters are, or were sisters......forever and ever.....the worlds end a movie about sisters love....
Aż miło popatrzeć i posłuchać, stary dobry Black Gothic rock, super 👍
Most excellent! Thanks for uploading :-)
thanks for sharing. x
Love it! Seeing them soon I hope they do this!
Wonderful version
Nadie como Andrew para cantar Marian !!!!!
Great version, sounds more like The Sisters back then than The Sisters do now!
Don't trip!
They most definitely do. Sad to say, Andrew's voice is now shot. Anyone thinking otherwise is just deluding themselves.
Wayne's voice has just got better and better with age.
Of course it does, this is played again on a 12-string of which the main sound is chorus, not distortion or overdrive 😉
Indeed...
bedankt da
Mega Brilliant 😎😎😎
MUSICA MARIAN DO GRUPO THE SISTERS OF MERCY 1987
The Power of Beauty!
You called me, I'm sorry you were asleep
its official....hussey has won the who still sports their own hair competition.
And voice.
QUem que é aquela louca no palco??
Whooooo
ri-di-cu-lous !
Why ?

Marian is my friend's name
Drummers got a hard job...!!!
Haha
Kate Bush looking good there
Southmead Lad haha best comment so far
I'll give Evi credit. She sings way, WAY better than Kate Bush. And I'm quite a fan of Kate Bush. Extraordinary talents, both of them.

Not really. She does sing, but mostly soft backing vocals. At times she sings more clearly, as you've noticed... in the chorus or so.
Check out what I'm saying at 1:38 to 1:45. She appears to be singing into the Mic and there's no vocals at all?
Yes, I understand... it's sometimes hard to listen to her even when you're there, at the concert. But I'd guess she sang the backing vocal line (the repetitions of "Marian") all too softly.

Perfect

No. The music was written by Wayne Hussey and the lyrics by Andrew Eldritch. He just plays his own song.
No this is a damn site better than the Sisters' current heavy rock version!
yeah sorry my mistake was by Wayne not marx still good song but i prefer Andrew version live when gary marx ,wayne hussey , Craig adams were in the band before they split in 85 I'll change it

Unfortunately so much better than Sisters of Mercy right now. The magic is there. Sisters version is so disco.

Andrew Eldritch could record an appearance on the upcoming Mission album.
Wayne's actually extended friendly invites to him but he doesn't respond, apparently.
Leave the classics alone.
😂
Why? Wayne wrote it. Andrew can no longer sing it.
Your statement makes no logical sense.
Or lacks knowledge of history.
WTF is Craig singing?
The German lyrics.
For those who are still doubting: TSOM current live version: czcams.com/video/eHeJSzxvCxE/video.html It's so dreadful.
Yep, sadly seen them three times in the last five years. Andrew's voice is shot, don't let anyone convince you otherwise. Shame.
The Mission will always be better than the sisters in live.
Wayne has the most intense voice
Oh not realy..
Never!!!!
Bullshit
Absolutely right!!
@@mattidohmeier5260 Yep, really, and Andrew is incapable of singing now.
as much as i like the few sisters albums there are they continued to make new music and he did WRITE MARIAN AND OTHERS BY SISTERS
stick to Wasteland guys ;-)
love the mission but that gig wasnt one of their best thats for sure awful sound
sheffield version is better ...
That bint is ridiculous.

Totaaaaaalmente de acuerdo
Es una gran cagada y además cantada y tocada sin ganas..da pena
It's by the Sisters not The Cult

I did not mean the band cult🙄😄
I love The Mission but this is horrible.
Not a good example of what they were once like, neither The Sisters or The Mission.
🙈🙉👎
Horribel
Das ist praktisch genauso schlecht wie die Sisters heutzutage.
It can't get more ridiculous. Hussey has no honour and no soul. Never had.
