I thought of another reason to use full coverage - particularly clear - tips: to get see-through or jelly designs. Sculpting a long, crystal clear nail with no air bubbles is really difficult. A tip is already perfect.
Maybe if I was a good sculptor I'd enjoy doing them that way. The truth is after years of trying to go that route I still sucked at it. I started using dual forms instead. Then the switch to gel happened, not too long after that Apres GelX came on the scene and that's all I use now. Nail art is my actual passion and these new applications give me more time for it.
Omg yes another tech who understands this!!!! ❤❤❤❤ my passion is the art and I just don’t have the patience or skill apparently lol (I’m also disabled and sadly this career has made my carpel tunnel flourish) and they’re just the best to get a good strong nail on that can safely come off after a few days or even a few weeks. Plus you can do a fill on them! Gelly tips are a god send 😂
My passion is the art as well! I'm also a perfectionist so sculpting and making it look how I want takes me too long, unless it's on myself in my free time lol
I'm right there with you, girlfriend!
Thank you that you admit that and don't do it because I had someone who had no idea how to sculpt! They looked like a Hershey Chocolate Kiss. I went somewhere else and had them soaked off. Great comment I hope others read into. If not good at it, don't sculpt.
@@LIZZIE-lizzie exactly! Not being able to sculpt well doesn’t mean you don’t know what you’re doing as a tech and doesn’t make you a bad tech! Honestly I don’t get why we as service providers aren’t up front. It’s not hard to say “I can’t do that exactly, but I can this and get it close to that” or something along those lines
I use full cover tips with acrygel on myself purely for convienuence sake as well as having super puffy sidewalls, and full cover tips get to the sides of my nails without touching my skin. Life changer
I love doing full cover tips. I find that they look a lot nicer on me then sculpted nails. Plus I love getting to spend the time doing the art then shaping them.
Newbie diy nail person here.
Imma be real, i got a lot to learn and its easier said than done when it comes to keeping things from lifting. But as a pianist and nursing student, i can only wear them on days i dont have class.
It takes me (a complete noob) two hours from start to finish and i dont need to shape them😂
And they come off easily :3
Sculpting would be fun. But for now, its def too time consuming for something imma only wear for a few days at a time.😊
I learned so much from this channel its pretty wild!
I was able to start sculpting from watching your videos. It's absolutely my preference, now. Working with my non dominant hand has taken practice, but I've improved so much already. I've done extensions with polygel and builder gel, and have yet to practice acrylic. I want to start practicing with your slow cure acrylic kit!
Love you Sussie ! I am a newbie nail technician from PH. And always love how detailed you share your knowledge to us !❤
Sculpting with the slow set monomer is brilliant because you get that extra little bit of time to make sure you are happy ❤❤
One day I'll be sculpting but right now, she's wearing full cover tips, PERIOD
Hey Susie! I absolutely love your videos. I just made a purchase of your naturally fake gel today and I'm so excited to use it. You guys are finally shipping to Ireland!! Keep up the amazing work and keep being your awesome self! Much love 😘🇮🇪
Sculpting is my favourite part honestly, I love the way I create something from scratch and when it's all filed and shaped it's a very good feeling. I just need more practice and speed! I use hard gel.
Thank you for sharing your wisdom with us.. I learn so much from you.. Thanks 😘😘
You just have to make sure that the person can sculpt nails. The first time, my nails looked a Hersheys' Chocolate Kiss - fat bottom and pointy tip. They were so bad I went somewhere else, had them soaked off and redone. The owner of the salon felt so bad for the bad job she actually charged less !
Thanks, Suzie always great information!
100%
I love to use sculpt, and Nails and speed is of the essence, or if somebody is using those nails for a special event. Do you think you could talk about ergonomics and correct body positioning for nail techs. I have not seen it addressed yet and feel that it is a really important issue that we talk about. Love your content!
Great info. Thx. Never knew about the pre-designed tip and that it can be temporary! Cool.
I’ve learned doing acrylic but with all these new nail products coming out the easiest to me is gel full cover tips! Simple fast way to do nails
I do my nails myself and I prefer them cuz they don’t take a lot of time compared to the sculpted ones ♥️
I use sculpted full cover tips. Best of both worlds and no monomer smell.
very Informative, TFS 🥰
Cool 😀
I love sculpt nails easy to change design and shape been doing them for years ❤
I do my own nails, and do not have the tools to do sculpted nails, full cover tips with any polis, let it be gel or regular, looks good on me for weeks. I love the kiara sky gelly tips for at home use.
I love youuuuuu❤. I can't wait the video of The week. Youre amazing. Tysm 4 all the info. Thank you from România!❤
I've been playing with your slow dry monomer! I'm a newbie and am really liking it.
It’s a fantastic product - however misunderstood by many
Hi there, can you perhaps do a video on how to adhere full cover tips with acrylic and say if its possible? Because I do it but have trouble with it lasting for more than 2 weeks. Thank you so much for your educational videos.
Wow brighten early in the morning would love to see you do full reign Stone cover nails🎉 which glue or polygel like Jenny should be used? Have a blessed remaining summer thank you for being a beautiful motivation.
As a small press on business owner this video makes me vveerryyyy very happy. And seeing you mention someone I admire (edit: Jenny. I love her work and the way she carries herself) and have seen in action recently is just the Cherry on top.
I've been wondering why everyone has been wearing these and saying they either get their nails done.or do them..I just don't think this is anything close to the work that goes into actually getting nails done..like again your work is phenomenal ❤
Can you leave a thin layer of product on nail under full tip to protect nail when buzzing off tip at removal?
Or will full tip not adhere to layer of product nicely luke it would to natural nail??
Thanka Susie, you are the best!!! 💗🤗Wish I could take a your class but I live in NY. Maybe a vitual clasa some day. 😉 So I will continue learning through your youtube channel! ❤
I do leave a thin, thin layer on my nails just to protect them. However, when you’re doing tips, you cannot have any extra bulk, especially near the side walls any of the cuticle. These are the thinnest areas and if you have bulk, the tip will not fit down properly
I tried to sculpt my own nails. After 2 years i was getting better but still not good. And my nails grow quickly so i had to do a nail fill in 3 weeks anyway. Not worth the effort. Full cover nails are perfectly shaped, nice and thin, smooth, and best of all are super quick. Its still going to grow out in 3 weeks but then i can soak them off very easily
Question: other than nail glue, are there better/ longer lasting ways to adhere full cover tips? (For DIY people anyway)
Is there any video to show how to remove Quick Tips? Or is it just the same removal technique of other products?
I've been a nail tech for 35 years, really like to sculpt, but have had equal success with tips staying on and lasting with either gel or acrylic overlay, so not sure I'd agree they're better.
Oh yes they certainly can stay on for just as long as sculpted just depends on the skills of the tech
I found sculpted came off so much easier but maybe it was the person doing them. The tips done by someone else lasted way longer
Can I use the tip for your gel starter kit?
I normally get sculpted and for the first time ever I tried someone who did tips.. the tips lasted a whole week longer than the sculpted 3 weeks vs 2 with sculpted. Also the filing with the electric file was less painful than a handheld file
Also the tips felt so much lighter.. sculpted always felt heavy on my nails and behind the nail was awful. It would be all thick and stuck to my natural nails
What's the best way to adhere a full cover tip (with/without art already done)? Can you use brush-on builder's gel? I always end up with bubbles and lifting when I use nail glue.
Builder gel will definitely work as long as ur tip is clear (it needs the light to cure)
What's the difference between a full cover tip and press ons
Well original press ons had no shape or structure at all. Some refer to these full cover tips as press ons - so they can be though of as the same
For me, I can do a full design and just adhere them. I can do sculpted nails on others and designs, but it’s harder to do them on myself. So I prep the nails and design them how I want and then use acrylic instead of gel and they last just as long as if I sculpted the nail myself🤭🤗
Is acrylic better than regular nail glue to adhere pre-designed tips?
I much prefer it
Not a fan of glues - too many air pockets which leads to problems
@@NailCareerEducation yes! And can extend the acrylic on out to strengthen the fake nail!🤗
I was watching someone on TikTok and they were telling a story and their client said "oh forms old school" I find sculpted nails much prettier than tips.
Isn’t that the truth
I really need help?!?! I've asked so many times but I keep getting the same answer "prep better".... So the issue I'm having is I have two people that I consistently do nails for and every single time within a week the nails fall off!! I do a VERY THOROUGH prep. Sanding, removing cuticles, dehydrate and prime, I'm very very thorough!!! When I first started doing nails three years ago i had the wanna issue while doing my nails so I tried MANY different primers and dehydrators. After alot of trial and error I stumbled on young nails primer and never turned back!! My nails and everyone else's I do last between 3-6 weeks, EXCEPT for the two I stated above! I've tried so many different techniques and products and nothing's working. Is there something I'm missing? I know they produce more oils on their nail plate and I probably need to try another primer but I don't know where to begin. What do i look for!? Any suggestions? Brand?! Or even techniques that maybe I can try or add to my existing process. Thanks in advance. I've been asking for so long and even when I do research I always get the basic answer "prep""change your prep""it's all in the prep". So for anyone who has any tips thank you very much!!!
I found rubber base gel to be a game changer for me. I use it with my protein bond when using gel or poly gel. Not sure if it can be used with acrylic tho. Maybe try an acid primer if using acrylic? If using gels, tho, try a rubber base over ur protein bond. Hope it helps!
@@crystalhardin6363 I've tried all three of those options because I do gel, acrylic, and full cover tips as well and still have the issue. I'm obsessed with young nails protein bond . I use it on every set I do. And I don't purchase cheap products bc I did notice that some not all cheap products did make a difference. Once I changed I noticed a huge change. But those two people no matter what it doesn't seem to work. That's why I was wondering maybe there's an extra step I could try or another really good brand. Idk. Lol. I do appreciate your suggestions tho. Thank you for your input
You need to look at what’s different between these two clients to the rest of your clients. Are their nails oilier? Drier? Are they older/younger? Until then, you can’t really assess what you need to ask for. Some people naturally can’t keep enhancements on their nails. I have oily, thin flexible nails (but dry hands. Ah the conspiracy) and you can prep them, prime them, dehydrate them to your heart’s desire and I will still have lifting in three days. I have mostly given up on enhancements because lifting makes me pick at them…and then I rip them off. 🤣
Have you tried wiping the nail with acetone before you start prepping?
Try this before you try anything else. Remember it may not be you. It may actually be the customer. And by that I mean they may have more oil than the average client. So by the time you do everything you’re supposed to do and a week or two later their nails have built up enough oil that they literally push the nail off of their finger. Meaning nothing to do with you and everything to do with your body chemistry . So if you wipe the nail with a little bit of acetone, you were actually removing 99.9% of all of their oils starting from scratch that might buy you another week or so.
@@NailCareerEducation no that I have not tried!!! I will definitely give it a try though I'm willing to try anything!! Thank you so much for the recommendation I'll definitely give that a try and see if that helps. I told them after the second or third set and the nails popping off that this was more than likely the case. I know sometimes there's just nothing you can do but I just feel so bad. Not only is it my name attached to the sets but I want all clients to be happy and feel like their best self when leaving. So I'm willing to try anything to help prolong the wear time. I don't know if you'll see it but I'll let you know once I do this if it helps or not and again thank you so much for replying.
I don’t see tabs as much anymore, most just use a rubber base…they will pop right off and can be saved and reused. I’ve also seen creators use rubber base for content and they take them off…they could go live everyday with a new set…u can use rubber base with acrylic too!
In a perfect world, i could pre-design my full coverage tips and then, apply with gel glue😭 no greenies here lol
You can use glue under a pre painted full cover tip. Never use gel to adhere a pre painted tip, aa the UV light can not cure thru the color or gems
Use a peel off base gel on the natural nails so that you don’t get nail damage from the glue and the nails can be reused
I just had my nails done a week ago and I had to explain the difference of a sculpted nail versus a tip because at first they didn't know what a sculptured nail was I think partially because nobody gets them done because they deter people from getting it done because they simply don't want to do it or they don't know how because it takes a lot of time and doing it it's easier to just slap on a tip and when I said that they agreed with me I think they're losing money because it cost more money to get a sculpture nail done versus a tip so they'd rather say no to the extra money rather than do it because the customer wants it.. it's so terrible when you want a certain service done because you're paying for it and they simply don't want to do it ... I used to be a nail technician myself so when I told them that they looked at me in a different kind of way
Holy run-on sentence. Punctuation is your friend.
For sure have to search out your salons/technicians!
@@LivyRivy I talk text and I don't use punctuation cuz this is not English class I'm sure you could still read it cuz it is in English🤣🤣🤣
@@angelap32You tell 'em girl! 😉
@@beverleyr2625 yesss!! I mean seriously they have a full nail salon they should know what a sculpture nail is you had to see the look on my face when they did not know what that was... the nail technician put three nail tips on with the pink gel overlay and gel nail polish over it I can't believe it was one week yesterday and you could see how much my nail grew.. which I'm not totally shocked because my nails grow very fast except for those three tips the rest of my nails are mine and they are long and it's so funny when he saw my nails naturally long he wanted to cut them it's kind of like when you go to the hairdresser and they see that you have long beautiful hair the first thing they do they get scissor happy and I told him I said no I don't want them cut lol
Full cover soft gel tips are the new way everyone’s doing nails 🤷♀️
Yup they are popular, and the main reason they are popular is cause they are very easy to do.
That’s there appeal
I've only felt confident enough to admit I've been at this for about a year now, so this isn't Gospel, but I personally like to builder gel my nails because they look more real than press-on tips. HOWEVER, this actually ex[plains something I've been dying to understand for a while, which is HOW drag queens keep ditching their nails so fast when out of costume. I mean, wait... we're talking about those awful sticky tabs? But then that means nails are popping off in my purse, pockets, etc? No, queens must need a better adhesive. I MUST know their secret! *How do Drag Queens do secure nails and then ditch them so FAST?*
A rubber base is what I'm thinking!
@@amberlynn8591 I tried 2 brands, one popped off too soon, and the other held on too long. What's a good brand of rubber base?
I just prefer full cover, honestly... 🤷🏾♀️
Full cover tips absolutely do not work for me. I've tried multiple types, multiple application methods and products....no dice. They pop off within a day.
Sculpted nails - zero issues and last and last for fills. I only soak off when my natural nail reaches the free edge bc that's my personal preference not to have that.
