The basis of any valid IQ test is abstract problem solving across a series of questions, because IQ itself is a metric for that exact ability, thus the metric for figuring out IQ isn't the knowing the rules of the game, but the ability to figure them out. Therfore, an IQ test should not require or presume any information, no matter how basic. A test like this could be used on math or sciencestudents, but the result would still be obscured to the extend that they do not know the material in question . Scientifically speaking, you would not be able to seperate their material knowledge from their ability to solve abstract problems, and the result therefor has little scietific validity as it relates to overall observations and individual results
Even if the gifted person has never been to school, can clear the mensa test. But yes some kind of basic education along with basic practice of such question is required to make him aware of such tests. Though formal education can not change the IQ level of a person, but it will surely help us to identify such people and also them to be identified by the others.

Please don't take this video seriously. It's really bad and is nowhere near the way mensa test questions work. But my grandfather was in the top 2% when it came to wealth and he self educate himself in order To accomplish those things. The one handed him anything and quite frankly as I mention in my post once again my grandfather didn't even know how to produce the word debris. He didn't realize by reading it that the S is silent. But he was a very intelligent man

I was ill a lot as a child and never caught up on maths . Lot of these tests involve a lot of maths and it makes my scores really low. Why don't they devise tests that include those who have had no schooling?

I love Mensa but, I am poor older student living in New York City and can not afford to join at this time. I have purchased your books since I was a young child. I am a student studying medicine in hopes to get into a Caribbean medical school. I am living by the true philosophy of Mensa. Most people my age are preparing to retire but not me. I am for Men sa Medicine (non gender specific of coarse).
I've already taking the test in real life if you will. I passed if you wanna call it passing. And got a beautiful certificate this in my drawer. I simply took it And Paid the money to take it just for my own reasoning. I still believe that if a person does have quite a bit of formal education VA can't pass the mensa

I got 80% (I had a différent logic to thé last one) But in truth thèse questions may not be appropriate for young children as they take a separate test to thé adult mensa, and wouldnt know algebra.

Are these supposed to be done without a piece of paper? If not, these are too simple, with the exception of maybe some wording issues. Not bad as a mental warm-up, but not Mensa.

These questions require formal education. Isn't it possible to exist a person who is highly gifted but who's never been to school?
Even if the gifted person has never been to school, can clear the mensa test. But yes some kind of basic education along with basic practice of such question is required to make him aware of such tests.
