    Q1. What did the Pilgrim do, although he had already crossed the chasm?
    A1. Though the pilgrim had already crossed the chasm he paused for a while, when he reached on the other side and built a bridge across the tide.
    Q2. What puzzled the fellow Pilgrim?
    A2. The fellow pilgrim could not understand why the old pilgrim was building a bridge over the deep and wide chasm after he had already crossed it. There was no need of doing so since the man was too old and would never pass that way again.
    Q3. What could be the third pilgrim?
    A3. The future generation could be the third pilgrim.
    Figures of speech used in the poem:
    1. Tautology - To a chasm, deep and vast and wide.
    explanation: Vast and wide are synonyms used in the same line for greater poetic effect.
    2. Personification - Came at evening, cold and gray.
    Explanation: Pilgrim who denotes a generation of the past which is abstract idea is personified by giving a human quality of coming.
    3. Interrogation - Why build ye here at even tide?
    Explanation: Rhetorical question is asked for dramatic effect.
