Didn't watch your video! But I say in general, if one wants to be honest, it could be important to give all information. What are the 14.000 sanctions? (it sounds like all products are sanctioned, until one explains) Let me give an example, one Russian person working close to (supporting) Putin is ONE sanction, 10.000 people sanctioned close to Putin, are 10.000 sanctions! The majority of sanctions are on individuals, not on items!

Brightly speaking, I think that the most of the Europeans are pretty happy that the sanctions don't actually affect ordinary Russian people.

      @PjotrII Před rokem +4

There are huge misunderstandings about the sanctions! Common people think ALL THINGS are sanctioned, but no, there are LISTS of sanctioned items and persons. Where do you see the sanctions directly? On availability of aviation parts, car parts (Russian cars now produced with less advanced tech!), industry.
Russian bloggers in general seem to focus on the prices of apples and locally produced items in a common store, which are NOT sanctioned.
What actually IS sanctioned are also some medicines, and their availability is down.
The 350 billion savings that Russia is now burning into the war, will be used one day, and THAT day, even ordinary Russians will feel the sanctions.

@@eustab.anas-mann9510 Yeah, in Russia's best case scenarios they make a spnehat good COPY, but in many cases the know how, technical development etc disappears. Example, "Russian" LADA car maker, who was technically behind all western cars, in 2008 Renault ASSISTED Lada and in 2013 bought it. It then further used it's know how to keep Lada alive. In 2022 Renault sold it's stake...Lada exists, but will in some 5-10 years again fall far behind and maybe disappear.

No they are not. That's lie. Sanction are given so that russian people can suffer. Sanction is worse than declaration of direct war

@@martijntijssen949 In a world with international trade, there is seldom a sanction that don´t affect others.
Sanctions are multipurpose things... first is that they are aimed to hit the villain, secondly they are put there to show that a villain has done some illegal thing.
Yes the energy thing absolutely hurts Europe with gas mostly but also oil prices. But there are also things in that which are beneficial for Europe.
Europe has for a long time urged it´s nations to build green energy. Some politicians, humans and the US have pointed out that Europe should not be energy dependent on Russia... even before this conflict.
One of the biggest arguments against building green energy, have been that it is yet expensive to build.
With the (at times) high energy prices, and the need for energy production in each country, some of those issues have been resolved.
Production of wind hit all times high in my country, and solar is built more now than in the past years, both private and commercial.
While there is way still to go to become energy independent, the move has started.
We do not know if Russia will be intact... depend what you mean... if Putin is pushed out of his position, Russia could be something totally different.
For Ukraine, I want to point out 2 possibilities. 1) There are 300 BILLION USD - Frozen in western banks of Russian assets. I would be surprised if that money would not be used to build up Ukraine.
      2) If not, I would expect a deal where Russia pays a fee for rebuilding Ukraine with oil and gas sales.
      3) I expect the west to help with rebuilding Ukraine.
Afghanistan was a totally different book. When you picture Afghanistan like leaving them for themselves, I want to point out that the US was in Afghanistan for 20 years. Besides fighting with US personnel... against Taliban... they also build infrastructure, hospitals and schools.
** The problem was, that the people did not want to change. Afghan troops fought the Taliban ONLY when US troops were with them.. they extremely rarely made own raids.
Corruption continued through all the 20 years, and before the fall... the warlords kept given military vehicles, ammo and stuff for THGEIR OWN TRIBE... and they seldom assisted the neighbouring tribe.
20 years, sacrificing western soldiers to help a country, 2313 billion USD spent (8 times of what now spent on Ukraine)... to call that "abandon and jump ship" is irresponsible.
If the Afghans would have had the will to fight, support would have continued... as they let Taliban take over in a few weeks, made western support end... 2313 billion was enough. The west would not support a radical religious group.

Sanctions take time to feel. Right now Russia is emptying it’s piggy bank.
What I have seen iphones are still for sale in Russia, but 30% more expensive compared to an iphone in Georgia.
As long as these luxury items are still for sale, things are somewhat okay for Russians. But hopefully I experience the moment Russian debit reaches 0.

@@veronicfeline3869 So why does phone sales overall drop in Russia, and iPhone´s are sold less, when they are cheaper?

    • @PjotrII
      @PjotrII Před 10 měsíci

@jeffp2935 You are correct! And a few things... sanctions made, are NOT on all products, as many propaganda channels want you to believe... they are put on specific items. As this headline also says "14.000 sanctions - do you feel them?" - which tries to trick you into thinking that "14.000 oh it must be nearly everything is sanctioned... and OH, the average Russian do not feel it.
Well let me open it up... around 9.000+ of those sanctions are sanctions on individuals, close to the dictator.
Then military groups are sanctioned, some electronic things that can be used to build GPS used in missiles etc are sanctioned... so now I ask again... why would the average Russian, not being among the 9.000 elite, and not buying a military grade GPS component feel the sanctions?
Now, the sanctions will still be felt, but it happens in a so call secondary wave. As Russian economy becomes weaker... as an example gas and oil sales have dropped dramatically, and even China and India trying to do their best to support Russia... the prices they pay, and the oil type = crude oil (is the one that gives the least profit to Russia). Russia would like to sell refined oil products that give more cash.
Gas lines built for decades to Europe, now works only to a few states on a low rate. Gas and oil through pipelines are a cheap way to export them. But Russia doesn´t have many pipelines to other countries, so the export goes by ship, and even on road. This makes the profit even smaller.
The war costs Russia guaranteed tens of billions of more in expenses every year.. some estimate up to above 100 billion / year.
Russia had around 300 billion of saved money from decades of oil and gas export in Russia. That money is now eaten up by the war, by lesser incomes, lesser taxes, and a weak Ruble. Russia raised the interest rate to 12%... and this makes it expensive for Russia... on savings of 100 billion (worth of USD) Russia pays 12 billion only in interest rates.
The price of iPhone is secondary slightly affected by sanctions, but much more by the weak Ruble. There is pressure that imported things in Russia will have a much higher inflation already now, and more in the coming months, if the Ruble stays low (95 Ruble = 1 USD).
I can´t say exactly when, but in 1 year or at maximum 2, I estimate that Russia has burned up the 300 billion USD it had. At that point, expect the Ruble to fall !!!
regardless what some try to say, I saw a price of a Russian iPhone, and it was more expensive than the ones we get in Finland, and here prices are among the highest in the world, with big taxes. Prices don´t go up in a second, there is always a delay, and experts say iPhone prices will raise 20% in a year in Russia. Add to that the fact that average Russian incomes are 745 USD/month.
