Great job, Logan! I had no idea how intricate the inner workings of a bike were; you made this repair job interesting to watch and listen to….

Wow. That hub mechanism is really interesting. It's like a spring loaded ratchet but not a conventional ratchet hub that you commonly see on the market. I hope we get a complete teardown video. Cool!!

Logan and the rest of Velo took care of me and helped me out by setting my wheels up on my bike. Tubeless and an extra set for gravel. Thank you and I will be see you soon! BTW, just subscribed!

I'm curious? Can you describe the sound before the fix? Pretty sure my shimano slx 7100 free hub is on the outs?

Shimano says not to grease the inner bearings. There is a design issue and 2 service bulletins from Shimano on regreasing the plastic spacer that goes over the freehub body. Then reapplying seal grease to the sealing gasket. These Shimano microspline freehubs, even when greased according to Shimanos instructions ultimately will fail. The plastic spacer fails, then the freehub gears crunch with the hub. It's only a matter of miles....Specialized switched from these Shimano to Shram in 2022 on their mountain bikes with the Shimano SLX microspline freehubs.

Shimano seem to be going down the pan. These hubs were rushed to market with a design flaw, the hollowtech crank failures were ignored for years, and I have a sheared XTR pedal axle that the importers in the UK (Madison) just fobbed me off with a customer service email. Wandering bite points on their brakes, the derailleur axle housing lets water etc in as it is not sealed properly and their clutch mechanism needs maintenance which will put off many punters (and needs special grease). The XT chainrings use a zillion bolts and the expensive chainlink is not reuseable!!. Just a few things that I can think of and all the high end MTB bikes are now being sold with SRAM drivetrains.
