- EDIT: I just read iFixit's teardown report and they say Apple did add silicone seals to the new iPhone SE. However, they did not add the adhesive that is present in the 6S. I would imagine this would be made more evident in a deeper water test where there is more water pressure.

Not the same thing. The iPhone SE has the iPhone 6s processor and co-processor and the iPhone 6s front facing camera, Live Photos and 4K video not available on the iPhone 5s. Hey Siri works without plugged in and in the 5s you need to plug it in order to use hey Siri.

The iPhone 5S had no chance once you put it in letting water into the lightning port, and then again pulling it out. You even lifted the 5S up after you put it in to let more water in!!!

Cool video, but you have made a small mistake you must fill the same amount of water in all 3 containers, having different amounts means different water pressures on all 3 devices, so you can't rely on those results. Sorry :/
You my not friend are dumb, if you look at the video the water is the same. Ya it might be an 8th of a cm difference, but when taking a test with such a small amount of water it makes ZERO difference!!! The pressure will only be about .0001 oz different. But with how smart you are with water pressure, I should probably just stay out of it.

Recommendation for next time: Water levels are different, different pressures on phones. Not like its that big a difference but it only takes you 5 more seconds to get equal water amounts :)

I saw the immersion in water is not the same! 5s was raised twice, SE carefully shipped and 6s thrown in the water.
Last year I mistakenly left my SE with the top bit submerged in water for about four hours. If malfunctioned at first but a few short periods in rice and it worked again despite having a stained screen. Investigation later proved the water indicator was still red two months later tho.
Do you think this corroborates your findings?
The water indicator won’t change back...it gets wet it stays red.

Thanks for the video, it answered a lot of questions we had! Just a couple more questions though: When putting them in the water, the first two phones were dropped on their backs but the last was picked up and tipped and you can see it expelled more air than the other phones. You'd mentioned having done another similar test, and I'm wondering if the results were the same? Just wondering if the way the phone is dropped makes a difference? If you drop it in a pool and it floats to the bottom on it's back vs. it's being dropped vertically, does it make any difference as to whether your phone will survive the water? Did you notice?
+Ryan Sewell Yah I have done other water tests on smartphone's you can check them out on my channel. I see what your saying about the way I put the 5s in but if you look you can see air bubbles come out from the iPhone SE too in the beginning. Interesting observation though!
one time i saw se run in water for a day in a freezer and get droped 100 feet in the are and was still runing after a charge

I did not expect the SE to be that water resistant. I was in love with my iPhone 5S and in June I'll be able to upgrade. Leaning toward the SE right now because I love the size. 3D touch isn't very interesting to me and neither is the front facing camera. They would be cool to have, but I like the size of the 5S/SE.

Shit bruh kinda sabotaged that 5s. Putting it in upside down letting the water in easier through the ports and pulling out the same way letting more water in. 🖕🏿

Thanks for the video. I just bought a new SE after replacing battery 3 times with 6s Plus and was wondering if it was waterproof/resistant. I learned to never let anyone but Apple replace batteries. Ibreakufix replaced battery on 6s Plus 3 times and still drains quick and now water leak on screen and Apple won’t touch it because someone else did repair , ugh 😑 I bought SE because I miss my old 5 and 5s. I prefer the smaller size since I’ll use my iPad for other stuff or MacBook Pro. Contemplated waiting for SE2 but they didn’t release it last year and if they do release it this year, they’ll probably increase price quite a bit, no doubt.

Actually it is a great test but Its different when you put iphone into a small contanier with water.I think when you put the iphone into a swimming pool it will not work.
