As the developer of Clean Flash Player, I'm really honored for Clean Flash to appear in such an amazing video :) Thank you so much for bringing more attention to the project! I'm glad it helped you out with the screensaver! Daniel
It sure attracted my attention. Such a project was simply so necessary, hope I'll recall that name when I need to get something Flash working in the future... And if I forget it (I'm not exactly a bright mind, sorry), I'll have this MJD video to remind me.
@@BilisNegra maybe bookmark this video or save it in its own playlist?
wow I know the album from your pfp, that one from t+pazolite where cheatreal is, great song
I have one question. Are you able to port the X64 flash plugins that only seemed to be used in the browsers to just a regular flash projector (in 64 bit only of course), because through my testing before flash was killed off, the browser plugin version (x64 version) was always faster than the 32bit standalone projector version (It's always slow when you move your mouse in the projector, and I have a good computer. It's just flash being unoptimized). The projector is just the flash player standalone file that opens a window where you can drag and drop a .swf file in (In Windows at least), or set .swf files to open through that .exe, and it will open .swf files normally! No installation needed!
Thank you for making a non-evil version of flash player
I have gotten so much slack for the Apply > OK, that I do it on purpose now.

Imagine having, in the future, a windows 60th anniversary box and thinking about the times when the 20th one was old...
Imagine getting a Windows 8 60th anniversary box
it's pretty unlikely that Microsoft is ever gonna do something fun like this ever again, especially in the US.
I mean, in 2025 maybe we get the 40th anniversary Windows edition
@Yoshi Yoshi
@@dubbynelson im in europe but ye
I can't wait for the 20th Anniversary Edition of MJD

Hey it's the guy that sounds like 20 different people apparently.
AT the same time.
OH NO DOn't tell me this had became A F***IN' MEME apparently LOL
idk, he sounds more like mjdextras than Michael MJD.
@@Windows_98 Had forgotten that second channel! To the extent that I'm even subscribed, and had forgotten that, too. Looks completely dead, and only has a few videos, but I also see there was an almost 2 year hiatus in the past, so he might get something in there at some point. It will be nice, but if anybody is banging their heads to the wall because unaware of that channel, you were not missing on that much, really, but well, you can always take a look.
What a suprise! He sounds like Michael MJD
Don't you just love it when you try to run a piece of software, but it has some dependency, so you try to install the dependency but that has its own dependency
yep
and the dependency have a dependency
Welcome to the world of Linux packages, how can I help you
@Marci Schneider Linux 2021... :P
It just does it all for you aptomatically nowadays ;)
I hate mjd
7:20 the way you explain ok and apply buttons made me laugh so haaard 🤣🤣 im surprised some people dont know about that!
I knew it, but it's slightly bad UX... maybe OK should be 'Apply & Close'
@@MeTheCoolDude but it’s the way it is 🤷🏼♂️ maybe they tried to keep the buttons the same size and it became traditional.. Apply & Close would be a huge button besides cancel and apply
@@0w3nn I understand that everyone has opinions but you’re dragging this too far.. it’s been 30+ years of windows os and there’s nothing not to be got used to..
Omg, I was thinking "who the Frigg doesn't know that?"... I mean, have these people never tested it to see that it behaves like it does?
@@gionder some act like they’ve seen the windows for the first time..
13:51 I would argue that it probably doesn’t help much with screen burn in, since the background is static. But I guess it would be better than having your windows desktop burned in
9:43 So it's an English copy of Windows XP, having a Japanese only 20th anniversary add-on installed, while the Control Panel is in French.
*M R . W O R L D W I D E*
I'M SO GLAD you mention the Apply/OK thing. I've had to contend with people who insist I'm wrong about the Apply/OK behavior and it's slightly frustrating every time someone mentions it.
“2000 came before ME, except after XP”
Time to start teaching this in school
2000 came out before XP
Two videos in 24 hours? What a treat!
Did anybody else, when they first heard of this product, think it was commemorating the 20th anniversary of Windows XP itself?
I did
That was very fun and comfy video to watch. I'd love if that Japanese website browsing and translating was longer
Thanks for the feedback! I appreciate it!
if you don't know, BetaCollectr actually made a comment in the CD-ROM Video reupload that says where the giant warped monitor came from. It was a prototype, basically, but it is really interesting. Also, amazing video!
Also, I feel cool that I already knew about the "Apply vs. OK" thing
I got nostalgia when I saw the Nick Arcade application
Well, that "theme" was quite underwhelming to be honest... it's more of a lame icon pack than a theme. I was expecting something like Royale or Zune, those were cool!
I'm surprised at how amateuristic the entire Windows theme is. Like it doesn't feel official at all, and even uses Flash player for its screensaver. And then there's the jarring MIDI-sounding startup sound. You'd think Microsoft would never OK it like this but I guess times were a little different.
@@DaVince21 it was Microsoft Japan, not Redmond, after all. Local, small release, for free.
Yeah. Many CDs died by burning for this lol.
This 20th anniversary CD was amazing. I never knew that such a CD existed before. Thanks for making the video on this CD.
Michael: *drops video on my birthday (September 2nd)*
Me: “Oh yay new MJD! Gotta see what this is…”

When I was watching this I just realised that Half Life 2 was meant to be run on Windows XP.
Thank you so much to telling me about clean flash existing! Installed it now on my XP and 7 OSes machine along with basilisk for a flash browser (only is 64bit so win7) and now everything active x just work in every browser + flash games under basilisk... nice... very useful for childhood xp era pc and web stuff & old websites.
Windows Vista hype! I'm gonna be the first one to install this legendary new version of Windows, it's going to revolutionize everything we know about Windows and OS's for the better.
Change is coming and it's on a Vista!
5:21 im suprised they had those at the time, but did you know there also were 1080p crt monitors? and of the 16:9 kind like most screens today. there were also (and these are very rare) touch screen crts for computers.
Thanks for mentionning the whole "Apply" "OK" thing. Most people I work with seem to think that it,s necessary to click Apply everytime.
14:44 i swear to god that's made with the same exact generic MIDI sounds windows xp comes with
Having listened to a lot of MIDIs while playing Doom and especially its mods I can confirm. It’s indeed Microsoft’s default MIDI track/GS Wavetable Synth/Roland SC-55
Pretty much. Starting in Windows 98, yeah. Or to be more specific, the sounds are from the Roland SC-55 module which is where the default MIDI wavetables come from.

12:23 - "A long time ago
In a galaxy far, far away"
That really wide monitor reminds me of the one Linus reviewed of LTT.
Me too
Thiccc wide one?
Oh wow I wouldn't expect you to have Spongebob Krabby Quest and Wonderland Secret Worlds installed! I thought earlier it was cool how you played Marble Blast that one time and now I see you have 2 more obscure games I've played before lol
Nice vid MJD I love this videos it make me calm!
@@Yvng_remixer uh man I like his vids
Hah, that tablet displayed in the video is one of HP's Tablets, I'm sure you've covered it before actually!
In their docks they became awesome little XP machines for the period, I used to own one a few years back!
A pleasant surprise to see that theme just a few hours before my birthday :)
Happy early birthday :)
Happy birthday!
I came into this video thinking this was a 20th anniversary CD for Windows XP itself (2001 - 2021), then half way through the video I realized this is a 20th anniversary for Windows itself. I feel dumb and disappointed. Japan always gets the cool and unnecessary anniversary releases for weird stuff.
I've been waiting for this!
Cool, also congrats on getting this Ultra Rare Windows XP pack
I'm always excited when MJD but also LGR posts a new vid. You guys should do a collab some time! 😉
A minute of silence for those people who thought Michael actually knew Japanese.
7:00 THANK YOU! This has been a massive pet peeve of mine for ages.
Thanks for another great video, sam!
7:17 Omg thank you! I thought I was the only one who knew that! It’s so obvious, because when you click apply, the window stays open. What’s the point of the cancel button if “OK” just closes the window without saving changes? I completely forgot about that until this, but I’m glad you brought it up
Love Ur Vids, MJD!
finally the actual cd content

That's nice you found the cd
So you have the old Steam (look at the icon!), as well as the games from it, classic Nick games and others...mjd really giving the 2005 vibes.
thanks for achieving it!
BTW, Server codename Longhorn build 5270 is a Beta 2 build of Windows Server 2008, I hope MIchael can make a history of Windows Server 2008(Beginning from Windows Server 2008 build 4028)
I remember playing krabby quest on windows 7 actually btw best game
Still waiting to see that set of mock up discs completed with XP and Vista...
A Rare Oddity for every Windows XP Fan.
I wonder how it will perform on windows 10 since it's 20th anivessary but it's stil pretty cool
I couldn't help laughing when you had to explain what the "OK" and "Apply" buttons do
Wow! What a suprise! He sounds like Michael MJD
"That's a terrible rhyme, I'm sorry" dude that made me laugh
i loved the " you sound like.." video!!
Windows XP and 95/98 are my favorite nostalgic Windows releases.
watching your videos like riding a time machine👍
Oh wow, I haven't seen that MFC icon in years! Ah memories...
@10:55 - The "????? ????..." error message: 😅 How much difficulty would it be to start putting that on some of your merch, MJD? Genuinely, I'm down.
The question is: why they are releasing such a thing only in the japanese market? i'm sure it would perform better if they did it globally
Cuz there are lots of people like MJD
My best guess is that Japan has a culture that really really responds to limited edition / special edition type promotions. Not every country responds as strongly as they do.
@@eirinym That's definitely the case but I didn't expect it to also extend to operative systems tbh
This is awesome ❤️❤️
Jesus Christ dude, I can't believe you actually had to explain how "OK" and "Apply" work. A lot of geniuses running around out here.
great video Michael :) you should really try the vista beta lamfo
Did you check the Appearance tab? I can't remember what the setting is called, but the place where you choose between the blue theme, silver, olive, etc. I think the Windows MCE theme was added there, so I would've thought there might be something there.
Can’t wait!
Never been so fast on an MJD video
Gotta love how the Windows XP Startup sound changed into MIDI
I see you have my Steam for XP file on the desktop, nice
Only 9 years and mjd channel is gonna be 20 years!

nice video dude keep it up its just epic btw you sound like microsoft sam
13:36 Oooo, windows vista guys, its gonna be so amazing
Michael MJD this is a cool video
LOL you uploaded this video just on my birthday
LoL the sound effect for start up is a Midi converted to a.wav file, it uses the default horrible Microsoft Midi MS GS synthesizer, interesting indeed.
Pretty sure some Japanese applications might crash if they aren't being run with Japanese locales in XP. I think the message was just to shield the app from any blame
Yep, Japanese software is really commonly region/locale locked.
Not to mention they don’t want any support calls for other regions asking why the text won’t show up properly.
For a second, with that intro, I thought I was watching Marcel Vos with one of his Rollercoaster Tycoon videos. 😄
"2000 came before ME, then Windows XP, then came along Mr. MJD."
I've always known that "OK" does the same thing as "Apply" but also closes the dialog. I guess people nowadays are more competent at using phones and not computers, which is sad.
The Apply button must *always* be clicked before clicking OK. It's not about the fact that they do the same function, but it's the same as saving a game twice - you just do it to be extra, extra sure.
@@0w3nn 😒 I somehow get the feeling that the satire went over your head
Hmm I think you’re missing a few dozen re-saves of the game there…. :)
7:00 You literally read my mind, I was going to comment that
and yet Microsoft can't make an official Win Xp theme for Win10
I haven't seen ANY theming within Win10, you get what they do, a bit of color can be tweaked is all that I've seen :(
12:20 thought with that scrolling text it would play star wars theme
This is Epic.
Very cool!
i love the valve games at the background
Can you do an entire video on safe mode? The history of, what it does, all that.
Nice video never been this early on a mid video ever!!!
i love the taxes folder
10:36 congratulations on having enough patience
8:27 only a sith deals in absolutes
Yeah I knew about the ok and apply thing, idk how other people haven't figured that out. I guess because some 3rd party programs don't actually apply after pressing okay, I've seen it
