I'm having the pleasure of discovering Morgan James for the very first time on February 8, 2024. This is about the fourth song I've listened to, and I'm ready to her more.
Her voice control is INCREDIBLE!
Morgan is BAAAAD! And then her background singers - making their "yeah", "oooo" and effortless... love this!!!
Those background singers are outstanding!
She has a much better voice than just about all mainstream artists. Been listening to this song for about 7 years now. I'm still amazed at her vocal range. And she's beautiful. Win win

she is amazing , breathtaking even in that song , but i hear some of her solo work and it is not as impressive . Maybe she works better in a group

I do not know if hers is the cover I've been searching for. I had begun to believe that I had imagined hearing a beautiful female voice doing Dream On. I only heard it once and then only part of it. I am about to find out if my search is over. Thanks for your comment it may be what leads to the fruition of the search.
As English is my second language, I greatly appreciate PMJ's and Ms James' service in making intelligible the words of some of my favourite childhood songs.

I would venture to guess there are millions of people with English as their first language that wouldn't have 'intelligible' as a word in their vocabulary.
I completely agree. English is my first language, and I still don't understand many of the words in the songs I listen to. It is amazing how she enunciates each word so clearly. When you combine that with an amazing voice, you have an artist that I thoroughly enjoy listening to. Of course the icing on the cake is that watching her in videos isn't so bad either! ;)

You got to hit "that song", plus, many make it on the couch. If you don't take the producers to the couch, they don't help you. If you have talent out the gazoo, and a song that it just awesome, they don't dare not work for the singer, or else lose out.
I asked myself the same thing, she's phenomenal. There's something desperately wrong with the media / music industry. It's seems to be a closed club full on mediocre and oversensationized people.
This is a pretty great cover, but Peter Gabriel is still superior.

So, here's what really happened.
In the late 1970s, Peter Gabriel had embarked on an ayahuasca journey. During his travels, a portal became available to him, and being the intrepid fellow he is - he stuck his head through it to see what was going on.
Lo, and behold - he had a glimpse into the future, and there was Morgan James singing, "Sledgehammer."
Peter was immediately taken in by the song as well as the sublime performance by Ms. James, and thought, "that's fantastic! I've got to write that down."
He headed back through the portal, completed his journey, and created the Peter Gabriel Version of the Morgan James Version of the Peter Gabriel Version of...
Well, you know how it worked out.

In my teen years one of the things we did was trying to figure out ourselves the lyrics of new songs. It was quite the effort. Morgan James should have been our English teacher.
