I got my eresus walckenaeri from US Invertebrates LLC too! And their flake soil and decayed wood. My velvet was TINY when I got her and within a couple months, it's the size of yours when you unboxed. Once winter is over, I plan to get a couple of each kind of velvet and more millipedes. I currently only have some african giants

So we have a native jumping spiders, I was collecting food for my Isopods and found a little black jumper. I put him in a container and fed him fruit flys and the released him in my house in my plants. Haha he keeps my plants safe from others that are snacking on them. Spiders freak me out and at the same time, they don't.
Beast Pets & Supplies (& US Invertebrate) is the best pet store in all of San Diego County. The invertebrates offerings are like no other & the reptiles, amphibians, and fish are awesome as well. Those substrates are pure gold.
I hope to visit the store in person someday!

I see small ants climbing on my Isopod tubs. If they get into my tubs, are they dangerous to my isopods? How can I keep them away, other than use ant poisons?
They can cause problems for isopods in some cases. It depends on the species of any, and whether or not they decide to move a colony into the tubs. If you set your tubs in a tray with food-grade diatomaceous earth in it , that can be one way to dissuade the ants. Another could be to use fluon or other product made for keeping ants from climbing.

Nice to see you had a good experience with them, I was treated pretty poorly by them when I tried opening a conversation about finding them a better wholesaler for their orchids so they don't have to charge 75 bucks each lol. They first attacked my way of selling, blocked me, and then continue to slander me in comments on their Instagram. I reached out to close friends in the invert hobby and they've had similar issues. So I guess stay on their good side lol

Not to sound like a downer, unless the Lacey Act passes owning these might be considered illegal. I don't own any of these but I hate to see anyone's hobby destroyed because of liberal politicians.
