      may I ask on the mixing levels inside your DAW? Do you leave all the faders at 0.00 dB and when changing the dynamics of each instrument from inside the BBC plug in?

    • @rowanalfred9346
      @rowanalfred9346 Před 2 lety +1

      @@geompon6505 no, I don't tend to. I tend to ride all faders manually, either at input or after the fact. I read somewhere a few years ago that you should never aim to find balance in mixes. Balance is boring. Instead look for points of interest.
      I often find samples, as good as they are, need considerably more fine tuning as far as dynamics are concerned. They don't "breathe" in the same way as acoustic instruments.
      Not sure if this answer will help in any way, shape, or form.

    • @charliemcgrain
      @charliemcgrain Před rokem +1

      @@geompon6505 It is well worth downloading the templates from spitfire. They have all of the articulations on seperate tracks, etc. They also have all faders set to zero, and then of course you ride your expression(volume) controler (or wwithin the DAW) separately to achieve your desired volume for that instrument. I got core with the core template and it is amazing to work with.

    I recently purchased this library and love the sound and functionality. It's a perfect partner for more Romantic, Drama and Documentary type scores. It's also a welcomed change from the more ambient sound we get from many SF libraries. I hope to be able to upgrade one day. Thanks Spitfire, and to the excellent musicians and their efforts.

  • @Monomorphismus
    @Monomorphismus Před 4 lety +30

    For everyone who is considering buying the Core version:
    I have bought the Core version. I don't know if it is a bug, but there is no techniqe editor in the application even though it should be there (the manual says so).
    That means with every instrument EVERY technique is always loaded! For example violins 1 are loading 20 different techniques (about 826 MB) even if I don't need them all in every piece of music. So loading the whole string section uses about 4 GB of ram which is very annoying and definitly unnecessary.
    With only 16 BG of ram this library is very useless.

    • @magnieye3547

    • @arvo1980
      @arvo1980 Před 4 lety +5

      I also thought this was quite a setback. Heavy on the RAM when making a full orchestral template. But hopefully they will fix this. The whole point of the core edition should be that it can run on systems who aren't maxed out on RAM.

    • @Monomorphismus
      @Monomorphismus Před 4 lety +4

      @@arvo1980 The annyoing thing is that the manual says you can on page 16. But this functionality isn't available! In the professional version it's apparently possible.

    • @Monomorphismus
      @Monomorphismus Před 4 lety +5

      @Julian Packard Music I know that. But that's not the idea of a middle class library. It's meant for the hobby or semi-professional user. Take Hollywood Orchestra for example. With this library you can load every articualtion of every instrument seperatly without using a lot of ram for nothing. Also the Native Instruments Symphony Series let you do this. Even more that's possible in the professional version of BBC SO. So I just don't understand, why this functionality isn't part of Core. I hope it's just a bug.

    Theres very little about what hardware you need for this. At £190 in the sale it seemed to good to miss even though I was way under specced. Well I modified the template for discovery adding the core solo instruments and a few other bits. Logic is taking 7GB and my 1.1Ghz MacBook 12 in (2016) has only 8Gb. The samples are on an external SSD run from a hub that is also driving a monitor. Buffer at 1024. It all works fine. So far. So buy it!

    I bought the core edition and love it, but...........
    Do you think there will ever be an option add either the close mics or “mix 2” hyped mix?
    I will never be able to justify the cost of an upgrade to the professional version personally, but I would pay a lesser cost just to add extra mic/mix options. Not all the mic options as I realise the size of what that would add, even just Jakes Mix 2.
    I think it would help make the core version more versatile and useable in more circumstances. The mix 1 sound is a bit underwhelming for some of the instruments when trying to go for something more intense/aggressive.
    Thanks 😊👍

    OK, everything is fine but one issue...
    I work with Cubase which means I can load one instance of the sampler and just add MIDI tracks to control different MIDI channels.
    I see I can change MIDI channels in the app but I can't really use different channels for different instruments.
    The result is that I have to load multiple instances of the app into my DAW to properly use it.
    My PC is more than capable of handling this but it does seem like an overkill a bit.
    I kind of wish now that it would be available in Kontakt...

Just load as many instances as you want, doesnt require that much of your cpu, its the RAM of all the different instruments and articulations combined that is displayed in the cpu and ram meters of the plugin (every instance of the plugin will show you the same numbers)
