  • Reports say India and the U.S. are auditing the Kolkata port for a possible Master Ship Repair Agreement- to enable the U.S. Navy to repair ships in Kolkata. But why Kolkata, when Visakhapatnam and Chennai are much closer to the Indian Ocean? Does this agreement go beyond logistics and repair? In the last 12 months, the U.S. has struck agreements with multiple Indian ports. Do the developments point to a possible preparation for war at sea?

      Not really. It's the other way around actually. India knows they need America close. Because if China decides to destroy India, India cannot count on Russia. India glorifies Russia blindly. But Russia will not break ties with China for India. The bottom line is, only America has what it takes to stop Pakistan and China from destroying India. India has no choice but to accommodate America for India's sake. Think like a Chess board rather than talk like a checkers game. Pay attention.

    This is good business for India...this will also ensure that the infrastructure outside the port in the city improves, will improve employment prospects. There is a small military futuristic benefit too...China in Bangladesh is a threat for India, US in Bengal kind of nullifies the threat. Hopefully a means to offload some of the US outdated military equipment, that would still be valuable to India

    While 94% of the world ship building is dominated by the East Asian Countries, India currently has not got into the top 10, ranking lower than Phillipines and Vietnam in shipbuilding. However, India is ranked very high in breaking up the ships. US ships will have a very efficient metal recycle process should it needs repair.

  • @yx-l2853
    @yx-l2853 Před 25 dny

    I cant help but to bring up a few notes on this coverage.
    Firstly, why spend on much valuable resource on "war preparations" instead of pouring the same resources on improving the wellbeing of millions of India? How imminent is hot war, anyway? Self-fulfilling prophecy is dangerous in this context. Who would gain from both war and its preparations is another question worth asking.
    Secondly, it may be worthwhile to examine which tree to lean on. IMHO, Bharat is a BIG country and so there is absolutely no need to lean on a supposedly "bigger tree".
    Thirdly, even if the above is deemed necessary, leaning on a seemingly falling tree is one concern.
    Another is even more profound: distinction between imperialism and border dispute. In a border dispute, there is at least a mutual recognition of respective territories. As such, it can be resolved peacefully. Imperialism is, on the other hand, never ever about a territorial dispute. History is our great guru; which country is the imperialist is so clear. Protection from an imperialist power sounds very strange, to say the least.
    Yet another concern is to ask the motive behind the support from the other side of the world, which are driven by short-term self-interests rather than by a noble purpose to help India for the next 10, 20, 30 years. As the interests shift, so will the support. Anyway, the most important person at any one point is the person closest to us physically, not someone far from us. When we are facing emergency, we seek help from those nearest to us.
    Finally, my best wishes to all people of Bharat. May you all be more and more prosperous in a strong and peaceful country, just like she has been for thousands of years!
