We all love Spencer Reid but why is no one talking about Matthew Gray Gubler and his outstanding performance this man is so versatile and talented and he plays the role so naturally and the fact that the character is very different from Gub’s personality is just a testament of his talent
and the episodes he directed. i loved mosley lane but it makes me ugly cry with that ending so i rarely rewatch

My favorite Reid moment is when he went to talk to the father of the female unsub that was turning her victims into dolls, and he figured out that she is the way she is because the man molested her then put her through electroshock therapy to make her forget. He said something like: "this is why I love my job, doctor. My lab is a jury of your peers and my test will be your patients, little girls, and see how they react to the toys you gave them when the DA puts them on the stand." It was a truly awesome moment because my boy was pissed.

I love that scene because Rossi is playing the bad cop, pressuring the father, then Reid turns out to be the real threat and the one that the father should have been worrying about the entire time.
I'm sorry but "This is calm and it's doctor" will forever be the single most badass line in the show. He really is the best character.

it just makes him more brilliant since the more you know about something, the more you realize how much you have yet to learn. a true genius doesn't think they know everything, a true genius realizes how little they truly know. Reid touched on that in the first episode.

So basically this vid could be all his moments.
Spencer was my favorite. Three scenes that stand out for me are: 1. When his godson dresses as him for Halloween. 2. When JJ and him are kidnapped and she expresses her love for him. 3. When he has to go on a "date" with his nemesis and after it he is mortified and destroyed. The team then explains how they kept him in the dark to get the family of his NOT girlfriend in the last season.

Regardless of whether or not he was right, that scene was very well acted.
Well, in personal matters - he was very much right. In professional - not so much but at least partially he still was.
For me it's all about baby girl and her incredibly unrealistic hacking skills.
That one scene where they were talking about some ways a child can defeat their father and Reid just said, "I just keep getting PhDs" 😭 also when he found out Rossi was afraid of turbulence and Reid kept on teasing him. 😭
And the teasing wasn’t really on purpose
You forgot the moment where Reid helped the women give birth! That was one of my favorite Reid seen! But, Reid has always been my favorite CM character! 😄

The biggest disappointment in Reid's overall storyline was that the show never revisited Nathan Harris, the teenager who was committed in season 2. Or Adam/Amanda in season 4.

Anton Yelchin (Nathan) died. Jackson Rathbone (Adam/Amanda) is still alive. They both gave amazing performances. Rathbone was open for a comeback from Amanda but it never happened. R.I.P. Anton 😢
i wish they revisited the story in blood relations. that was one of the scarier episodes and it ended on a cliffhanger and i would love another episode on that.
I really would’ve liked to see what happened to Adam/Amanda especially because of how drawn Reid felt to him because he wanted to do right by Tobias Hankle
"I don't know. Maybe." I *love* that moment! How he spends like 13 minutes (because that's how long the Guard's break apparently had left when that started) giving this guy this big explanation of why he is the way he is, letting him know he was basically doomed to become a killer, only to casually tell him he might've been bullshitting him. It leaves him wondering and is just so iconic! Haha
One of my absolute favorite Reid moments was in the Season 10 episode "If The Shoe Fits". When the young woman kept killing her potential suitors cuz they ruined her fairy tale fantasy. When Reid approached her with the shoe and acted like he was the prince looking for Cinderella, my heart just melted. He definitely had a way of understanding & connecting with the unsubs.

He just like the Flash from Justice League cartoon. When he meet with the Trickster at the bar, he just came calm at him and make sure Batman didnt do more "damage", asking where the villain are and ask if the Trickster still take his meds. When they about to leave, he just tell him "when you done drinking, surrender yourself"
Every girl wanted to be the unsub in that moment.

Him and Penelope are the heart of the team tbh. Her brightness along with his innocence despite their gloomy job always lights up every situation they are in and I think that is a really important balance in a show like this

While this whole team had their share of stalkers and serial killers, i believe Reid got dumped on the most. Whatever could go wrong did with him. He was the one that got shot at, kidnapped, lost almost every love interest (not hit girl), and just again, dumped on.
I hated they hinted a relationship between him and jj when she was still married to her husband. Why, just why, but I am glad their friendship wasn’t ruined.
The CM writers at some point: This arc is unresolved. How do we fix it?

I hated the Reid and JJ storyline. It was so weird and unnecessary. They are better off as friends. The fact that JJ admits to loving Reid as more than just a friend while married to Will is not right. It was one thing if Reid had a bit of a crush on her in the first season because she called him spence, but when she admitted to loving him when they were held hostage! Not the way to go writers! 🙄😖😠

That ep was ALL about Reid! The closeness then abandonment of Gideon, his anger over a mental health professional abusing his patient/daughter, then ending with a quote from Asimov, Reid’s dad’s favorite author.

Lightheartedness aside, he is such a complex relatable character. Brilliant, awkward around people, empathetic, insecure about his appearance/personality when he has a crush, etc. He is a genuinely likeable character i feel just draws people in. One of my personal favorite moments is from season 10 where he estimates the number of boats on a lake, and Kate calls him out for it only for Rossi to say his guess is right. The whole scene is just a joy to watch
It's sweet of him to pretend like he doesn't know he's absolutely hot! But he's just a big walking squishy marshmallow of love! ☺️😍
Love how everyone in the BAU underestimates Spencer in more physical and life or death situations and he proves to them that mind matters over physical strength every time!! 🙌

I love how Garcia calls him "Boy Wonder."
Reid and Garcia running track and push ups with Morgan is hilarious. The relationship with his mother was stupendously written. The scenes when he got kidnapped by the nut job and got his feet whacked all though it was a serious episode he killed that role. Reid in prison broke my heart. Adam and Amanda with Jackson Rathbone was a phenomenal episode.
Reid was always my fave solo character on this show. Morgan & Garcia were my fave non-couple “couple” on the show. I wish Netflix would add the remaining seasons of the show to their platform!

I’ll be honest, Reid being passive aggressive is a lot scarier than Reid with a gun! The scariest ones are always the quiet ones who rarely get angry! 😳

I liked the scene with Jennifer Love Hewitt about how boats on a lake. Hoatch asks Reid how many on the lake she calls him on it Rosy looks it up and Reids right and he goes "I accept your apology." It's really funny.

Matthew Gray Gubler wrapped the role of Dr. Spencer Reid in humanity. Too many wonderful scenes for me. The fact that he is a certified minister is impressive and not surprising. Continued success.

Spencer definitely has the best character growth out of all the main characters on Criminal Minds.
Can you do lists for Emily Prentiss (the best female main character and the team linguist), David Rossi (the Vietnam veteran and former marine who help found the BAU), Derek Morgan (the team muscle and former Chicago police officer who overcame the trauma of child molestation), and especially Aaron Hotchner (my favorite character; the stoic perpetual frowner and former prosecutor whose also a dorky dad when off-duty)?
What about JJ or Garcia

Elephant’s Memory is the only episode where someone really tried to save the unsub simply for being a fellow human, and not because «it’s the right thing to do, to try to save everyone». It’s also the first of only 2 times that Reid attempted to talk down an unsub without any «mind games» (just speaking right from his heart) and it’s the only time he did it successfully. It’s one of the absolute best Reid moments of the show!
Science magic! The prank war with Derek! His reaction to JJ telling him he loves her! His arc in prison while being framed by Kat! His love for his mom! So many great Reid moments.

Unexpected but I’m living for this
My favorite Reid moment is the scene in season 5’s Uncanny Valley, where he confronts Dr. Malcolm about the toys in his office. Pure gold!
Reid is one of the only characters on that show (and most of the time the only one) that can calmly talk to the unsub. Even in a terrible situation (like getting kidnapped) he always can very calmly talk to and try to relate and understand the unsub.
Probably because he believes he could have been and unsub himself if things went a little different.

This is great! My #1 pick was the same, when he reveals his contempt for the killer in prison.
My other would be his scene with badass actor Michael Ironside acting as a mentor (I didn't watch the show consistently so I don't know if they worked together more) - It's after he's been involuntarily hooked on drugs, and he's doing 12-step meetings but his confidence has been crushed, and the other guy, who's apparently very powerful and well-respected, gives him his own coin from being clean/sober for a year.
Spencer: I haven't earned it yet.

Just the realization that a stranger can see the strength in you, and believe in you that much, makes the scene so great.
...Also the derpy way he holsters his gun, at least in the earlier seasons.
Personally, I love that even in season 15 he continues to holster his gun in such a ridiculous spot and still has his dorky run when he’s running with his gun. he can grow but keep him dorky and quirky

Another episode I really liked was a season 6 episode "The Uncanny valley". When Reid stood up to another doctor, really made him seem badass. My favorite line from was it was when Reid said "You see this is why I love my job Doctor because my lab its a jury of your peers, the DA will put them on the stand and imma personally bring these dolls in and watch how they react"

JJ, Prentiss, Elle, Hotch, Gideon, Ross, (and of course I adore Morgan and Garcia) are among my favorite characters, but Spencer is totally my number one favorite! The episode where Reid finally admitted that he had always loved J.J almost made me quit watching Criminal Minds. I loved both characters but I felt like it was unnecessary for Reid to do that.
