- San Luis Potosí Vlog
This week we're taking you to San Luis Potosí, one of Mexico's most beautiful (and in our opinion wildly underrated) cities. Located in central Mexico, almost right in the middle of Guadalajara, Mexico City and Monterrey, this gem of a city blew us away; from it's charming and walkable Centro, immaculate green spaces and interesting and immersive museums, we can't believe more people don't know about all that San Luis Potosí has to offer. We only spent a couple of days exploring the city, which was not nearly enough time because there are so many things to do here!
In this video, we explored the Catedral Metropolitana, saw incredible stone sculptures at the Federico Silva museum, ate a tasty meal at Hidalgo Market, wandered around the San Jose dam, discovered Leonora Carrington's fantastical art at the Centro de las Artes, frolicked in the Parque Tangamanga and took a trolley ride during Golden Hour.
There was so much more to do, so if you've been to San Luis Potosí and have suggestions for things to do when we return, leave them in the comments because we will definitely be back!

Let us know your best San Luis Potosí tips!
it's pronounced Poto-seeeee not po- toe-see. Accent on the last syllable. lol.
@@llauralop yes, we realized we butchered it while we were editing and it was far too late!
My best recommendation is Museum Laberinto in Parque Tangamanga I also, it has different rooms with interactive activities and temporary galleries.
@@AlejandraMataH Oooh cool - we'll have to check that out next time! Thanks so much!
Hi, are you still here in San Luis Potosí
I live in San Luis Potosí. I’m amazed of how beautifully you show my home town. It is, of course, a hidden gem that I’ve taken for granted. The weather is amazing and the food is delicious. Loved your view of my city.
❤️❤️❤️ thanks so much for watching - we loved your city and are jealous you get to live there!
@@TravelWTravis You’re welcome anytime. You still have to discover the beauty of the surrounding small towns and natural landscapes. If you love it now, you’ll love San Luis even more!!

Yes we DO!
I cannot stress enough the importance of going to Huasteca Potosina, one of the best trips in my life and I've already traveled to quito some other countries. It truly is the hidden gem of Mexico, recommend the bike zip line as top of the list
Will do!
Fresh made tortillas are the absolute best! 👌

You had me at "I love a good travel torture"! Love it!! You two are adorable ❤
You wonderful guys are Great Ambassadors for Mexico 🇲🇽! Thank you for your marvelous videos! Blessings always.
❤️💚❤️!
This is one of your best ! We are adding this town,SLP, to our travel list. BTW your editing and presentation skills have risen above the norm for CZcams.
Oh wow - thanks so much! And definitely check it out if you get the chance - we wished we could have stayed longer!!
Watching during a blizzard. Thanks for the vicarious warmth and vibrant colors. :) Leonora Carrington's art reminded me of Pan's Labyrinth.
Im from SLP, currently Living in Texas, Thank you for visiting my City, you are so kind and you showed SLP as I remember it ❤
My husband is from Xilitla, SLP, where Las pozas is located. It is a surrealistic ‘garden of Eden’ made by Edward James. Also in Xilitla is another Leonora Carrington museum. La Huasteca región is a beautiful, tropical paradise in Mexico, a must see and do while in Mexico, most definitely recommend to rent a car while visiting the area since most ‘must see’ areas are a distance from each other. I DO NOT recommend to go during Semana Santa, the line is 3-5 hours long to get into Las Pozas that weekend.
Ooooh yes we can’t wait to get a car and go back!!
So happy and proud to be from these beautiful city..villa de Arriaga . My home town s.l.p..
So lucky!
Wow i was visiting in Puerto Vallarta for 5 weeks and am now trying to catch up on your vlogs, love this city, never even heard of it. Thanks for showcasing some lesser known but spectacular places.
Hope you had an awesome time in PV!!
I am just loving your video wish I was there now
Check out Cafe Cortaó. Tangamanga park (the second largest park in Mexico). Jardin Tequis. San Jose dam is built out of Granite. The dam is a busy place on the wekends.. Iv'e lived here more then a year and love it here. -Marc
Shout out to The Two Travelers. They have made SLP their home and been an inspiration.for those thinking about retiring in Mexico
@@MikeL-qr4dz Awe, thank you Mike. -Marc
Hola !! Wondering if you've ever been on a 2nd tier bus... That's torture!!😁
But otherwise, I loved this video! Especially when you ate at the mercado. Guayabas are my favorite fruit to eat, my favorite agus fresca is Lima, Fresa & Piña. What are yours?
Was amazed at the museum Leonora Carrington! Next time I go to San Luis I will definitely go there. I agree with prisons to art, wouldn't that be a wonderful world...
(Also, POH - toh - see, with a hard emphasis on the POH😘)
haha we took a bus from PV to Sayulita that wasn't as plush, so maybe that was second tier? It was a short trip though so wasn't so bad! And our faves are guayaba this dragon fruit, which we had at a mercado in Merida and it was deliiiiish.
Thank you for showing my home town, i think that not many go visit it even that it is so beatifull.
So beautiful!
I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS & I LOVE YOU GUYS!!!
Thank you so much!
Thank you for taking us along this wonderful trip through beautiful San Luis Potosí!
Be safe and stay healthy!

Yes, one of our favorite places. You defiantly have to go to the Huasteca Potosina area during the hotter months. The water falls are breath taking! 🥰 Also El Real de Catorce is a Pueblo Magico!🥰
We can’t wait to go back!

San Luis Potosí does look great! You mention it is named after Louis IX, but the Google page shown is Louis XIV. I really watch all your vids, and will venture to some on future trips. Thank you!
Another great video!
Loved it!
I recommend you guys visit SLP during "Semana Santa" holidays, this is around end of march and begin of april. Take a complete week and go to Real de Catorce and any of the many beautiful locations of Huasteca Potosina, you will enjoy so much and discover how vibrant and live this city and state is!!! You are very welcome to my city!

Hi guys, glad you liked the city. I really recomend you to come again and visit Real de Catorce and Cerro de San Pedro, it's not so far from the city. These were mine towns in the good old days, you will have a blast out of these places! Thanks for coming to San Luis Potosi, come back soon!

Y'all keep adding more places to my "list"!
Hey there Cafe con Leche Travels. Happy to see that you enjoyed San Luis Potosí. I live here, most of the places you went to, are really dear for me. The Centro de las Artes is full of memories. I studied performing arts there.
Greetings, hope you come back soon.
hey cafe con leche, love your amazing travels such beautiful scenary and food always looks so delicious - keep videos coming :-)

Bienvenidos.🥰
Hermosos...🥰
San Luis Potosí is a very interesting city. It hold the largest celebration during holy week. The railroad museum is a must full of history. The churches and cathedral is amazing. Plus museums in the city are also amazing and interesting.
Man y'all make me hungry 😅😁😅😂🥰 Amen 💕🔙
Excelente video!!
It's completely landlocked and filled with many intriguing cities, mystical waterfalls and lagoons, bursting with culture and history and its capital, San Luis Potosi, was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2010. It's a popular destination for visitors looking for adventure and eco-tourism.
You should go to Real de Catorce, it is mágical and has a lot of history.
You need drive 3 hours.
@@beatrizcamarillo9053 to*come on speak it well
Very cool! I went to SLP once to visit family and loved it! I really want to go back one day, the city center is beautiful! BTW it’s pronounced Potoe-see (emphases on the “see”) 😉
Hahah yes, we realized we had been mispronouncing it the whole time when we were editing 🤦♂️
@@TravelWTravis lol no worries it happens
But maybe not, I am wondering what your take on this is

I really like how you show locations on the map. Nicely done. It's hard to find good videos of San Luis Potosi.
I loved watching your video, I'm from San Luis, currently living in Australia. This video brought some good memories about my past years. Hopefully you guys can visit La huasteca potosina, the best place to see waterfalls and swimming. Great video :)
We can’t wait to get back!
Nice drone shots!
You guys do videos - a cut above the rest. Good job.
Nice visit and yeah I agree..too short! That BnB is awesome! Are you sure it took a full five minutes for David to fall asleep on the ride up? LOL I bet more like three!
We miss you, David and Travis! This was “classic” Cafe Con Leche… loved the joy, the fun, the information, and the totally unique take you guys share. You make it look so easy but there must be a ridiculously hard amount of work that goes into creating such incredible videos. Thank you. You are missed. I hope you are THRIVING in LA. You deserve all the best. Thank you for keeping this channel “archived” up for your fans. Perhaps someday the time will be right for you to return. Godspeed! ❤

That Airbnb is beautiful!
❤️❤️❤️
Leonora is one of my favorites. I'd better get packing!
If you're interested, check out the Spanish royal edict on city planning from the early 1500s. You can basically be plopped down in any colonial city and find your directional cues.
ETA: really like ypur incorporation of drone footage 👍🏻👍🏻
Love the name of your channel. My wife is from San luis Potosi. We live in Miami.
Oh wonderful - she’s so lucky!!
The cafe and leches are deliciously complementary and fun
Another great video. Israel, you sold SLP to me. On my list of places to visit on my next trip.
Po two see lol. I visited there and it is beautiful. Greetings from Querétaro.
Sahn Loo IS potoe SI looks great thanks for showing.
David's first "Let's go" was suave 😉 Amazed that you hadn't heard about SLP. Haven't been there yet, but it's on my list! LOVE the salmon fridge in your Airbnb! The sign dance, YAY! Do you ask if there's lard in the oil used to cook the fries? They looked great! Loved the painted underpass. The dam made me wonder where all the water went. "Rest our biscuits?" LOL What a beautiful church! Neat museum. The Be Life Burgers food looked amazing - Anne
Wasn't that fridge amazing? And we didn't ask what the fries were cooked in - we're not the strictest vegans on the planet, so just as long as we don't eat meat directly, we feel ok with it 🤷♂️ Thanks for watching and leaving such a kind comment Anne!
@@TravelWTravis Do you guys have any experience with seeing Gluten Free options as you analyze restaurants for their vegan qualities? Our recent problem is needing to be GF. Tacos with tortillas de maiz are fine, but breading options are still mysterious.
Thanks for sharing this hidden gem with us! Proud of you two for bravely going vegetarian at the central mercado and finding it delicious. No doubt saved you some pesos as well.
Yes - both plates were about $7 total (we tipped another $7 because that's insane and they were so kind to us)!

Hi guys! There is a couple that has a you tube channel that live in San Luis Potosi, but you guys showed it so well! Definitely a city I would like to visit!
❤️❤️❤️ definitely add it to your list!
CZcamsrs Marc and Paulette? I know them. I live in San Luis Potosí also. Everything is open on Mondays except musuems here. Most taco and hamburger street venders don't open until 7:00 or 8:00 in the evenings. Alan
That's funny. Vegan is "Vegano" in Spanish. Next time you want to try this again, ask them if they offer comida vegana. Beautiful city🤩
Los amo amigos ❤️
Love the video
Thanks Tim!
El Veganito Mixe keeps odd hours. It was closed various times I've tried to go, but it is worth a visit. Like a regular Mexican taqueria, but all plant-based fillings. Friendly owners, too.
David slept? Shocker!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
The welcome Travis abs David sign was so cute.
Right?!

You're so welcome - thanks for watching!
That trolly is a perfect tired tourist activity!
Wowza. The camera work is next level!! Really well done. Beautiful city.
Do you two wear fit bits? I wonder how many miles you walk a day?
haha thanks! On days we're out exploring we usually walk like 8-10 miles 😬
I , LOL saw your large travel cases you travel with. Me Nike Air dry and a Backpack.
Okay Cafe con Lethe we see you! Work that drone boys 10’s 10’s across the board 🎉👍
hahah 😘
We got a lot more museums hidden in the city, you need to come back to see all of them . And yes! Leonora was really prolific, she did many things in her life. And she was one of the most important figures of surrealism as an art movement. They need to see more of her art and writing in her other museum, it's in Xilitla. There you can see more of that art movement because there is Edward James Jarden, another great art collector and friend of hers. And you will love the town and the coffee! and there they have more vegan options and exotic fruits to try.
We definitely need to come back!
Thanks again for a tour of discovery. So I just came upon something I have never seen in Mexico. Netflix has a series which takes place in Mexico and is about food called Heavenly Bites. First episode is about micheladas. It is beer mixed with other things. Never saw any like these. But the conoctions are wild. Have a look and if you find some crazy ones let us know. Hasta sabado.
ah yes! we saw that pop up in our feed but haven't watched yet! Will add it to our list!
