- Pantheism. Radical. Dangerous. Seductive. Born from the awe and wonder that reality itself inspires. From the experience which dissolves boundaries and egos, of union between the human, the world and God.
Kicking off this series on key concepts of mysticism, by exploring the varieties of pantheism, the ways it has been formulated and expressed. Related concepts; panentheism, pandeism, panpsychism, acosmism and monism… The religious and philosophical arguments make for it. The objections raised against it, and responses. The quandaries it gives rise to and what it might mean for us today and for the future of humanity.

And every common bush afire with God,
But only he who sees takes off his shoes;
The rest sit round and pluck blackberries.

Yep for me it happened a couple of weeks ago when my family called me an atheist, which i knew I was not.

The secret of Christianity that most don’t know is a doctrine in Catholicism called “theosis” which is to say we see God in all things and that the mission of Christ was to awaken us to the divinity inside us. Hence he says “you are all gods.” We are called to participate in the divine.

It is absolutely true to see everything that ever was, and is, and ever will exist as One whole. To seek with your every fiber ( the desire must burn hotter than any flame one has ever witnessed)... to seek like this will open doors within doors of wisdom and knowledge of the eternal kind.

Well, another dive on the deep end of the pool! And yes, I am mostly a pantheist. I believe the profound truth that the ALL is ONE and the ONE is all.
One of my first experiences was pantheistic - I felt one with everything. I am an amateur astronomer (very, very amateur) and the stars always take me back to my first intuition. Looking through the eye piece of an 8 inch telescope is a religious act. I'm on home ground.

Pantheism isn't "theism" at all. Technically, it should be called "panism", as it is not correlated with any theistic ideas or religions. Basically, it should not have the "theism" label.
Yes, we are the kingdom! Consciousness, that is.
I do find it interesting that the Bible, although one would think is theistic, makes the claim that no man can ‘see the face of god and live’
I want to say that that has a pantheistic vibe, meaning if you could see what you were, (aka God aka everything) your head would explode for that infinity of knowledge lol

what if god is what you believe ? so if God is everywhere, within everything. god is part of you and all around us, we are all been watched over by God or higher power. when you are looking for an answer or god you look within yourself because you are part god and universe is within you. our believes and actions change the reality because we are part god. good and bad is all for your own good. Everything has to be Balanced.
In Pantheism, every thing is God. " I and the Father are one." So are you.
I've always been a fan of Spinozian pantheism. And I also love the mysticism of the American Transcendentalists. I look forward to more content on the subject. Especially the philosophical dimension. I'm also quite interested to hear how the mathematical principles of potential and actual infinities relate to pantheism.
Hey Hal, you’ve come to the right place if that’s what you’re into 😉 Looking forward to getting into all that and more. (I’m also a Spinoza fan boy, you should check out the two vids we did on him).
Is it possible to say that (from a Mystic point of view) from the point of view of Eternity (Ein Sof), there is no dichotomy between Transcendent and Immanent, between Contingent and Necessary, between being and not being, between existing and not existing? If there Is Infinite Modes of Substance (even if we only know two of them), these include being and non-being, existing and non-existing. therefore there is no dichotomy between Creation and Eternity. between Pantheism and Panentheism... Spinoza's problem does not exist. or am I wrong?
i think we’d agree on that sentiment, but i think it needs some fleshing out, thinking about, praying on, meditating with and experiencing before being properly understood, because it’s kinda counter-intuitive y’know.

@@SeekersofUnity Thanks, I never tought of it on this way. But would that what you ask imply that the God is only good, which I am not so sure of any more? This is my big problem with God, somehow. Could you please recomand me some videos that could help?
I don’t think it needs to imply that, just the end of distinction, i.e., all being one thing, is enough to eradicate the distinction/different between good and evil for example.
I feel like the big bang is the best evidence for pantheism. I feel like the complexity of quantum mechanics is also great evidence for pantheism. Maybe understanding a God that began as the Big bang is beyond the capability of mere humans, though this quest of incredible minds such as yourself, is extremely fascinating.

I have been trying to figure out if there was a name for what I believe in . I came across this but I dont know if its quite what I believe. I know that I believe in the universe itself and that we and everything is connected however I don't believe that there is a "God " . When I think of God I think of buda, or jesus, or Hinduism guy. I just think the whole universe in general I guess. I'm still learning but if someone can put me on a good path that would be great thanks.
Gods are more like celebrities for me.
I lean more towards panentheism. If I have mind and personality, then God had it first. As above, so below. Nevertheless, I think everything in the universe shares at least some ground-state interconnection with God.
We lean together Endless Nameless.
Agreed. The idea of Panentheism ultimately solved my problem with Pantheism. If I have a mind, there must be a greater mind from which humans were able to come from. The idea of beings with minds and inner lives coming out of a mechanical, dead universe makes no sense to me at all.
And where did that greater mind come from?

Ehyeh asher ehyeh, or I am that I am.
If the universe is god, and you are [part of] the universe, your mind is [part of] the mind of god. That's how it would work for pantheism anyway.

Hi Trevor. Thanks for saying hi, nice to meet You :)
What does that actually mean?
Well-placed info and delivery. If I might suggest not starting with negative opinions; it isn't gonna help unify people, brother..
I came to this video as a "seeker" (I'm now discovering that there is a word for the beliefs I've had since post-christian school), and continued to listen beyond the negative intro ("dangerous", "seductive", ".. dissolving of boundaries", etc...) out of respect for my journey. Maybe consider at least letting the weaker-minded folks get a couple minutes in before giving your opinion or dropping subjective morality; you'll lose the ones that are quick to dismiss anything that sounds like what they want to hear before gaining traction with them, and we know the modern world is a very sensitive one, as I'm sure you know..
I hope this is only taken as constructive criticism to help your journey as you've helped mine 🙏🏼
Thank you brother for the constructive feedback. I very much appreciate it. Welcome 🙏🏼

Pantheist is not a religion, its nature belief
Facts bro! “God” is the totality of creation, point blank period. That is true spiritually & the oldest form. That everything is connected. The self expression of “God” through me, you, and everything in the universe 💯💪🏾 This philosophy is waaay over 100K years old, way before Greece was even a thing. The ancient Blacks throughout the entire world believed in this
U missed the point of his video, that we’re not all connected or a part of god. But god is separate and unique from us and his creation.

Physically we are in a world of multiplicity and we recognise divine attributes manifested in those around us especially parents who are our first contact but all the wonders and creation of god around us manifesting different attributes are "SIGNS" pointing to a GREATER reality, the multiplicity is NOT G-D but an EXPLANATION of G-D.Like me writing here which u can see and read is NOT me and no part of me is inside my writing but this writing is an ATTRIBUTE of mine which stems from knowledge, knowledge is my attribute which you can see.similarly the multiplicity in the universe are attributes "pointing" "signing" "directing"towards a greater source. Now this as I mentioned is in the physical world of multiplicity but when we come to ourselves this divine creature we call "HUMAN" he says I am "SINGULAR" ie there is only one of me and within myself i find "singularity" of "purpose" "meaning" "direction" "thought"and so on,every human says he is "one" this is where singularity or monotheism begins within oneself. Maybe someday ZEVI we will talk about the non physical self😀. U ended with a poem I will end with an observation. I noticed the birdsong of a bird did not change in tune or sound while sitting on a branch singing in a storm while the tree was swaying left to right.

I have beleived this for awhile now. God is all powerful and infinite. Sounds very much like the definition of the universe to me.. I have also been wondering about parrallel universes and what that would mean. Could our God be part of an entire race to massive to comprehend? How would a microorganism feel about the human race, if it was capeable of becoming aware of our existence?

The entire universe is pure Consciousness (Shankara's Advaita Vedanta). That al-pervasive uncreated Absolute can be called "God" but best not to conflate the Impersonal Absolute with "a" separate dualistic Creator-God. But nonetheless, if there is such a Creator God (per Shankara), the Essence of that "God" is simply pure Consciousness along with everything else in the universe.. To tap into that pure Consciousness, no problem. Just access "Mahamritunjaya mantra" - Sacred Sounds Choir", and "Om Namah Shivaya - Shivananda Adi". Listen to each for 5 min per day for at least two weeks.

Theism is pantheism 101.
All religions point to the same thing: pantheism. They are just written differently and mostly not well understood (probably not by their believers also). “There is nothing but Himself/Itself” Bible Deuteronomy
Welcome Shlomo.
The hippies motto was to spread love and not hate. They saw everyone as their family. They considered all life equal.
You can view their ideas from a scientific, spiritual or religious point of view, and they all sharing a common general message, yet would be disliked because their belief did not line up exactly the way all other dogmas wanted.
God's closeness doesn't means your particles are him and he is you, closeness means that he is the one who created you in love and justice ,the qualities of God is given to man / man is closer to God by him being able to reflect all the attributes of God that he has revealed about himself
We Hindu peoples believe in pantheistic monism.
Somebody hasn't transformed into mist and evaporated into a cloud before
You are GOD everything is GOD when you hurt others and other life you hurt yourself
I love plucking blackberries.
That’s where it’s at.
I don’t understand how others in this belief reject the idea of a anthropomorphic god, or one with a mind.
Since god is everything that exist, then I am an expression of god. I am anthropomorphic, I also have a mind. Therefore god has these qualities, yet is not limited to it.
I wouldn’t necessarily say that. I believe that everything thinks and feels in its own way and has the power to create others who will never think and feel that exact same way. Particles even down to smaller than we are able to see using modern instruments are all part of that as well. There is no “god” the word should not be used in describing anything based around this belief (in my opinion). I feel like it was just used to help explain it. It’s more of a feeling than a concept. Putting it into words is not easy.

Obi-Wan Kenobi, LoL
I hate the word god. There is no figure, there is just all. We are all. Feel the earth beneath you and it feels you. I know exactly what she means by “take off their shoes” everything is us and therefore you are connected with yourself and all others by just being you. There is nothing to it. Every decision we make is the same as water forming. It flows just like our blood. Be happy and just take it all in sometimes. I wish others knew how good it feels to enjoy all that is around you because you are meant to be there. There is no right or wrong. There just is. What you want flows through everyone and everything the same. We may not put it in words all the same and nature may be unable to communicate the way we do but that does not mean we are the only ones alive.

Thank you. Ya, we’ll have to get into some nothingness. I’d love to hear your take on nothing too.
Not the original poster, but I think you can see negative theology in many traditions. If something is a “thing” it means it has boundaries and is subject to dissolution. If God is infinite and eternal, you cannot say He is a “thing”. Therefore, God is a great “No-thing” not in the sense that he doesn’t exist but because you can’t limit him. He contains infinite potential and life. I’ve always thought Buddhism takes this furthest with its idea of Sunyata. Ultimately though these are just words :)

Hi, heres a cool quote from essentian kaballah.
“The first sefirah shares in the negative nature of Ein Sof and is sometimes referred to as Ayin. Nothingness. As one kabbalist puts it, “Ayin is more existent than all the being of the world. But since it is simple, and every simple thing is complex compared with its simplicity, it is called Ayin.”7 In this primal state, God is undifferentiated being, neither this nor that, no-thingness.”
What if not "He is God", instead "It is God". Whoah I feel less egoistic, neutral and enlightened.
God is not a comic book character. Man is God asleep, God is man awakened.
I bear witness that there is no God but Existence, and science and philosophy is its messenger.
The Abrahamic God cannot be the creator of existence, because that implies that he existed before existence existed. But nothing can exist, if existence doesn't exist, not even a creator. As soon as something exists, existence exists! Thus, existence has to be its own cause, claiming otherwise is akin to claiming that the cause of existence doesn't exist. Existence comes from existence! The highly hypothetical and unlikely Abrahamic God, popping out of nowhere and beginning to pull rabbits out of his hat, would thus be reduced to being a mere manifestation of existence.
Existence contains and is the source of all force, energy and matter and it is the mover of anything which is moving. Thus existence is an omnipotent being. It spreads out, encapsulates and includes every single spot of the big infinite all, it is everywhere! Thus it is an omnipresent being. Existence is a living being, it lives all lives that are being lived, simultaneously in parallel, it lives through you me and all other living beings. It senses everything which is being sensed, feels everything which is being felt, thinks every thought which is being thought and knows all knowledge that is known. Existence is thus an omniscient being. Existence is an infinite, almighty, all powerful, all present, all knowing creator being and there is only ONE of the big infinite all. Existence creates existence in the image of existence and you, me, everyone and everything which exists is a part of that beautiful and infinite image. Everything is connected! All is one!
Love God
I'm not G*d, we are G*d.
