    ABOUT THE OXFORD UNION SOCIETY: The Oxford Union is the world's most prestigious debating society, with an unparalleled reputation for bringing international guests and speakers to Oxford. Since 1823, the Union has been promoting debate and discussion not just in Oxford University, but across the globe.
    The Oxford Union is deeply grateful and encouraged by the messages of support in response to our determination to uphold free speech. During our 200 year history, many have tried to shut us down. As the effects of self-imposed censorship on university campuses, social media and the arts show no signs of dissipating, the importance of upholding free speech remains as critical today as it did when we were founded in 1823. Your support is critical in enabling The Oxford Union to continue its mission without interruption and without interference. You can support the Oxford Union here: oxford-union.org/supportus

    "This is the first speech of six." - Better to have put that in the title (as 1/6) rather than in the description, like this channel used to.

      Read Istanbul papers from 2022 and you will know what Putin wants and was ready to accept. The same for Zelensky. Had not been a No from USA/UK, war already ended one month after the beginning!

    Ukraine is NOT the top priority of Americans nor the USA. The USA has more pressing issues like its own native population, securing our borders/ mass deportation, and restoring our nation🇺🇸

      Speak for yourself. I don't want one singular penny for the border that isn't matched with aid for our allies. We don't deserve security if we can't also keep our promises.

    • @volusian95
      @volusian95 Před 2 měsíci +4

      We can have both. I'm American and the security of Ukraine+Eastern Europe is indeed a priority to me.

    • @oliski7019
      @oliski7019 Před 2 měsíci +1

      The US can multitask. It's a superpower. All nations need to address multiple issues simultaneously, and Americans should expect nothing less thn for the country to be able to 'walk and chew gum at the same time', as in address the very real problems at home, while also meeting it's commitments abroad.
      US support for Ukraine is not the cause of America's problems. Ukraine is not the reason why the US is unable to secure the southern border. Ukraine is not the reason for crime in US cities. Ukraine is not the reason why the US does not have free or affordable healthcare. Ukraine is not responsible for poverty or homelessness in the US. These are all legitimate problems that should be addressed, but US support for Ukraine is not the reason for them or why they're not being addressed by American politicians, and we should not be fooled into believing that it is.

    Cannot believe there is still a debate, its obvious we need peace deal. The more escalation only bringsww3 closer. Russiacanendukraine in hours if it wants it. To be honest the west actually wants that move,so it can isolaterussia🤦‍♂️

    • @oliski7019
      @oliski7019 Před 2 měsíci +2

      Nonsense. Russia can't 'end Ukraine in hours if it wanted to' lol. They've been trying to do that for over 2 years now. 😆 The 3 day SMO isn't going too well. 🤭
      & Russia is doing a good job of isolating itself from the rest of the world by making itself totally economically dependent on China lol.

    Hah. "Russia participates in this war without aid from other countries" is just factually wrong. Where do they get drones from? Why did Lavrov, a minister of foreign affairs, travel to North Korea? It truly amazes me how a member of the most privelleged socioeconomic class of the British society discusses how other sovereign nationw should behave and how they should submit to a dictator. The stench of imperialism coming from that young gentleman wearing a fancy suit has striking similarities to the one coming from Putin.

      I couldn’t agree more with what you just said. Words coming out of this guy’s mouth are truly dangerous and disgusting. Russian propaganda has indeed found its way into the West and instead of fighting it we are letting people like him lecture us… truly embarassing

      Ukraine has 40 countries giving it aid. North Korea and Iran are not exactly powerhouses of industry. They are heavily sanctioned failing or on the verge of failing states. 40 to 2, percentage wise, pretty much Russia has no help.
      If you are going to say we have to be exact, well let's do so where it actually matters. Western leaders said there would never be Western soldiers in Ukraine, that was Russian propaganda to say so. Well why did they not mention the Western soldiers in Ukraine right now as proved by leaked German audio? It truly amazes me how Western leaders, members of the most privileged socioeconomic class of the Western world would directly lie to us and risk WW3 in our name.

    • @jessiejb4684
      @jessiejb4684 Před 2 měsíci +2

      Don’t be obtuse. Russia manufactures and purchases its own weapons. ‘Aid’ is something else entirely. It is u.s. imperialism which brought this war about and the only reason it pointlessly continues as we pay for civilians to be dragged off the street and thrown into a trench to give their life for nato’s ‘sacred open door policy’ to which they will never join. It’s wholly irrational. But It’s so easy to sacrifice others isn’t it?
