Exactly. Just bought this for myself and my fav feature is the mate black contrast w/ brushed gold links. So classy and not so flashy/audacious like the subs or sea dwellers. They will show the tiniest of scratches on the gold which are bound to happen as you wear them. This one won’t. Loving it.

I picked up the black dial S&G diver a year or so ago. Went into the AD to possibly get the steel bezel Black Bay (wanted a date function) or a Pelagos. I still kind of wish I'd have picked up the Pelagos, but when I saw the S&G up close with the brushed gold links I had to have it. I'm not even a big two-tone fan but man does this thing look great in person.

@@johnhernandez9739 Hey John. I am not a fan of the grey market. Too many reburbished returns, fakes, and frankens being sold. I've only had poor experiences with the gm, and the risk to save several hundred dollars is not worth it in my eyes. A grey market warranty is not a factory warranty and is covered by a grey sites own contracted watchmaker who may or may not be up on trainings and have authentic parts accounts. For me is it no question, the AD is the way to go.

Bought a Tudor Chrono S&G in Dec 2019, and a Tudor Chrono Steel in Feb 2021 when I read Tudor will discontinue shipment of the Steel model. The Tudor in-house MT5813 movement is technically far more superior than many well known chronograph movements, the start/stop of the Chrono is crisp, consistent and predictable. The value from Tudor, the movement and overall package of this time piece is hard to beat. Got to hold one and put it on your wrist and you know what I mean. Coupled with the reliable aftersale service and support from Rolex Service Center, it is a no-brainer to own and keep this time piece.

  • @cy4624

I have both the navitimer and the BB chrono. The BB is indeed an amazing value but the finishing of the Breitling's dial, crystal and bracelet is step above. The Breitling's movement is also finished to a higher degree although it lacks the modifications.
The Tudor does smoke my Tags in finishing though and for the movement you get, its a outstanding value.

Fantastic review Bruce!!!! I really like this Tudor. It's a throwback to the 70's especially on the bund-strap. Knowing Tudor they might come out with an all steel black bezel, black dial white/silver print/hands/hour markers (at least we have a steel bezel version). If only they had a 6 o'clock sub-dial date wheel or hour marker (maybe a 24hr). That would really kill the Daytona hype. It wouldn't be a "compromise" watch. It would stand on it's own as a Tudor, not a Rolex sibling. Wishful thinking a 39mm 3 register Tudor chrono LOL. Tudor would be able to keep up with demand.

My S&G had a smoky ring more on the level of that Speedmaster. I thought it looked cheap, almost like it was made of plastic. I sold it like over a year ago. This week I picked up the reverse panda version and I was immediately struck by the minimal smokiness of the crystal. I have to shine a flashlight at an angle directly on it to get it to look half as smoky as my S&G was. Makes me wonder if Tudor has been watching the forums and made some secret changes... or maybe there is natural inconsistency between crystals due to the production process?

Love this Chew-daah chrono steel and gold iteration although its been a while since its public release. Two pandas( norm and reverse) are already in my collection box and very happy with those acquisition in this September.
This time I am thinking adding this to my collection but I cannot decide between its bicolor bracelet version and leather strap. Going with bund strap may against the general recommendation in this market but this gold wrapped strap looks pretty much vulnerable to the smallest force and may be scratch magnet especially the solid gold end links and the exposed part of solid gold bezel. What can you recommend for me ? Thanks

It’s a nice watch but has the same BB pitfall principly slab sided hunk . Although not too tall when we consider other chrographs . Personally I’m not a fan of the bb on wrist , don’t find it the most comfortable watch in the world . Nonetheless I still think it’s a handsome beast ..Agree with Rolex / Tudor philosophy that it is not appropriate to have a highly decorated movement on a closed back tool watch . We wouldn’t wear a tuxedo working construction ..Good review Bruce ..

Really with you on not knowing what to think about faux rivets, have had them on a watch that I’ve had for two years and still don’t know.

I'm neutral to the rivet look. But either make it real rivets, or don't do it at all. While the look is pulled of well, I admit. The faux side plates do look like separate pieces.

Unfortunately the lack of 60 min and 12 hour registers vetos his four me personally. I love the design and is it were a 3 register like the speedmaster, Daytona, or Aquaracer it would be in my collection. Tudors are wonderful.

Really good review . I'm a fan of this watch but I'm not a big fan of gold so it's the all stainless for me . Well done , enjoyed this video 👍

it may not be a newbie. but i'd love to see a review on the Tudor Heritage Chrono (either the Gray or Blue). I personally have the Blue w/ the ETA movement & think it's a very underrated watch.

So strange , I was just thinking about how Hamilton is from Lancaster (mother’s hometown) when you told us where these were loaned in from

Bruce, love this watch. Got my Pelagos on order. So maybe my next Tudor. Love the snow flake hands as well.

I just wish the chrono wasn't actually screw down. That's a little too "vintage homage" for me! I was about to pull the trigger on this watch but I found that the chrono is just so cumbersome to use that it's not really practical. I wish they could figure that out. The new Omega Seamaster chrono is rated for 300m and the chrono pushers don't require any kind of screwdown. I guess the watch might be better if you don't intend on using the chrono all that much.
