How to Pronounce: Restaurant

Hello! I’m John Russell.
Let’s imagine a situation together. You are in a new place and you do not know where to go. You would like to get some food to eat.
What is perhaps one of the most important words you need to know?
The word I had in mind is this:
restaurant
A restaurant is a business that sells food and drink.
Restaurant can be difficult to pronounce for a few reasons.
First, restaurant involves three vowel sounds:

Repeat after me:
Rest aur ant
Restaurant also involves a consonant sound that can be difficult: the “r” sound:
Let’s work together on this sound.
Try to imagine that you are an animal making a growling sound. Be silly and exaggerate your language. It will help, I promise. Watch my lips and teeth.

And finally, restaurant has what we call primary and secondary stress. In other words, we say two parts of the words a little more forcefully.
Listen to me say the word. I will clap where we have the primary and secondary stress:
Rest(clap) aur ant(clap)
