When traveling to Alaska, you might want to consider the marine highway. That way you would be on a cruise with your van.

@@ChadandClaire How did I not watch this one?? So, I am from Alaska.. and it costs to out the van on the boat, but you can sleep in a tent on deck for free. But be FAST to get a tent spot!!! But I am 50 and have rented a cabin on the boat, and it was really nice. Just costly... but I would totally have stayed in a tent, I just had a back injury at the time and the driving was killing me, and I was alone. So a trip to Alaska is SO doable.
If I had to vote, I would say, get off in Skagway and drive to Whitehorse Canada and then into Alaska... Skagway is more touristy now than before, but when I was 10 there was only a train from Whitehorse, now there is a road. But it is a charming town and the history there is incredible. And the scenery... oh you guys will LOVE Alaska and Canada!
And then, for bears... they are a potential real problem. I drove from Haines to Wasilla and saw bears on the road. I chose to sleep in my car that trip and was fine. But some tips...do keep your food & trash locked up and big tip, a friend of mine who was a guide in the wilderness uses a marine flare gun to scare off bears. In addition to having bear spray... but the flare gun gives you more distance, you can scare them off sooner. And don't RUN. If for some reason you are attacked, don't run. Curl in a ball, wear a day backpack, and curl in a ball if they attack. But BOTH of you should have bear spray, not just one. And bells and such... will actually attract adolescents and those are the ones more curious and more likely to engage. Learned that from a biologist. A mom with cubs will try to get her cubs away but a teenager is more curious. So, stuff to keep in mind... but I have hiked plenty in Alaska and never saw a bear. But prep is KEY. Just be prepared, use common sense, and the flare gun/bear spray as back up... you should be fine. Alaska is totally worth it. My family and I drove the AlCan back in the 70s and I drove in the 90s... gorgeous trip, no bears. People are sadly the biggest threat these days. But everyone is so scared of bears... sad really. BUT it is a lovely lovely lovely trip! I hope you go and I kind of envy you. I am hoping to do that trip with my husband one of these days... we just bought a small lot in Talkeetna and will be building some cabins... but for now, we live in Norway, waiting for vaccines to travel :-) Happy travels, you guys! (& Chad who on earth inspired YOU? Your build is MY inspiration... we are planning to buy a van this fall and use it for small overnights locally as we are farmers, but the big Someday in the Sky,... I do hope to show my husband my country in its entirety! Or close to it... 😄)
Just found you guys yesterday while looking for van travel in USA vlogs. Thanks for answering the bathroom question. 😂 I couldn’t figure out how you managed given your tiny van. Looking forward to watching from the beginning (found you starting at Sedona). I just want to say how impressed I am at your maturity at such a young age. Very uncommon these days.

Yes! Do the Alaska cruise. We did 2 back-to-back cruises from Vancouver to Seward and back on Holland America and can't recommend it enough!
Amazing-- we've heard GREAT things about Holland America! We will definitely consider them as one of our top choices. Finger crossed the borders open up, and we can fly in to Vancouver for departure!
Hope you have a great time celebrating the holidays with your family. Florida girl here,, you will love swimming with the manatees. Crystal River has some great tours. If you can camp at Jetty Park near the Kennedy Space center, it is amazing.. We did an Alaskan cruise and it was fabulous! You will love it. May you build many happy memories on your travels.

you can get an "Omnia" oven or a "Ridgemonkey" - both are stove top ovens for baking/roasting/oven cooked meals.

Hello, Looking forward to the traveling video's starting as you head to warmer climates! So I took the chance and bought myself a 12v compressor fridge on Black Friday, not bad HoboTech did a review on the BougeRv 30 qrt cooler. Got it for $207 with a 3 year manufacturer's warranty on the compressor...I added a 3 year Amazon additional for an extra $34 dollars. Looks big enough for a week or more and it is smaller then my pelican 7 day cooler I sold this summer for $190 so for 60 bucks more no more ice! 1 thing left, and that is solar. I hope cyber monday will have some sales. Well you guys be safe and you should do a parody beefcake video with Chad ;) Happy Safe Travels!
