  • In Ukraine there are growing concerns that the fight back against Russia is stalling on the front lines. With the supply of western weapons held up by political disputes, Ukrainian soldiers are increasingly relying on their own creations to defend against Russian forces. Why haven't the high hopes for Ukraine's summer counteroffensive been met.

      Because Ukraine attacked the entire front line wanting to take every square meter, almost literally foot 👣 by foot. They should have concentrated on the weak areas to break through to get behind the defense instead of trying to do so across the entire front from north to south.

    The most sophisticated weapon the F16s have fought against was the simple guns of Iraqi soldiers, afaghan fighters, and the no anti aircraft Palestinian resistance. If NATO sends the F16s to Ukrain, whether piloted by Ukranian pilots or NATO pilots, then it will be indulged in challenges with sophisticated ant aircraft systems or have to face the Su35s. This is where the weakness of the F16s will appear. Here is when the F16s will lose their virginity to the Su35s. I suppose this is why the US refuses to send the F16s to Ukraine.

    The militaries of NATO etc. just do not want to see the lessons of this war. The impact of modern technology means that there is nowhere to hide on the battlefield now. It means that concentrating to attack is suicidal. It means that all things being equal the defence is stronger than the attack. Whoever is doing the attacking is taking very high casualties. Basically we are now back to World War I. In 1916 practically the whole French army mutinied and refused to carry out offensives, and only to defend their positions. Those who carried on attacking such as the British sustained industrial levels of casualties. In the end, the truth, never recognised here in Britain, is that strategic level factors decided the war. Notably the collapse of the German economy and political system. The only way the west is going to win this war is if the Russian political system collapses. The economy of Russia is in a much better position strategically than the Central Powers in WWI. Russia has a large surplus of energy, food and most types of raw materials. In addition Russia is not as economically isolated as the Central Powers were. It has help from the highly complementary economy of China and in reality all the BRICS countries are largely trading with Russia. Much of the world does not see this war as their war however much the US tries to twist their arms to take sides. The west has made so many enemies around the world in the last 300 years that this is seen as a chance for their domination to be weakened.

The United States also buys rocket engines for spacecraft from Russia(oil and fertilizer and nickel), England and the Baltic countries supply Russia (as well as Microsoft) with computer chips. There are a lot of things that are not being said in the mass media and world leaders.

    It's time for peace. NATO can't win this war... There's dignity in dialogue and recognizing that Russia is a superpower and has security concerns that must be taken seriously. That's the only way to save Ukraine. Wonder if USA would allow Mexico join a military alliance with China or Russia. Let's put the double standards aside and save Ukraine.

    The operational pattern NATO recommended is better suited for a scenario in which the attacker has air parity or better, artillery parity or better, and a far better park of mine-clearing equipment then Ukraine possesses. The NATO generals weren't wrong that the Ukraine should have been seeking a battle of decision, if at all possible. They weren't wrong that the best way to achieve a battle of decision [in one's own favor] is to concentrate one's mechanized assets into highly mobile units which can execute a blitzkrieg-style operation in the enemy's tactical and operational rear. However, in order for the attacker to get armored mobile groups into the defender's rear to create the conditions for a battle of decision, breaches have to be opened in the defenses and exploited rapidly. Ukraine simply didn't have the ability to operate this way. The Russians retained the ability to react to Ukraine's movements, turning what was intended to be a fast-moving battle of decision into a grinding war of attrition.

      Modern use of drones makes it near impossible to stage that many assets without the other side knowing immediately and sending a wave of hunter\killer drones, artillery, long range missiles all wrecking havoc on your concentrated forces.

      Without aircrafts like F-16, without artillery ammunition which NATO didn't provide in proper quantities, without focus on other advanced weapons even with superior man power you can't do much. It is all politics who afraid of russia, or payed by russia. Without focus you can't get results.

    • @ianleary5780
      @ianleary5780 Před 5 měsíci

      @@deanwilliams433 I agree that drones have greatly complicated the operational patterns. If Ukraine had air and fire parity, this might not be an insurmountable problem. Without those things, the inability to mass combat power unobserved greatly reduces the ability of the attacker to exploit breakthroughs. Anti-drone warfare has some catching up to do.
