- The Sine Community had the opportunity to interview Girts Ozolins and the team at Erica Synths in Berlin, Germany. Get an inclusive insight and learn more about the people behind this Latvian Eurorack manufacturer based in Riga.
The Erica Synths team is made of visionaries, engineers, musicians and our most important employee - Tuna the cat. Over the last couple of years Erica Synths has been working hard to create Eurorack modules and desktop instruments that make a difference in your workflow, whether for production in the studio, live performances on stage or educational goals in the classroom. They strive to offer the highest possible quality, aesthetics, sound and function.

What a great team. I can vouch that they absolutely stand behind their instruments, and educate. Many years ago, I was getting started in DIY with their Wogglebug DIY kit. I made some huge mistakes that ended up actually melting the pcb and destroying some traces. Girts teased me a bit (well deserved) but then buckled down with another member of his team and stuck with me through the whole process of trying to fix it. We ended up using a clipped lead to restore the trace and got it working. What I never shared with the Erica Synths team is that I was working on it with my then 6-year old son. It was a lesson that stuck with him to this day about not giving up. To this day, whenever we solve a problem we got stuck on, we call it a “Wogglebug moment”. And now my son is helping me design our own PCB’s and breadboard projects. Thanks to you Girts, and the whole team. You guys rock! Oh… and yeah… That Wogglebug (along with numerous other Erica Synths modules) sits front and center in my rack to date. It runs rock solid, and never gets ignored.
Erica is a concentration of this ethic, of proliferating stem interest.. I have many friends in Latvia who were there when much of this was starting to grow 20 years ago with frac rac and pooling old synthesizers in the scene as it was at the time . What it has become is phenomenal..
