In my quest to document alternative building technologies on this channel, I discovered a 2 bedroom house in Gikambura (Kiambu County, Kenya). According to Alex, the finished house shouldn't go beyond Ksh 1.5M (USD 10.7K). The structure alone without the finishes cost below Ksh 1M (USD 7.13K). Is that affordable? Nick can only show a finished house when the owners are ready to show it. So I am sure that if there was a finished house made with pre-cast panels, Nick would have already shown it. So we all have to be a little bit patient. It takes a while to finish a house

As architect i can say without doubt that the so called alternative technology are not necessarily cheap. Walling only make up 12 % of the build cost. Yes, you will definitely save on time but when you do your calculation the savings are negligible.

Yes they can as long as your engineer reinforces them during installation for such extreme weather conditions

We're working with the budget of the client, so sometimes the finishing process stalls or takes time. But some finished houses are coming soon on the channel

As part of the house design. That includes the use of a parapet wall

@@markgeorge7426 Cost savings on roof designs. It helps you use a simple, cheap butterfly roof instead of a flat slab or a gable roof. Cost savings are on timber or LGS trusses and mabati covers
