  • Are you stuck at making your home page? What do you need for your artist website? You can simple upload your art and your CV, or add a nice art blog, a web-store selling art prints and merchandising. Here are 7 elements you can select for your artist website.
    #1: Artwork gallery
    #2: Artist bio
    #3: Contact page
    #4: eMailing list
    #5: Blog
    #6: Social media links
    #7: Webstore
    If you want to read the written version, we just started the general and illustrated article about artists websites: veryprivategallery.com/artist...
    You can use Wix, Squarespace, Weebly, WordPress or Shopify depending on your needs. Wix is great for artists on a tight budget. Squarespace is easy to use and very elegant, but it costs a little more. WordPress is my personal favourite, but it does require some IT skills. Shopify is great for e-commerce but not so great as an art portfolio. Let me know what platform you use for your artist website!

    I am overwhelmed with all the options, limitations, speed, lack of knowledge on what I need technically speaking and not really knowing what each feature that I desire requires from a hosting platform. It is like walking in outer space, you see a lot of stars from a distance without any clarity. There is an over abundance of individuals marketing and affiliates out there and it is hard to find those who truly give genuine transparent feedback about the pros and cons for each platform for the artist. As an artist, flexibility is key. I am looking for the best place to sit my website with lots of design options, great disk space/bandwidth/security/uptime/website speed.for the following features: gallery/portfolio, Ecommerce, blog, POD options, and the best search optimization while on a budget.

    • @VeryPrivateGallery
      @VeryPrivateGallery  Před 2 lety +3

      I like the spacewalk analogy! Yes there are so many options today for individual entrepreneurs and creatives. If you want flexibility, I would recommend using WP back office. You have thousands of plug-ins and themes to choose from. You can work with ANY POD on the planet earth (and outer space). But it’s not easy to work with. Flexibility and ease unfortunately don’t go hand in hand.

    Thank you for all those videos. I've been watching a bunch of them. Very helpful. Maybe you could also give tips on how to reach buyers on social media, such as Instagram. I'd like to use Instagram to promote my art. I'm not a painter, I'm a fine art photographer. I've used Instagram in the past but without professional intentions. I could get a decent number of followers, however most of them were photographers as well. This time I want a new account to promote my art, I'd love to reach buyers but I'm afraid I will attract photographers again haha.

      safe Safelight-room This is a common problem - galleries want to attract buyers but they end up attracting lots of artists instead. But it’s not a bad thing. If you can get a decent number like 50K plus, you can eventually to recommended to collectors on Instagram.

      safe Safelight-room Alternatively you can target certain keywords (SEO) on your website, making content and attracting people to your site. It’s slightly more controllable than social media.

Initially I thought it would be easier to find buyers on social media, but now I'm starting to think differently, maybe I should focus more on a website and blog, using social media just as a plus not the main focus.

    • @VeryPrivateGallery
      @VeryPrivateGallery  Před 3 lety +3

    • @VeryPrivateGallery
      @VeryPrivateGallery  Před rokem

      You can make a Google business site. It’s better than not having a site in some ways. But you won’t have the unique domain name that corresponds to your artist name, and you can’t use SEO strategies to attract traffic.

      It depends on your IT skills and budget as well. If money isn't an issue, you can use SquareSpace (good blog, easy to use) or Shopify (good e-commerce, not too difficult to use). If you want to show up on Google results, WordPress is the best (need more computer skills but cheaper).

    • @VeryPrivateGallery
