We have produced films with many different instructors, including Tim Kennedy, Gray Bearded Green Beret, Kirsten Rechnitz, Jonathan Hollerman, EJ Snyder, TOPS Knives, and many more. Some of our films were sold to the instructors years after they were made, such as the Gray Bearded Green Beret series of films, but we still maintain the rights to post as the original producers.

    It is hard to determine "how long", which you never really did answer. I was an Army Medic for 23 years and taught it would take around 3 hours as a guideline for evac triage. Yes, a femoral bleed or even aortic speeds that up but even at that the t-quet is a blood flow slower/stopper. My guidelines were a mod of the rule of 3s...3 min zero air, 3 hrs zero blood, 3 days of shock and death is pretty much the winner. This video was the best short explanation I've ever seen. In that 3 hr time frame I also include heat and cold injuries...R.O.T but not set in stone.

    Seconds matter in stopping arterial blood flow; know how to use your tourniquet to stop the bleed and save a life.

      We love the Gen. 7 CAT, but there are a few other amazing tourniquets out there.

    Every Hunter / Outdoorsman should carry a tourniquet or have knowledge how to make one using a stick and some cloth

      100%. Construction workers as well, and Anytime you’re working with tools or materials that can cause you to get cut. People would be shocked if they knew how many law enforcement personnel didn’t have a tourniquet on their belt daily. As one of our former instructors once said, “if you have the tools on you to take a life, you should also have the tools on you to save a life”

      You may have seen it on Gray Beards channel, or if you ever bought the film, Wilderness Medical from us, or from him.

    The video is very interesting and important. It's also important to remember that even a small amount of blood loss can look like a lot. Maybe a video would be interesting.

    What do you think about Blood Stop Powder -like used on farms and ranches, to use in place of "official" stuff?

    • @TheSurvivalSummit
      @TheSurvivalSummit  Před 8 měsíci

      Surgeons hate the powder. It makes it difficult to repair the wound, which is one of the reasons the military stopped using it. The hemostatic packing gauze is better, and easier to manage when you do get to a trauma center.

    interesting. I don't mean to upset anyone, but years ago I tried to off myself and I feel like I definitely lost over 1.2 - 1.5 litres of blood but thankfully never passed out or went into shock. I wonder if some people just have more blood because of body size and/or diet. 🤔

      Don't ever be afraid of upsetting anyone, these types of dialogs are great. Blood volume does depend on size and weight; these are the averages. Feeling like you lost a specific amount of blood doesn't mean much if you don't actually know how much was lost, and he mentioned passing out around the 2nd liter of blood loss, as well as stating "most people". There are always variables.

      Absolutely there are always scenarios to each individual, but this is a great guideline. In a healthy adult you can guesstimate 70-90 ml/kg of blood circulating at any given time. With a loss of 15% of volume (remember it is not just blood...we sweat as well especially if the climate is a hot one) that is when the danger begins.
