Traditional Irrigation Method of Punjab | Ancient Water Technology System | Water Lifting with Bulls

Cattle play very important role in the life of farmers. They not only provide food but also support in farms to complete different task with ease. Bulls or cows are very helpful in traditional irrigation method. This ancient water technology system is very common in Punjab.
In this traditional method bulls pull up water from a well or other such source to irrigate the land. Farmers use a large wheel and tie it above the water source or well. Bulls or cows move the wheel and fetch the water up. These methods are known as moat, dhekli, rahat or jhatta in Pakistan, India and other parts of the world.

Ok so this is a Persian wheel it is a method of lifting water from open wells . It's mostly powered by draught animals . There are some buckets tied to a chain which are dipped in the water . These filled buckets are emptied in irrigational channels
