It snows in New South Wales, Victoria and Tasmania every winter. Lots of snow in the mountains. Australia has the world's oldest ski club.

The harbour can be busy on any fine day. The tall ship is a restored tall ship, not sure which one 🤷🏼‍♀️ The James Craig is moored in Sydney Harbour most days & takes part in lots of events on the harbour. You can go on board to check it out &/or book in for a sail around the harbour. It’s real, no cgi, just a beautiful, authentically restored (not a replica) tall ship ✌🏼

"Is this all 100% real?" Yeah, all of that stuff is real. The snow is real, the thing with all the boats is real. You'd be right, the rows of plants would be grape vines. If you love space, when you get down here, get out of the cities, away from the bright lights, and on a clear night go somewhere you can look at the night sky. It's quite a sight in the southern hemisphere. The Milky Way will absolutely blow your mind. Make sure you have a look at Alpha Centauri while you're in the southern hemisphere (Alpha Centauri AB just looks like one star but its not hard to find naked eye -- that triple system has the closest stars to us).

Anyone who posts videos of lists of reasons not to come to Australia should watch this video . This is just NSW every state and territory in Australia has these kinds of beutiful places, we truly do live in a wonderous country. Everything featured was real no CGI and they didn't even show you all of our attractions, so you see why commentors are are advising you to come for more than the typical short American vacation ,you need time to see even a small sample of what we have to offer .

The first load of boats was the Sydney to Hobart yacht race.
There are lots of boats in the harbour for big occasions such as Australia Day, Sydney to Hobart yacht race, Sail GP and NYE.
The submarine thing that you pointed out was a prison, however it’s not used today, basically a smaller version of Alcatraz in San Francisco.

Thats a racing yacht probably from the start of the Sydney to Hobart yacht race every new years day. Google see what you can find. Spectacular. And those are probably grapevines. Lots of vineyards in NSW. And the horses are brumbies, wild horses, in the Snowy Mtns, not native but dfrom horses rhat escaped during the settle, ent phase of the country. Now a romantic part of our history and identity but also contentious given our ecology is very sensitive and easily damaged by hard footed animals. Apart from just Sydney, NSW has a bit of everything, deserts out west (where Mad Max was filmed), beaches, whale watching, diving, surfing, dolphins, mountains, snow and skiing, and subtropical rainforests (without crocodiles).

The sand dunes which are the largest in the southern hemisphere are at 19 mile beach Stockton near Newcastle.
The "orchard" is world renown grape vines in the Hunter Valley wine region also near Newcastle.

There are at least a couple of replica ships built to match famous ships that first came to Australia centuries ago, including the Leuuwin (Dutch ship that went by the coast in WA) and Endeavour (Captain Cook's ship that first stopped at Botany Bay in Sydney). I was lucky to enjoy a work Christmas party sailing off the coast on the Leuuwin a number of years ago. You can google it.

Great video, New South Wales is my home state, so especially pleased to see this showcase. Sydney harbour on New Year's Eve, Australia Day or 26 December (start of a famous yacht race) is standing room only. Arguably the best way to see Sydney is from the water. Take a $5 ferry ride to Manly and find out.

The thing you were curious about in Sydney Harbour is Fort Denison. It was originally only a rocky outcrop in the harbour known as "Pinchgut" as that is where the troublesome convicts were sent for punishment and the diet of bread and water gave them a sore gut feeling called pinchgut.
In the 1800's it was built up as a fortress with a turret and cannons to protect the harbour from a perceived invasion or attack from Russia.
To this day, a cannon is fired from there at 1.00pm each day.

G'day Mate! The thing like a submarine in Sydney Harbour is Fort Dennison which was built in the mid 1800's for the possible defence of the Sydney Colony and yes there are always heaps of boats on the Harbour...Cheers!

submarine thing in harbour is historic Fort Denison built on a island in the harbour in 1800's.

    • @artistjoh
      @artistjoh Před 11 měsíci

Some people call it Fort Denison. That is the official name given by the colonial administration and military in 1850. They used it both for defense of the harbour and as a prison with a reputation for no escape. However it had been used as a prison/solitary confinement place since 1788, when prisoners would be put on the island with the bare minimum of food. This lead to starvation, and the island's common name which most people use, which is Pinchgut.

    Great video mate!
Sydney to Hobart yacht race every year, yes that is real. Lots of spectator craft at the start and finish. The big field of "trees" is actually grapes for winemaking.
I too have faith that we will one day take our place in the stars. The old saying of Don't put all your eggs in one basket holds true for humanity as well. We must spread out from the Earth in order to ensure our survival in the distant future.
Oh and that shot of Sydney harbour is probably a slow day on the water. There are many ferries and water taxis as well as recreation craft. The city surrounds the harbour so it becomes a vital transport link.
Cheers mate, catch you next time.

And yes, Russell Crowe fiunded Indoor Garden Party and is the lead singer, as such, but he has a varied group of artists. We saw them in Canberra. Awesome show

BUT, Russell Crowe was lead singer for Indoor Garden Party a month ago. In fact, my last 3 videos on my channel are from their Cherry Bar gig (I still have 2 more to upload too).
I even got a photo with him after it.

@@andrewmortimer2602 Yeah. I was a little suprised. A lot kinda had a Leonard Cohen feel. I suspect some of the stories be was telling were the result of some pharmaceutical influences though (A bit of nose rubbing after he took a break 👀). God we were packed in at Cherry Bar. Did they have a film crew there too?
