Historic place. Fascinating to imagine what happened there almost two thousand years ago. As a parent though, I have to shake my head when I see a father lift his kid onto the rail like it was some sort of child car seat, with his legs dangling on the volcano side, at 17:50. All it would take is one squirm from your kid and he's gone. Great walk as always!
Mount Vesuvius is a special place for me, the crater is where my dad proposed to my mum 😊 Thanks for sharing!
I see a few overweight people climbing Vesuvius and I just wanted to say well done to them. (Even though I know that being overweight isn't just a problem of diet or lack of exercise). I just think it's great that they're pushing themselves like this 👏

@@ProWalks its magnificent for my first time...esp to look at the crater then turn to see the sea with vistas of naples and down to sorrento...Explore Italy has some drone pix of the area (and pleasant peasant musica) but your resolution is better and there's not that much to see inside that big hole...i like some drone footage but nothing compares to the actual filmed walk, even if you do start from a high base location...🌋🌅
I went to the top of the Vesuvius 10 years ago, the view was amazing and the walk to the top is quite easy (i saw a pregnat woman from northern Europe do it LOL) so i really encourage people to do it if they visit the area. Naples too has become very safe and is a really nice place to visit, if you have a week you can see it alongside the Costiera Amalfitana, Pompei, Ercolano and Paestum.

I am in Australia right now and there is a big difference between 97 degrees in Italy and 97 degrees here. I filmed a 6 mile walk yesterday in 97 degree heat and it about did me in. :)

Great ! Thank you. Watched a Documentary about Mount Vesuvius on ARTE last year, very impressive and scary.
I should look for that doc. There's a really cool CGI video on youtube of about 5 or 6 minutes going hour by hour of the eruption. Amazing that it was all over in, I think less than 48 hours. Just raw power.

It is active. It's an explosive volcano, not an effusive type of volcano. The last eruption was in 1944, not millennia ago.
Ask Pliny the Elder how he feels about that statement
It is currently sleeping. Hopefully it will do it for many more years.
