Il s'agit de la Garde Nationale Roumaine du Battalion d'infanterie de la Kriegsmarine Autrichienne du port de Pola, qui etait forme par des roumains de la Trasylvanie a la fin de la guerre pour mantenir la paix parce que il y avait des incidents violents entre les croates, les slovenes et les serbes et les roumains etait neutres. Nous etions a Verdun pour garder la memoire des roumains de la Transylvanie qui ont combatu pour l'Autriche Hongrie a Verdun en 1918, y compris un regiment de ma ville natale, Cluj. Le choix de l'uniforme etait une question practique - on avait deja des uniformes de l'Infanterie Marine Roumaine et c'etait plus facile a les transformer en uniformes AH que tranformer les uniformes d'infanterie "terrestre". 1916 was when the M16 helmet was pressed into service, so a lot of units still wore the Pickelhauben well into about mid 1916 until it was fazed out and the M16 was made standard issue.

Around the same era, all the participating powers were committing crimes in their colonies or against their native minorities. The Germans had killed 80,000 in Namibia, The French had killed one Million in Nordafrika, The Americans had killed 200,000 in the Phillipines. The Australians were exterminating the natives. The Austrians had killed Mexikans (1862-67) and Serbs after 1914.
Shame about the flag but it goes to show us its taken us a 100 years until once two armies can march together in the same street without shedding blood, us Europeans are strange people, we can fight each other the next day, then tomorrow we will redraw our borders and in 10 years we will sit down and remember the folly of it.

Pour 14/18 TOUTES les familles Française ont été touché. Tout ça pars des politiques véreux des deux camps. De plus la France n'a plus gagné de guerre depuis Napoléon, la première et la seconde fût gagné grâce au Américains. A médité.

Et durant la première, la France à bout de souffle aurait perdu sans l'arrivée des contingent Américain et même Africain. Oui ils ont été brave nos soldats, mais si tu veux honoré leurs sacrifice, ben tu ferais mieux de te recueillir sur leurs tombes et prier pour leurs repos en espérant que cela ne ce reproduise plus. Mais avec des gens comme toi, l'uniforme kakis a encore de bon jours devant eux. Bientôt la gays pride suivra les colonnes des fanas de l'uniforme.

In 1916 the German Army still used the pickelhauben? And those with the blue berets look like requetes.
1916 was when the M16 helmet was pressed into service, so a lot of units still wore the Pickelhauben well into about mid 1916 until it was fazed out and the M16 was made standard issue.

One can only speculate what would have happened had the centenary of the battle of Verdun used the imperial German flag.
What would the men comment who died in this horrible war ? "We were all victims !" Around the same era, all the participating powers were committing crimes in their colonies or against their native minorities. The Germans had killed 80,000 in Namibia, The French had killed one Million in Nordafrika, The Americans had killed 200,000 in the Phillipines. The Australians were exterminating the natives. The Austrians had killed Mexikans (1862-67) and Serbs after 1914.
