    I just got my Expert grade delivered, SA June 1942. By the drawing numbers it’s mostly SA WWII parts between 1942-1944 except the ops rod W.R.A mid 44 and rear sights that are post war and of course the barrel and stock. This thing is sweet…

    I almost put a new stock and refinished my December 1944 Springfield M1-GARAND but the stock is in very good shape and shows it did it's part. I cant bring myself to alter it just yet.

They just charged my card and updated my order the E-store 4/5/22 so must be getting ready to ship id imagine. You order the 30-06 Expert? I do know they are still trying to fill orders for the field and service grades that have been out of stock to order for months now. Hopefully they come back once they catch up.

      @@ZacharyGalloway Back in August the only availability for a Garand was for a field grade. Confirmed delivery via tracking that my order package delivered in mid August 2021. The next time I heard any peep from the CMP was in mid February 2022 when I was told that my order was being processed. And then a few weeks ago in March 2022 I received an offer that field grade was backordered but that the CMP had just received a limited batch of service grade rifles "possibly the last time ever" and I was given the opportunity to upgrade (which I did) or wait out the backorder for my original field grade order. And then a few days after I asked to upgrade my rifle was shipped, and delivered to me last week, end of March 2022.

Then a few weeks ago I received an email stating that field grade was on backorder but they received a limited supply of service grade rifles and were offering the upgrade for a limited time, so I took advantage of that, paid the $750, and a few days later it was shipped. Since submitting my order in August of 2021 with tracking showing that it delivered a few days later, the first time I received any correspondence with the CMP was in mid February 2022 when they said that my order was being processed. And then the last communication about the upgrade from field to service was in mid March 2022. The rifle you have has a stock made by Boyd's turned to specs supplied by DuPage Trading and sent to the CMP. You may have to stand some wood where the oprod can contact the stock. Your rifle has new springs for the oprod. The Criterian(CBI) aftermarket barrel is a excellent aftermarket one that is very accurate.
    The reciever could be off a Turkish or Philippine return. Some of the rifles shipped had stocks that were in real bad shape. Before they were imported the CMP had to treat the old wood as there was signs of termite damage. Enjoy.

    • @sfcrick1
      @sfcrick1  Před 2 lety +2

      The wood is beautiful and fights as a new stock should, tight and flawless. I couldn't be happier with it on the firing line at the rifle range or inside my gun room. CMP has an excellent process of turning old M1 Garand receivers from the MAP program as the rifles come back from other countries. Like most I have a fine Field Grade M1 from the Philippines and this Expert Grade which also maybe a Philippine return that was completely reconditioned. I have had accurate results on the Rifle range with both of these fine Service rifles.

      Please notice me.
      Not recommended. See the CMP website for a warning against ammo not specifically manufactured to USGI M2 Ball specs. There are commercially made rounds by Federal for the Garand and others that can be safely fired. You can also purchase a ported gas plug like those made by Schuester or pick up one sold by AmmoGarand aka Packrats that adjust the gas pressure to a safe level.
      Higher pressures can damage the oprod or cause other damage. You can visit several of my gun groups on Facebook for more info. Look for the M1 Collectors Club or M-1 Garand Enthusiasts Group. We can answer any additional questions.
