If you have a "phantom flush" occurring on your American Standard Champion toilet, the culprit could be a malfunctioning blue gasket.
Rather than buying a new gasket kit, you can prolong the life of the blue flat gasket by puncturing the air pockets (bubbles) that develop on the underside of the gasket. By poking into the bubbles, the ridge is removed, thereby allowing the gasket to lie flat once again.
While this may not be a permanent fix, I have gone over 6 months (since using this particular fix) with no further issues on another toilet in our house that had the same problem.
