That melody is so beautiful. I just love this song. I think I understand what she was saying. It’s a cryptic message of lost love. I wish she had written more ballads like this, had she’d lived longer maybe she would have. We’ll never know :(

She must have been a Buddy Holly fan. This song reminds me of his ballads and she borrows from his vocal style in her own inimitable way.
